Yo Terry, you are 5 days older than me. I started riding the MUni at 51. I climb some pretty steep hills in Boise, Idaho. I would love to give this hill a try. I would also love to try your KH 26 2-speed.
I would love to know where exactly this hill is. I would like to try it for myself. I am a decent hill climber myself. I copied the dirty dozen bike race and put together a video already uploaded here on youtube. I feel that if I can successfully complete Fargo Street, there isn't any hill I can't climb. Keep up the good work.
@shugemery I thought the same thing, *while" I was doing the climb, haha. But I figured if I'm gonna die, it might as well be doing what I love...of course, a hot chick would be better!
If you want to enjoy something else - 2 other experiences I recommend are:
1) VO2 max test where the workload cranks up every minute till ya drop!
2) A good mountain - say the Gross Glockner which takes about 3 hours to top!! But going down the other side is wasted on a uni - much more fun on a bicycle.
As for heart rate - you're not a machine. The heart stroke volume changes and I've had a week at a time where my rate is higher than usual.
@eTwisted Yeah I had been googling all that like crazy in the weeks leading up to it. But I had never reached that bpm until this climb! Nothing else has ever come close. My lungs were burnng so much during that climb, and it didn't go away for HOURS afterwards! Today I feel stronger somehow, like that climb actually made my lungs and heart more able now to process more oxygen when i get into that lactate threshold! I guess I'll find out on 3/6/11!
@SirSkillz13 Probably not. Even most who climb it on bike traverse even more! And in ultra low gears. That's a luxury i don't have btw. It was also harder on a 24" MUni, vs a smaller trials or 20" uni.
TOTALLY AWESOME!

whats next? You have already done distance(100 miles)... tricky off-road terrain... now the steepest hardest climb... can you ride on the ceiling?
dregerclock 1 year ago
@dregerclock haha yeah. I think it's because I went 40 years before riding again at age 50, so i guess I'm just trying to make up for lost time!

@ttt8699 That would kill me .... I would need to train, train, train. So much snow here my riding has slackened.
No excuse ......

Crazy!! Do you think it would be possible for you, if you practiced enough, or some insanely good athlete, to ride straight up?
You're in such good shape you'll live to 120 for sure :D
