  • This was the first version I ever saw back i the day. My favourite is the 40s version, even if they switched the ages of Amy and Beth.

  • They look waaaaaaaaaay too old!!!!

  • GO EVE PLUMB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Oh My gosh!! Amy is like 30!!?

  • I'm doing this show I play Younger Amy(: it's soooo much fun and I can't wait for opening!!

  • This is the worst version I have ever seen. Totally miscast. The best is the 1994 version--the casting is better, the acting better. Even the 1933 version is superior to this one. No offense to the poster but this one made me cringe in 1978 and still does. Can't watch it.

  • @LongingforEmpire

in my opinion its not best version . but i thinjk 1994 is the worst version of little women and the best is 1949 version and also 1933 version

  • @LongingforEmpire I LOVED this version. I know its pretty punk but I watched this on TV when I was about 10 in the early 80s. It was way before we were lucky enough to own a VCR so I set up my cassette recorder next to the TV and taped the audio of the entire show. (It ran every Friday night for an hour for about a month). I still have the cassettes.

  • @LongingforEmpire Why say "even the 1933 version..." I mean it was a great one...Better than most others. This one is more like a TV thing, and it looks a bit cheesy I would say...Like with the music at the beginning "Du du du du du du dum dum dum ( bis ) gna gna gnaaaaaaaaa " XD

  • That's.........Amy?

  • i have read this book

  • Beth is so sweet...to bad she dies later

  • Eve Plumb! I keep on stumbling apon her work. I love her!!!

  • I like Jo best, Beth second

  • @dearashymashy2 It would be gr8 if it isnt sliced.

  • @dearashymashy2 Will it be in separate parts or the full movie?

  • @awesomekid5436

its a video with english sub but i can slice it

  • is there any way u can get the 1949 version?

  • @awesomekid5436

as you konw youtube wont let mgm productions uploaded i plan to upload this version to my facebook or if you are in hesitate i can send it to your mail

  • Somehow I prefer the one that has Janet Leigh as Meg,June Allyson as Jo,Elizabeth Taylor as Amy, Margaret O'Brien as Beth and Peter Lawford as Laurie and Mary Astor as Marmee.

  • it's to bad that Beth dies

  • i love the book but jo is the best even my mom likes her

  • plus i have the book

  • Uh... Not what my mental image was when I read the book but I'm not going to rely on this movie

  • 1994 version. at least i can tell them apart

  • Like who they chose for Aunt March. she fits very well.

  • They shouldnt be the same age, they should at least look like they arent, and the house they live in doesnt make it look as though they are poor they way it's described in the book, this is pretty bad

  • What the hell? Why are they all blonde and the same age?

  • @veroronnieronron

i cant understand what you mean jo is 26 meg is 31 amy is 25 and beth 20 . its seem allright

  • @dearashymashy2 Im sorry, I meant in appearance. Does the movie begin with them all grown up? They start out as teenagers in the book. Its one of my favorite books so it irks me that they make changes which I feel are not necessary. No offence!

  • @dearashymashy2 Also, if they really are those ages, they act way too retarded.

  • @dearashymashy2 Amy is the youngest not beth

  • Lol good

  • The piano is horrible

  • I'm french and and i already watched this movie a long time ago in french version. Now i am not a teenager anymore,i can see that the daughters of March's doctor seem old except the youngest one.The snow is fake and this movie had to be shot in studios.Jo is pretty however.I always loved her. She's the smartest and the loveliest.

  • I wish I could see the 1949 version. But I've watched this one a few times, and its grown on me after all. I like it now more then I thought I could

  • i made beth in my school play:)))))

  • Thank you so much for this! I'm glad I found your awesome channel!

  • great now i dont need to read this book !

  • Ok ... hum I prefer the book that's boooooooooooring

  • i just saw the play today

  • Oh God, I can't. I made it to 7:07. The end.

  • I like the 1994 version the best so far! THis one seems really crappy but I dont wanna go to sleep so im watching it. I grew up watching the 1994 Little Women because it was made the same year I was born!

  • What's wrong wih the 1994 one? I thought it was very lovingly done with great care, The only fault I had with it was that I felt adult amy was poorly cast.

  • @Anaksunamen999

as a lw fan i hate 1994 version . in my opinion casting was poor . the characters were unreal and when amy is panished mrs march lecture about women rght ! and loving scene between jo and laurie a piece of crap really

  • @dearashymashy2 We disagree re the 1994 version; but thank you for uploading this! I'd been looking for it for a LONG time. Saw the middle part of it on TV once when it first came out; but then it disappeared. It was very confusing (for a then 13 y.o.), trying to pick the storyline up in the middle (not being previously familiar with it). They kept referring to Jo(e) and Laurie, with "Laurie" from the Partridge Family playing the main character and I couldn't figure out who was who, lol.

  • @Anaksunamen999 you mean old amy or young amy? i really liked kirsten dunst - i didn't like the older amy.

  • @mern9 I liked Kirsten dunst as young amy, but older Amy was very cold and bland. Amy and Laurie semmed like such a bland flavorless passionless last pickings kind of romance. She was a truthful young woman but very bland. She didn't have any of Jo's fire, and thats whats disheartening. Jo and Laurie had such fire together! I think they could have worked. I think Laurie gave up on Jo a bit too quickly if you ask me.

  • @Anaksunamen999 Meg is 17 jo younger than her

  • @Anaksunamen999 Agreed! I *love* the '94 version. Beautifully shot, cast, costumed, directed. This one isn't bad though, even if they ARE all blonde! (And Amy is way too old.)

  • @Anaksunamen999 Samantha Mathis would surely scream with delight reading that comment...Thanks for this nice actress who must have felt so happy and hopeful getting the role... -_-

  • I don't know whether it is because I have seen the 1994 version more but these actresses seem too old for the characters.

  • I didn't want to read the book so I just watched the movie

  • Okay out of all the children, I'm most like Jo. I'm a tomboy, want to be a writer, and spend most my time in my room writing. Oh and I'm also the second oldest. How crazy is that? Jo's one of my many heros

  • @Jobrosfanish well it certainly means you have a very good opinion of yourself...wish is good ! lol

  • @1480mathias lol thanks, i don't know if i'm as stubborn as Jo though

  • @Jobrosfanish My favorite character is Beth, cause she's pretty...And she dies.

  • i read this book and its impossible to finish

  • Totally agree with all of you... the 1949 version with Mary Astor just cannot be beat. I watch it every Christmas!!!

  • this is the best movie on eath i even have the two versions of it :)

  • I wonder if the girls wear any pants underneath those long skirt...especially in the cold winter season. I wouldn't last long with that long skirt...

  • I do not like the fact that Amy is supposed to be 11 and yet here, she looks to be the second oldest next to the actress to plays Meg

  • hi.im new here.how can i download this clip ?i wanna have it on my laptop offline.

  • I'm glad that I haven't watched the previous little women films and the newest one...that way I have nothing to compare this one to...I am also regretful that I didn't see the previous ones because there are so many good comments about them. I feel like I missed out on great films...Plus I LOVE old movies. :)

  • @Kiekie84 Me too! The acting is so much better!

  • not seen this version before, love it :)

  • "Who wants to be a lady? christopher columbus, I don't!" The most lovable book in Am. literature--I think we all think which sister is like one of these four.

  • Wow, gives me bad Little House on the Prairie flashbacks...but I keep watching it because of John de Lancie.

  • Oh their hair is awful!

  • wtf is amy the same age as meg and all, thats stupid they are 5 or 6 years apart

  • u no. jo lux like vanessa hudgens and laurie lux ridiculous

  • u no. jo lux like vanessa hudgens

  • I really want to read the books... *sigh* but for now i will just watch the movies (Y'know... the different versions) then the bok...

  • Oh dear, the Star Trek version of Little Women with William Shatner (Captain Kirk) as Mr. Bhaer and John de Lancie (Q) as... I fortgot who ^___^ Still like it very much. The BBC version mentioned above was ugh. They filmed in summer so instead of Amy breaking through the ice she just fell into the water :-/

  • Why are they all blonde? Amy was supposed to be the only blonde.

  • Why are they all blonde, the thing that made Amy stand out was that she was the only one with "gold" hair..

  • It's the all-girl Partridge Family! Please tell me they will burst into song at some point. XD

  • i was force-watching this because we had book-report to be made in 3 days

  • @videopirate100 OMG, dont base your book report on this, read a summary if you must, but the books is really great, you will cry!

  • OMG Jo is actually blond???????? What the hell did they think???? This version is awfull and the set looks soooo fake

  • Ah! I love Greer Garson!!!!

  • Oh my GOODNESS. The more I watch the WORSE IT GETS! "Using your noddle" while talking about the propriety of wearing gloves....Oh the 70s....oh.

  • @BenedictRoend

yes i agree . 1949 version is best . but this version is not bad as 1994 version . winina ryder version is disgusting

  • @dearashymashy2 hey thats my fav version!!!!!! grrrrrrrrrrrrr to you GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!

  • @BenedictRoend Yah, the characters don't seem right... Marmie doesn't seem very marmie-like, Beth isnt really gentle or shy, Amy isnt proper at all, and laurie is.... kinda whiny. And icky. And annoying.

  • @BenedictRoend And Amy talks like a Hillbilly!!! lol

  • Oh my goodness. Is this real? Heheh. 1949 trumps them ALL.

  • Wow, I'm very aware I'm watching a movie. The house looks like a set LOL.

  • Yay! I've been looking for this version!!

  • joe, beth and meg are preety and amy is not

  • @ 5:24 Why does it always have to be about Margaret, Margaret, Margaret! :-)

  • Comment removed

  • haha whoa meredith baxter was in this

  • @ BabyAngel2820 it may be the 1994 version?

  • This is from where i was born

  • I need help. I remember watching an episode of little women but Beth had black hair. I dont like the one with Kirsten Dunst In it either. :/ what year is the one I like??

  • @BabyAngel2820 Do you mean the 1949 version with Margaret O'Brien (black hair) as Beth? She was also Judy Garlands' little sister in "Meet Me In St Louis" in 1944. Mary Astor ( Marmee in "Little Women" ) and Leon Ames ( father ) played the parents in both of these films. Included in this 1949 version of "Little Women" was Liz Taylor as Amy, June Allyson as Jo and Janet Leigh as Meg. This was, by far, my personal favorite "Little Women" movie with the 1933 version placing second. IMHO.

  • @moviegal57 That one is the BEST. Oh it makes me so happy...This is...o_O the 70s...

  • The original Little Women June Allyson as Jo March Peter Lawford as Theodore 'Laurie' Laurence Margaret O'Brien as Beth March Elizabeth Taylor as Amy March Janet Leigh as Meg March/Brooke Rossano Brazzi as Professor Bhaer Mary Astor as Marmee March Lucile Watson as Aunt March Sir C. Aubrey Smith as Mr. Laurence Richard Stapley (Richard Wyler) as John Brooke Leon Ames as Mr. March Harry Davenport as Dr. Barnes Connie Gilchrist as Mrs. Kirke Ellen Corby as Sophie
  • @ShadowGuardian3337 actually the original little women was in 1933 with Frances Dee as Meg, Katherine Hepburn as Jo, Jean Parker as Beth and the lovely Joan Bennet as Amy

  • im glad you liked it . its a really good version . in march 2011 i would surprise you with a really hard to find little women version . a classic bbc version of little women of 1970 would be uploaded

  • @dearashymashy2 i have been searching for that version from 1970 for years.

I remember i watched it when i was a child living in england it was the best by far.

would appreciate very much if you could tell me were i can find it.. thank you...

  • @dearashymashy2 Oh wow..

Its ok i found it you have it on your profile..

Thank you so much i have thought about this version since i was 8 years old..

  • Thank you so much for this movie. I've never seen it but I've wanted to.

  • this is the PERFECT version of "little women"!!! each member of the cast personifies the character they ´re playing, especially susan dey - finally the real jo!!!

  • @marikesl Yes, I like this one the best too--for various reasons--it all just gels for me. I watched it when it premiered on tv.

  • @windstorm1000 :-) (you´re so lucky!!!)

  • Tank you so much, I love this movie (:
