You do realise what "taste" means???? I suspect you either meant "toast" or "test". Putting a burning lipo in your mouth might win you a Darwin award.
@Lozzie74 No we meant TASTE and yes at 42 years old Im sure I know what it means. We throw these batteries onto fires and shoot them with a rifle, Its expensive fun but loads of laughs..its awesome..try it...TASTY
@JackerNo2 Fair enough! LOL! We get a lot of ESL speakers on here, who use Google Translate and sometimes come up with "close but way wrong". I like your interpretation. Next time I kill a Lipo I'll be sure to try giving it a "taste". Cheers!
What ESC/motor were you using? Although I've started using SkyLipo because of the lower shipping cost, I used to use these batteries all the time and would get lots of use out of them. 25c x 2.2Ah = 55Amps. I usually used them with nothing bigger than 40A ESC's though because I don't really trust Hobbyking's "C" rating.
@englandforeverist it used to be common, but now it's rare. Nearly always caused by user-abuse (watch for defensive reply to this). Overcharging is a common cause (e.g. by using NiCd setting on the charger) or over-current. Either method will release gases from the polymer matrix, causing the swelling. The associated heat sometimes ignites the gas and you see the fiery result. I've been using Lipos for 7 years and have never had a fire. I have swelled three for the above reasons.
@englandforeverist Only battery I've had catch fire was a NiCd, due to short-circuit (my mistake). In nearly all cases the user has to do something wrong, and most modellers have extreme pride issues which prevent them from owning up to the errors.

What caused the swelling, and is this a common problem with lipo's?
