What are all these people in the cars going to do exactly apart from get in the way and make it more difficult for the emergency services to get to the casualties. undertaking is PASSING another vehicle on the inside - who was he passing?? granted he may have passed the motorcyle had it stayed in the middle lane but we can see the motorcycle going from lane 2 to lane 1 about 1 to 1.5 car lengths in front of the van and then slowing down.

The motorcycle pulled in front and braked hard - the car driver is therefore not responsible for having no room to brake. It's the very definition of "cutting up".

You're right it is a narrow view, but the issue I had was that you said switching lanes and slowing down without looking didn't make someone responsible for an accident. what actually happened here is open to debate but you can be rear ended and be at fault.
It's not as simple as that re: hitting a vehicle up the arse. Yes if you failed to leave an adequate gap to react in time then it's your fault. But if you're going 60mph and I pull in front of you without warning at a very close range and then hit the brakes it's not your fault you can't brake in time.

that rider pulled into the left lane infront of the car, which was going faster. car shouldn't be overtaking in the left lane, and he probably got blamed for it, but rider should look anyway before changing lanes

I worked with the guy who was riding the bike and he was absolutely fine apart from being shaken. The recovery company just dumped his bike on his drive way for his son to find, and the son didn't even know his dad was in an accident! Typical Plymothians!

It certainly doesn't mean that the drivers of the cars that went around the crash were ignorant. I'm positive that they were well aware of the accident. I think the phrase you could be reaching for is "souless" or "moraless". That would fit the actions in this video a lot more appropriately.

The only reason it is necessary to stop is if you can be of some assitance, IE: Trained first aid or You were either directly/indirectly involved / witness.

It's bad enough trying to protect yourself from those bad drivers when you're in a car or truck, but on a motorcycle, unfortunately the rider doesn't stand much chance against the car. :/ And even worse, the driver of the car usually gets away like it never even happened.

Not a Motorway. It's a dual carriagway. 70mph limit though, like a motorway. It was in summer 2006 when the World Cup was on, hence the flag pinned to his back. Notice how the Peugeot 307 station wagon hazard lights come on? Automatically triggered during heavy applications of the brake pedal. If I was the policeman I would not be running either. What difference would it have made? Rather than supposedly stopping to tell the police about another accident he should have worried about himself.

I think it's an example of what happens if you do the lifesaver after you change lanes, rather than before. He'd recently passed his IAM advanced test, and when first posted on the Evening Herald website, at least 1 person left a comment saying he was weaving through the traffic before then. well if you look again that wagon was hurtling up the inner lane which is also known as (undertaking) which isnt allowed right? so it really doesnt matter what the biker did we dont know that he didnt look/didnt indicate or whatever. Besides the car hit the bike up the arse so i severely doubt the bikes insurance paid out, the car driver was at fault.

undertaking is PASSING another vehicle on the inside - who was he passing?? granted he may have passed the motorcyle had it stayed in the middle lane but we can see the motorcycle going from lane 2 to lane 1 about 1 to 1.5 car lengths in front of the van and then slowing down.

I'm sorry but you clearly have a very strange interpretation of the rules of the road. The speed of the car appears to be under 70. Which is legal. The motorcycle pulled in front and braked hard - the car driver is therefore not responsible for having no room to brake. It's the very definition of "cutting up".

It looks like hazard lights to me - to warn of the vehicles in the hard shoulder. You're right it is a narrow view, but the issue I had was that you said switching lanes and slowing down without looking didn't make someone responsible for an accident. what actually happened here is open to debate but you can be rear ended and be at fault.

It's not as simple as that re: hitting a vehicle up the arse. Yes if you failed to leave an adequate gap to react in time then it's your fault. But if you're going 60mph and I pull in front of you without warning at a very close range and then hit the brakes it's not your fault you can't brake in time.

Well if you don't believe me, contact the Herald, the evening paper in Plymouth their URL is thisisplymouth dot co dot uk and pay them to search their database. There is 1 article about the accident and a follow up one of him with his child. The rider said himself that he was trying to pull over to tell the police about an accident on the opposite carriageway. More likely he was trying to slow down, appear less conscpicious having spotted the police car. He'd also passed the IAM bike test.

Thing is yes the biker changed lanes but he does not have to look (although you should) because here in the U.K it is an offence to UNDERTAKE. So if the bike is travelling in the second lane then its an offence for the MPV to travel faster in the first lane.
