  • Are you thick she said at the beginning of the song that he mum thinks she is living in a convent that's were nuns live and thats why she has the cross on. Listen to the words before you make judgement on a fantastic song and dance.

  • First production I've seen with some lively interaction on the "You could tell my Papa..." verse. It's a refreshing new take that saves the family member references from merely being a list to rattle on.

    Superbly done. :D

  • Definitely the best vocals on youtube

  • Favorite one I have found online. Right on. Good job.

  • What's with the crosses??? Really tacky choice. Shame on this director.

  • The song starts with "Mama thinks I'm living on a convent", so the cross is a parody of living in a convent.

  • Wow, great stuff. You all have really good stage presence. I really like your interpretation of the song/text and your choices of vocal tone Jessica

  • the sound is a bit off :(

  • i loved it :D

    xxxxxxx

  • But at the same time, the dance is supposed to be both purposefully poor (it is in a seedy cabaret) and sleezy. The chair -- which has been used here before -- is often effective in communicating the provactive feel without becoming too cheap. There is a fine line in that and, personally, the dancing here seems to lugubrious to be taken as inviting.

  • The Emcee is Soooooooooo Talented.

  • omg check out his "i don't care much" ... seriously amazing

  • I thought there could've been a good deal more with choreography, and the girls together sound a little pitchy. I thought the introduction by the guy who was the emcee did very well. Spoke a bit too fast at some parts- but being familiar with the play- I was alright.

  • I agree with cabkids. It could have pushed the extreme a little more but it was fun and simple choreography which is something this song works well with. Seedy isn't only in the appearent actions but also in the air the girls gave of. They from the video it looked like they were more of blantantly sexual than the 1930's club girls that are very sensual but also have an air of secrecy because some did have morals and only dance and many were strung out making their moves more lose.

  • Thanks! I think they did a very good job. I prefer subtle and "centered" rather than chaotic and over the top. It's not a cartoon. I like the minimalist approach and do think all the girls do a great job of being strung out.

  • I do agree a bit with jejarrel that the girls here could be a bit seedier, and the over all tone a little less Vaudevillian and more Burlesque. However, they are quite sexy and it's not necessarily children's material either! Plus, they all sound WONDERFUL and the choreography is simple and funny. I think compared to other interpretations of this song, they do a fantastic job!

  • The Emcee is an oaf. He's supposed to embody the idea of androgyny, not a homosexual slob. I get the low-budget effect, but where's the distress? Where's the seediness of the atmosphere? Berlin nightclubs circa 1929 were hotbeds of drugs and excess - I'm not seeing any of that portrayed here. Too bad. The peformers are actually pretty good. With a bit more dramaturgical study and more attention to detail in the presentation, this could be quite good.

  • i totally disagree!!!! the performers are very sexy and seedy and the emcee only makes it more seedy! i think he's all about drugs and excess...he exudes it...i think your way off, this performance was really awesome!

  • he is NOT about drug and whatever

the revival style ruins the show

the MC is a mechanical outer character

  • he is a great emcee your just jelous no offence
