With the Procede box installed a 335i might do 190. Without it, completely stock, probably 180. At 155 it was glued to the road, so it's designed with aerodynamic precision to allow it to go quite a bit faster than 155.
Yes, that's easy to tell because the car gets to 155 mph very easily. If you floor it when going about 110 mph when in 6th gear it down shifts with an automatic transmission, then shifts back into 6th gear at about 135mph and when it shifts you get pushed back in your seat and your head will bob if it's not against the head rest. From there it's only seconds to 155mph. There is speculation the car would hit 180 mph without the electronic limitation.
Sorry to hear. We do have speedlimits in sweden (110km/h), but the roads are open (lives only 9 millions here), and the policeforce are so small. So we can floor it without problems.
Maybe you can sneek out at night and do some highspeed runnings?
Yeah, it sure feels like there is a lot left at 155mph. Unfortunately, got this one on a lease, and now back in the US, so getting it up to 290kph here is not as likely unless I go to Montana for a weekend.
Great video. Must have been exhilarating to drive that fast. I have a 2006 Aston Martin DB9 but have only topped 105mph on a California freeway. Not enough clear runway ahead of me and too many cops.
There were two vehicles that could lose me on the autobahn, BMW M6s, and Aston Martins (couldn't see the model, but it was sleek and sexy). Porsches couldn't, Audis (even S series) couldn't, and Mercedes couldn't. Just these two. You're probably not missing much just having gone 105mph, because when the Aston dusted me, it must have been doing well over 170mph, and looked like it was riding the same as it did at 100mph.
The DB9s are nothing. Compared to the M6 (which I've admittedly only had about a half-hour driving), it felt slower and clunkier. I found it rather comparable to our 645ci which I've grown far too used to. The M6 could lose you, the Aston, I dunno about that.
Drove a DB9, found it way too clumsy. Dealers let us borrow it for a weekend, accidentally scratched the nose entering the driveway. Point is, how can you not go beyond 105mph in that DB9. Just take it out at one in the morning on a Wednesday or something, find a bit of highway and have fun. I managed to top out the 645ci (convertible) on a bit a highway with only a bit of traffic around me...was exhilarating, although the A-pillars shaking made me feel nervous...moreso than the speed actually.
Had it for two weeks, put on over 3000 miles in Germany ... so yes, waited past the break-in before pushing it hard. But I realized this car has a lot left at 155mph. BMW limits the speed to 155mph, or it would have hit up to 180mph is my guess.
how long does it take to pss the break in period

250 km/hr for 08 model, think that's about 180 or so mph...of course without limitation

250 km/h = 155 mph

Too bad all the BMWs are limited to 155, they can easily do 200, nice video.

Nice, i have a 550i. Same performance and i hit 155 mph near Munich also ! Very easy to get to 155 for me also !

The top speed for the 335i's are electronically limited at 155 mph. The natural top speed is much higher than that.

Is it the 3 litres twinturboschared engine?
If so, its good for at least 290 km/h
Just leave it to a tuningshop, they take care of the limiter, and boost it, so it leaves 350 hp.
At least here in sweden...

Depends on the type of Porsche and Mercedes as well..

Yes, sure does, and my sample set was small, just one 911 Turbo. Lots of Mercedes though, apparently just not any fast ones.

that is quite possible actually, I have seen 330i topping out (e92 with 272 hp DIN) with manual at 274 real kmh! measured with gps
