So therefore, what you are saying is that the Mainland China officially recognizes fifty-seven different Mainland Chinese ethnicities, and does each of them have their own distinctive cultures and languages now, such as the Uygurs, the Yugurs, the Mongolians, the Manchurians, the Thibetans, and so on; which is kind of like we have in the America now, with the Native American Indians, such as the Miamis, the Iroquois, the Shoshones, the Wyandots, the Hurons, and so on; each uniquely different

Xinjiang (East Turkestan), whose people are predominantly Muslims, is very modern and culturally-progressive, despite the people are still religiously ethically pious. However, please don't get offended, what I worry is that if it gains independent and ruled by some hardliners, it may turn into a harsh Islamic regime under Syria laws. Think of Iran before those desert bearded banditsl took power.
I don't understand the various languages of East Turkestan but I like to listen to their music, songs and dance. One classical singer I like is Dilber Yusuf.
Hi all, I'm a university student from Australia doing an essay on Arken. I was wondering if anyone could provide me with your views of him. Do you love him? Do you think he has betrayed his Uyghur people by embracing China's music market? Why do you think he is popular in China? I would love to hear comments about anything you have to say. Cheers!
he's a brilliant artist, playin excellent flamenco, singin in both uygur and chinese, which makes him popular among both the chinese people and the turkic groups livin in east turkistan, and comparatively more popular with the latter.many of his songs are uygur folk songs blended with latin and electronica elements.he's done a marvelous job in china's as well as central asia's music market. his songs express a pride taken by all uygurs, without any islamic fundamentalism or anything to do with ETIM
thanks for reply. i've finished doing my essay now, but do you know if his CDs are available outside central asia? I don't know if you can buy them in australia. I really like his music
it's surprised to know there is HK fans of Arken other than me, ya ! I am serious ! because I asked so many HongKong ppl,all they know is Janice,Edison,Jill who enjoys drug abuse !

"A Uyghur MTV from East Turkestan, a.k... A Uyghur MTV from East Turkestan, a.k.a. Xinjiang of China."
I WONDER WHAT "East Turkestan" MEANS IN YOUR INTRODUCTION!
YOU WILL HURT ALL CHINESE PEOPLE ESPECIALLY THE ONES IN XINJIANG!
SakyasHYS 4 years ago
Not Uyghurs, though.

I am a Chinese fan of Arken and that "east turkestan" really saddens me.
I always thought we are one big family...

@SakyasHYS you will hurt all the "Chinese ppl" in Xinjian??? what the fuck is Xinjiang?? Ohh i know
it means "new territory" in ugly Chinese. Uighur are not Chinese and never will be. They will be independent one day as East Turkestan.
