@peacefrogism Aww were you one of those rejects from Aus who decided that because you couldn't make it at home you'd try and make a nuisance of yourself in another country before realising that you really were incompetent and went home thank God almighty. London isn't a dump, it's what you make of it. If you expected to live like a tourist for 18 months then you let your self down badly. The only person round here looking for a fight has been you matey....
@peacefrogism Nobody was criticising you, so why come on so strong about something happening 10K miles from your hick town? Use the word snob over and over and people will think you are an inadequate. You seem to be unaware, never having visited London before, of the sheer variety of things you can do any day of the week. Zebra crossings are dull and the Abbey Road one isn't even in the same place as it was in 1969. Makes me laugh, so pointless and completely meaningless.
@peacefrogism Sorry but a trip to a zebra crossing is really dull and these shrines really do imply some kind of quasi-religious significance, it's not enough to just appreciate something it has to be raised to 'iconic' status i.e. so dumbed down and re-packaged that everybody can dig it. I didn't say that people should frequent the opera, ballet and classical concerts in preference to listening to the Beatles, enjoy the music but Abbey Road wasn't even their best, John Lennon said that himself.
@peacefrogism How does criticising the elevation of a pedestrian crossing in north London to the status of a shrine because a pop group used it in their album cover over 40 years ago make me an elitist and a snob exactly? I've got no problem with the band or their music.
@peacefrogism Looks like hostingturan got there before I did and said everything I wanted to say to our Antipodean friend there. Beatles fans are real sad acts, even sadder if they thought a zebra crossing was worth visiting out of all the things you could have seen in London.
@peacefrogism Even for tourists this must have been the most boring place they could have ever visited. It hardly makes me an elitist for saying that. These people are living in the past, The Beatles stopped existing FOUR DECADES ago this month. If you're still that into the Beatles that's really archaic and rather limited. Try and discover the real meanings of words before you over-reach the bounds of your rather limited intellectual abilities maybe?
Such a sad-fest. Only in the UK could an outing to a pedestrian crossing be considered interesting or cultural. It's very disturbing the way popular culture has become literally iconic, a kind of religion with relics and holy places. Time these people got a life really.

Hi Steve, and Hi John (dancing)
I was busy standing on the wall belting out Beatle hits with a borrowed guitar. LOL! I'm the one in the short sleeve shirt.
