it depends in what part of the atmosphere the missile was located, if it was in the stratosphere, where airplanes fly (well, in the lower regions at least), which many cruise missile use also to optimize fuel burn, this would be weird, unless there were thin clouds... if the missile was in the mesosphere, where there are gravity waves and noctilucent clouds, these clouds could have been lite up by the jet fire, dissipating them as you see when the missile stops... take care

I've launched about 4,500 rockets myself (G to O size engines) and rockets don't leave smoke for very long (even ones that intend to). The reason the space shuttle (which everyone equates to what a rocket launch looks like) leaves such a prominent "smoke" trail is because it's largely a water/hydrogen reaction and it literally leaves a cloud of water vapour behind it (with some smoke from the solid boosters).

Most rockets leave a smoke trail that is not very thick and dissapates in minutes.

This is a piece of space junk that has 2 leaks, which explains the 2 colours, the blue and white. It is probably part of an engine from a shuttle or something. It makes a spiral when the debree spins through the air and the liquid escapes the object.
