Ok walls 1441 please post the entire video of this I want to see the entire song in fact I'm pulling my hair out not being able to watch the whole thing. If you can let me know who filmed it and how i can get a copy of the entire vid
Wtf, dude. I COVERED the song on guitar. It only LOOKS like he's downpicking. I alt-picked some of the parts that he's downpicking, but it's not ALL downpicking.
@Steve128967 its an advanced speed picking method, where the pick hand moves in an almost oval shape along the the string, you move more side to side then up and down. When done correctly its very fast, and easier to maintain during fast sections then straight alternate picking.
That guitar is not a seven string. He used two different guitars when he recorded Blotted Science. One in A E A D G B the other in E standard. He constructed the 7 string body and using a BC Rich neck after the recording and before the rehearsals.
"On the 'Machinations' recordings, I used two guitars. For the higher stuff, I used my purple and yellow strat tuned to E standard. For the lower stuff I used my Ink guitar, tuned A E A D G B. I considered playing my doubleneck for these rehearsals, but wanted a new body design anyway for the DVDs, so I built the black (with red blots) 7 string."
No, he didn't record with the seven string. Go to his website and see for yourself.
damn dude it takes a really tallented musician to write shit like that, (if im hearing it correctly) hes playing nearly everything in a diminished or whole tone mode, that shits fun to throw into songs but hes full on writing with it, thats amazing.
is he using octaver effect? i heard 2 guitar but cant understand how? if he is using that effect can anyone give me some information about octaver effect (like boss oc-2) i know that pedal but i havent seen any video about octaver and distortion in the same time.
He uses a lot of diatonic harmony that you wont get from a cheap pedal effect. You either play the harmony (which is most likely what he does) or get a really expensive harmonizer and program it to go with the keys you are using.
An easy way to start is to play something then play the exact 3rd notes of that in the same key (different shape usually than what you start with) , then you get that cool diatonic harmony.
That's my point what's wrong with him picking downwards? Some times I eat cornflakes but it doesn't mean that's all I can eat...but it wouldn't matter if it was!
some one please tell me what those yellow letter on the side mean?

tuning?
quarentine99 10 months ago
@quarentine99 I dunno bout this video, but on the record he uses a seven string tuned AEADGbe
That's regular six string tuning (E - standard), but the seventh string tuned down one step from B to A

Yeah, but the recorded version was on a seven. Either way, it's Drop A.

all of that is tonal, from what i can here. no modes.
chewonfoil1357 2 years ago 2
He uses the 12 tone technique, which is where you try to use all of the notes (or most) in the chromatic scale equally.
matrixmetroid 2 years ago 3
thats really intresting. ive actualy heard of that one before but i didnt understand it. very cool!

Why is there part 3 but no part 2?
LordTJ666 2 years ago 4
I assumed that when he was writing it with the 12 tone thing that it was the 3rd section of the second.

Not sure if you are trolling or not but he tends to not use downstrokes for some reason. and obviously has a b in it.

you can also hear drums and bass. he playing over a back track and harmonizing to it, thats why it sounds like 2 guitars

He builds his guitars with bass necks... which allows him more frets.
Aspartamebraintumor 3 years ago 3
No he doesn't. He just makes his guitars like this at his dads house.

Personally i love his groovy technicality!!!
NOFUCKthrash 3 years ago 2
he's definitely catching some notes on the upstrokes. What tuning does he use?
mongobongoman 3 years ago
It's all downstrokes, I think. Some notes are just played legato (hammer-ons).
Also, all of Blotted Science's songs are played in A E A D G B E tuning.
