I've been on Wicked songs all afternoon, and I keep clicking on this song again, and I zoom down to read the comments, and I've already read them all.... T.T
For all of you people who'd think this play would be better as a movie your DEAD wrong imagine it not actually there seeing it rlly does that sound better than an EPICALITASTIC musical.
im in love with glee. but i have been in love with this musical, and especially this song since I was 10 and I would pick this over glee without a second thought
I just saw this musical for the first time ever last night. I was crying throughout this song. So beautiful. If you've never seen it live before, make sure you do, it will change your life.
Absolutely 100% true. I spent $400 dollars on two tickets and it was worth every penny and I'd spend just as much to see it again... and I don't make a lot of money!
I can relate to this song soo much. It brings me to tears to think that I'm not that girl, while clearly he is that boy. And I'm sorry, but Glee has ruined to many of my favourite Broadway tunes by clearly turning a solo into a duet (Don't Cry For Me Argentina, listen to the real version) Next thing you know, there'll be a shoe about a highschool band.

This song always makes me sad in a happy kind of way. It makes me think of a less stressful time, in GCSE's, where a friend of a friend sang this for her preformance side of it. She made me fall in love with this play >.<

Tell me people, why do you even care to comment about Glee on this video? Those who are fans of Broadway musicals know very well where the real quality is and that Glee is a mere cheap show made to amuse masses who don't know any better. Broadway will always tell stories that are more in-depth and touching than any tv series could. On the other hand, there are a lot of people who get introduces to this wonderful world of musicals thanks to Glee. You don't have to answer me, just think bout it.
@PurpleOrangeCrown I am not a big glee fan or anything but some of their songs are pretty good. But i do agree with you that they did a terrible job on defying gravity, they took all the good parts out of it.
Glee is an amazing show, my fav. But, it has NO chance and will of being better than an original musical song. It introduced me to Wicked. Now Wicked is my life, my breath and my heartbeat. I flied to New York from Turkey, just to see the show. Each song recalls another memory of mine. There isn't a day in which I'm not singing Wicked. It's the best and always going to be.

I don't have a problem with Glee, it shows people to older or newer music that they may never have heard before, and I really don't think there is anything wrong with that, actually, I'm completely for that.

This was always my favorite song from Wicked. I learned all the lines immediately. I stopped listening to the Wicked soundtrack for a reason I don't know, honestly. Distracted I guess? But here I am, revisiting it, all because what she is singing about just happened to me. It just sucks when THAT boy likes your best friend. Only thing is, I don't think the roles are going to end up reversed like Elphie and Galinda's were in the end...

Even though I think Glee shouldn't be discussed on Wicked, and only the sheer brilliance of Idina should be, Glee did a good job with Wicked, but its rarely ever as good as the original. After all, this IS Idina Menzel and she rocks. But still, Glee for the most part did a good job with this.
thats why we don't watch it. but people sing the glee versions and listen to them and it annoys me cuz they think that it's better than the original when they've never even heard the original. so that's why we (or at least me) have problems with Glee

im confused, ive seen a few west end versions and glinda sings this song, but ive also heard idina sing it, in the show who originally sings it?? makes sense for it to be elphaba

first love never dies, and that is so beautifully expressed in this piece. Its some one who should be angry, angry that she cant make some one love her that she has to make this choice for her friend. But she's not mad, the music does build up to reveal though that she is full of hurt wishing it wasnt true, but shes just happy that she is able to say goodbye in her own time. I could never be as brave as elphie, she has the wisdom of some one twice her age, its just a shame she didnt stay true.

Even though I think Glee shouldn't be discussed on Wicked, and only the sheer brilliance of Idina should be, Glee did a good job with Wicked, but its rarely ever as good as the original. After all, this IS Idina Menzel and she rocks. But still, Glee for the most part did a good job with this.

thats why we don't watch it. but people sing the glee versions and listen to them and it annoys me cuz they think that it's better than the original when they've never even heard the original. so that's why we (or at least me) have problems with Glee

Those are as valid as boys wishing a girl loved them, and girls wishing a certain guy loved them too. Don't forget about them either.

first love never dies, and that is so beautifully expressed in this piece. Its some one who should be angry, angry that she cant make some one love her that she has to make this choice for her friend. But she's not mad, the music does build up to reveal though that she is full of hurt wishing it wasnt true, but shes just happy that she is able to say goodbye in her own time. I could never be as brave as elphie, she has the wisdom of some one twice her age, its just a shame she didnt stay true.

Frankly, I don't think that anyone can pull off to be better on a cover, unless it's changed extremely.
