  • FAILING TO MAINTAIN FLOOD ROUTES PROPERLY DIDN'T HELP (Council)

BUILDING ON FLOOD LAND DIDN'T HELP (Council)

WHEN YOU LEAVE COUNTLESS SHOPPING TROLLEYS/ DEBRIS IN FLOOD ROUTES ANY BRIGHT SPARK COULD SEE THE RESULT (Not The Council)

  • I must agree bad choice of music lol

  • First off - nice vid :)

But all you people getting pissed off about other peoples comments can't expect to be taken seriously when you have such a poor grasp of your own language. I mean you write as if you're fucking inbred!

(Incidentally I'm from Sheffield, always have been and was there when this happened, before you decide to troll me)

  • HWat is with the t'wickers and t'whitting. People in sheffield don't talk like that, we miss the 'the' out totally. Thanks for enforcing stereotypes! ;-)

  • Wee wee

  • I was living in Sheffield when this happened. Incredible. I remember walking down a street in Hillsborough the week after and there was a skip outside every house containing floorboards, carpets, furniture... all wrecked. Ever heard Sheffield Shanty by Monkey Swallows the Universe? Weirdly precient what with its lyrics about how "seven hills became seven seas."

  • allmost a year on.

and what has been done to prevent this happening again. errr nowt.

  • @Archieola just up stream from hillsborough, where the rivers loxley and rivlin meet, has had the river dug deeper and made wider. plus they removed all trees and plants growing in and around the river to prevent them falling in to create more blockage. the area is beeing seen to every year now or so to keep it flowing i.e. getting rid of growning weeds in the rivers.

  • I got stranded in town!! but luckily my house was all good!!

    great song choice:D

    xxx

  • at 2:28 it int sheffield tesco its rotherham tesco lol

  • Excellent.

  • To all you lovely people who have decided to slate me, why not just look at the bad English and spelling in your messages. If you are going to have a go, at least write it properly! XXX

  • To flissyg123. All the people who slated you, slated you appropriately. Sheffield does not get excited at any little disaster and for your information I work and consequently do not require benefits. Also Sheffield is not full of welly wearers either. If you had personally seen how the flooding affected some people you wouldnt be quick to find it funny, some people have still not been able to move back to their homes after the flooding. There Ive had my say and wrote it in proper english too

  • I had to travel back to Manchester from sheffield the day after to get a plane to Milan. Luckily for me only six trains ran, all to Manchester and I caught the last one (just!) - Also the day before I went 40metres down the road to get my haircut and got absolutely drenched. Was terrible weather!

  • my last comment was for FLISSYG123

  • To all you lovely people who have decided to slate me, why not just look at the bad English and spelling in your messages. If you are going to have a go, at least write it properly! XXX

  • Yeah, the day before my birthday.. I wanted to go out for my birthday but I didn't want to drown, so watched simspons re runs instead lol.

It was shame how it took lives and flooded people out their homes.

  • i live in sheffield it was my birthday when is happened also i work at the rail station with was closeded for about 3 days lost a lot of morey that week as well

  • I know transport was a complete nightmare...took six hours to make a trip that usually takes 30 minutes:S

  • stfu u mug

  • where do you live because i bet your either from america of from london unless you have experienced livins in HILLSBOROUGH sheffield where you are isolated from the rest of sheffield next to the river don with water coming from the sheff wednesday ground the don itself and through your cellar (basement) id think again about insulting sheffield!!!!.

  • do any of you live in shef like me? just wondered im on the hill at the top of rutland road turn left, yeah the flood was terrible man :(

  • yep i'm in hillsborough - my dad's company suffered more than me but 'twas very bad

  • woah i heard the Sheffield Wednesday ground got flooded but I didnt realize it was that bad! The flooding was terrible

  • nice music you fucking prick

  • thanks for posting this there is flooding everywhere now stop global warming now imagine it in 50 years my friends we have not seen anything yet. What is even worse is when i watch radar on hurricanes and that i could see that the mid west usa was being inundated with tropical storm erin and not a word was mentioned about the flooding i tried to warm people with soem of my videos under this screen name and also wolfgang8u on youtube

  • i new ryan hu died :( ma bbe boi lv u 4 eva x x x

  • So sorry for your loss, cant even begin to understand how his friends must be feeling. Never knew Ryan but was with his friends on a school trip the day of his funeral, it was a hard day for everyone. Stay strong. God Bless Ryan Sleep Tight

  • I live in sheffield, but on a hill :]

  • Yeah same here and glad for it to:) seeing how much people have lost never good.

  • San Antonio, TX had Huriicane Erin on 8-16-2007. it was awesome. 7inches in less than 24hrs. BEAT THAT!

  • it is a mistake to build too close to the river's edge - mother nature will always have the last laugh...

  • the moral of the film is buy a house, at the top of a hill lol

  • Agree with MontyCat - some of those signs looked distinctly Rotherham.

Nice theme music - "Common People" by Pulp. what are you trying to say ;)

  • Some of those pics are Rotherham:P nowt wrong with common people:P tbh only reason its on is cos i tried the music and it seemed to fit:P

  • Thanks for this -- it helps make other parts of the world, and the people who live in them, real.

  • Can't believe the devastation; I've just left Sheffield after 17 years of happy dwelling so really appreciate this footage to see what really occurred; like the Pulp soundtrack, and don't mind the odd info error - in fact it takes me right back to South Yorkshire.

  • Thanks...now really starting to see true damage as people can move back in...true yorkshire fighting spirt kicking in, people pulling together to get things sorted:D

  • you should build an ark like noah

  • I can express my informed opinion thank you.

  • the great sheffield flood was actually in 1864

  • And the good idea of building the ring road for the uncaring car driver increased the surface run off in the wicker area. Good job no one can smoke near me as of the first of July but can choke me with their metal coffins on wheels. All these causes and effects of global warming have known since the forties, but no government acted now the public don't.

  • **NOTE** For the benefit of the viewing world - this montage is not entirely accurate in some it's images of 'Poor old Sheffield' - in fact some of the picturs featured are of the surrounding towns eg; Rotherham, Wath etc etc.

Typical de-da's(outsiders - you wont understand that) trying to make out that THEY were the only one's to be hit with the floods - its always ME ME ME...

  • 4 People have died as a result of these floods and you come out with comments like that? Disgusting. You should be ashamed.

  • well said. It makes me sick reading all the comments like that from small minded idiots.

  • r u fuckin sayin that cuz i sed ma mest m8 died in the flood n im r8 upset im fuckin small minded ill fuckin bang u now no one sez no shit bout my m8s u ear so fuck off cuz ud b upset if ur m8 had died dick hed

  • that comment woz for the little shit up the top hu sed people r leavin sill minded comments screw u silly cunt thank u gcbrabham 4 ur reply n at least u show sum respect unlike others x

  • Please this was made to show what happened that tragic day, not for people to argue. It's clear that people veiwing this film like natasha have lost their friend and they shouldnt have to read sarcy or hurtful comments. I dont post disrespectful comments on other peoples videos please dont do it on mine otherwise i will block comments.

    Thanks

  • Looking at what youtube has done its rearranged my comments. I agree with you that people shouldnt be posting insensitive comments but looking at dates it was in no way directed at you. Hope this can all be put to rest. Hope its getting easier for you, even though I know you'll never forget ryan got to remeber the good times.

  • georgina??? from notredamn?

  • yeah who's that?

  • if you're on about me I was on about comments like that by montycat1964, so before you leave comments like that check that you understand people are saying and think before you act.

  • That is so rude-Someone my Dad knew died in these floods-Oh well I guess that's what we expect from these backward little town *cough*Rotherham*cough*

  • Cries of 'Hoorah!' and 'Yay!' are to be heard in Sheffield as Bullseye speedboat winners get their day

  • I took that photo of Tesco!!

  • Hope you dont mind me using it...taken all pictures from bbc news site and put them together for a school resource. Btw which tesco was it:D

  • Rotherham tesco, i went past there on the way home from college i didn't realise it was going to get so bad it was like armageddon only with water.

i went down sheff today it's in a right state.

  • Don't mind it being used at all :o)

It got worse than that after I was there!

  • i think i believe in global warming now!! its gettin like that movie today after tomorrow!!

  • Some parts dont look as bad as they did now.. its so hard to believe that is happened.. i live in sheffield btw

  • There's a Pulp song from 'We Love Life' called 'Wickerman' about how the Sheaf and Don flow almost unnoticed under the city centre. It's sort of appropriate for this type of montage, but perhaps now isn't the time for it.
