It's not racist because its a white guy killing black zombies in Africa. That's just the setting. The racist part is that the black zombies (ie, present day africans) do things like live in alligator swamps, hoot and howl like monkeys and literally throw spears at you in some areas of the game.
The game wasn't intentionally racist, but when you make assertions like "Africans become scary Zulus when they get infected" makes a whole culture into a primative biological reaction to brain parasites.
