  • Our society trusts people that are 18-20 to trust people to make decisions that directly affect everyone by voting, but we don't trust those same people make decisions that affect themselves. There is obviously something very wrong with our principles.

Making the drinking age 21 causes some people to be "more of a citizen" than others. Why don't we just make all people 18-20 count as 3/5 of a person?

  • GET DRUNK!!!!!!!! COLLEGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Catherine why I do sympathize with the loss of your son, it does not mean that you should persecute the rest of the population with the failed 21 policy. It is not our fault that your Son acted like a damn retard when drinking and thought it was ok to Drink and Drive. If I was in his place I would of walked or taken a bus. The reality is that your MADD is a failed organization that does not enforce DUI's but simple enforced Underages more than DUI's. Total failure just like prohibition

  • The legal age in most European Countries is 16,and yet we have less problems with usage of alcohol than America.Teenagers should be shown how to drink, otherwise they reach 19 to 21 and have no tolerance to alcohol and will abuse it.

  • I think its due to the fact American kids have been bought up being taught that alcohol is so bad and causes all problems. Common sense should have the say in issues like this. I've been drinking responsibly since the age of 8. Thankfully I live in the UK where attitudes to alcohol are not so extreme and one sided.

  • raise the drinking age under 21 to immature

  • If a person is not responsable at 18 that person is still gonna be Not responsable at 21 or 25 or 40 or 80! If a 18 years old is called an adult then why they threat them like little children? Here in puerto rico the legal age is 18 and theres less binge drinking because is not so much of a forbidden fruit. 21 is not working lower it to 18

  • When I was 18 years old, I took particular pleasure in flaunting this ridiculous, puritannical, outdated, age-discriminatory law, knowing full well that the drinking age in Europe was 18, not 21.

If you want young people to live healthier lives, how about providing universal health care, having a public health oriented educational campaign about binging and ending this outdated, backward "forbidden-fruit" mentality toward alcohol, which only glamorizes and exacerbates the problem.

  • It is adults buying the booze. I am dealing with a youth group right now that every single one of these kids have been getting it from adults between the ages of 26 and 40 (and some of these are actually parents of teens themselves).

  • Legal 21 doesn't work! I'm 19 years old and I drink whenever I damn well please. I have friends that can buy it for me and I go to bars and restaurants that serve underage. So why keep a law around that doesn't work?
