I look back at old classics, and I find it much better than today's music. They put more heart and soul to songs to express themselves. It's as if music was your other lunge... It's something that makes you "alive"...
Sometimes I wonder what actually happened to music like these?
@TheVivascargill Pardon me but check your facts before all of the racism and lying dead in a raincoat crap. He was shot and killed in Los Angles by a motel manager when he went to ask for help. He was wearing a sport coat not a raincoat. See the crime scene photos. The song can be for any color person in agony and dismay. Just my humble opinion.
@TheVivascargill it wasn't a rain coat he was at a motel and the hooker he hired stole his pants he went to the managers office banging on the counter cussing and she felt threatened and shot him. He was wearing just a shirt and shoes when the LAPD arrived.
If you like this song, and understand what its about, I encourage you all to go here and do whatever you can to help these women achieve the change they want/need/are working towards..(Facebook::Young Women For Change - Afghanistan)
Heard this was sung at Whitney Houston's funeral. This is my absolute favorite Sam Cooke song, have loved it for years, it's a real soul lifter; unfortunately we lost Sam at a young age also.
A Tragic ending to an epic singer! This man was a channel for God to speak through.. Is voice was so silky smooth. There's nothing like it anywhere in this world..
Sam Cooke recorded this in an era of racism, and,. I feel that nobody does this song better than Sam Cooke. I felt Seals version was super, but he had all that orchestration in it. Sam cooke was singing from his heart. It IS AN ANTHEM. Hiss, ilove yu sam cooke!!! and yes it will. when jesus comes.
If we could get music back on television, perhaps children would calm down. I don't know it takes a lot to change a nation, but it's nothing to listen. Hope this new year finds you all well.
We had a karaoke night at my university and I got bored of hearing people sing the same old stuff, so sang this, not to blow my own trumpet, but it went sooo well! I was so proud of myself, the atmostphere changed so much when I hit that first note and the room went silent in shock I think hahaha. Shame hardly anybody even knew the song :/ I feel I musically educated them ;)
This classic always reminds me of the saddest part of the Malcolm X (Denzil Washington) movie when Malcolm accepts his imminent mortality as he is driven along that leafy road to his final speech at the Audubon Ballroom.....................still makes me sad.........I wonder where this world would be if he was not assassinated?
This makes you think of your life at present and what may come in the future. It also makes you think of that future. So, please, be, do and create the best life for you and yours.
