@samueljshepherd Don't know what's going on in your Australia, but in the US, the vaccine is already paid for with our tax dollars and is free to all at county health departments. Anyone can call any county for an appointment for the H1N1 vaccine.

@samueljshepherd Wodarg, as well as many other so called "officials" are trying to create a name for themselves, trying to capitalize on the H1N1 situation. I must say he's quite late to the table. Anyone who has seen the suffering, from H1N1, in the 60 Minutes presentation "Swine Flu: H1N1" would never say the H1N1 Pandemic is "only as bad as a cold". He is extremely misinformed. Those at 60 Minutes will have to speak for themselves.

@blawlor100 -- No, it's got nothing with Wodarg big noting himself -- that's plain silly. Wodarg has very reluctantly been made to respond in order to defend Dr Margaret Chan, head of WHO. Chan is the one responsible for raising the swine flu level threat to pandemic, and unjustifiably so. It seems it was done in collusion with the major drug companies. Big dollars involved.

A pandemic is an easily transmittable illness that is spreading worldwide. This is exactly what H1N1 did and we can thank Dr. Chan for sounding the alarm. Any money has already been made; the life-saving vaccine is paid for and is available in clinics worldwide.

Just so you know.....US vaccines are made without adjuvants, per a CDC press briefing. They are not allowed in US vaccines. The WHO suggested their use, to make the vaccine go farther, but the US refused.

@samueljshepherd Hello again Samuel. Clinical trials in the US, started in April 2009, right after the CDC isolated the H1N1 virus. These clinical trials, still ongoing, were done on volunteers, before the first doses of the vaccine were shipped. Later, as new results came in, the CDC adjusted their recommendations to the medical community, such as children under age 10 needing 2 doses of H1N1 vaccine to be fully protected. See, we're on it!

@samueljshepherd There is a lot of "yellow journalism" surrounding the H1N1 crisis. As my Dad told me "you can't believe everything you read." Certainly viruses can combine in nature. I remember reading stories about cats and dogs catching H1N1 from their owners. Viruses are spores found in the soil, the biomass. When conditions are just right, they emerge and proliferate.
