How can you be making lists of best comics and not have Dave Chappelle, Louis C.K., Bill Hicks, Jim Carrey, Adam Sandler, and others of that calibre? A lot of those comics you're talking about are very gimmicky white guys. 4 of which (Gaffigan, Birbiglia, Cease, and Regan) almost have the same gimmick. I like all the comedians you're talking about, don't get me wrong, but all of the comics I mentioned are much better IMO, and I'm definitely forgetting other comedians that belong on that list.

But I disagree about birbiglia being gimmicky. To me, a gimmick is more like demitri martin (who i think is hilarious, btw) but i's one liners, etc. Telling stories of your life and translating to stand up is very hard to do and is not gimmicky at all. Sandler is way more gimmicky than birbigs.
