Stars of the Lid - old souls that long ago learned to float out towards the edges of what is known...Slowly, they drift over us, calmly watching - wondering why only so few come out to join them. <3
@piper102206 From my own experiments, I would say that most of this is made with conventional string and wind instruments played through reverbs and resonators. What makes stars of the lid so organic is that they rarely use any artifacts that sound "synthetic" - i.e like an analog subtractive synthesizer
If you like Stars of the Lid, Boards of Canada, Helios, Hammock, Unwed Sailor, Explosions in the Sky, Rachel's, Four Tet, Eluvium, Goldmund, and other similar artists, you might like my music. I'd love some support. :)
These guys seem to nail every track. Amazing what certain notes and sounds can do to a human. I feel nothing but love when I listen to them. Ambient geniuses!
It is a great album indeed, so epic! Good thing I discovered SotL on YouTube last year. You have a great taste for someone so young. My taste wasn't *that* good six years ago.

If music alone ever had the potential to detach my mind from my body, then this is it.

Do they use a synthesyzer for making this?
I love ambient music.

You can listen to their whole album on repeat and fall asleep and it's wonderful.

I often put this track on "repeat" and listen through my headphones until I fall asleep, with ear cramps, of course. This is an indispensible album.

I like this much better than their earlier stuff. Ballasted Orchestra was good but this is far better.
