Depending on the meter technology / style some permanent pressure loss is caused but this should be minimized through proper sizing and taken into account during process loop design during eng. PI&D design of plant.
It is my understanding that a venturi type meter increases flow rate. I don't know much about fluid dynamics though. Nearly any meter will cause an obstruction, as I'm sure the manufacturer is aware.

So your devices REDUCE FLOW and CAUSE AN OBSTRUCTION !
That will affect margins in a company, it will reduce them.
Fortunately people don't use these devices much now.
It is always best not to say your product will reduce an operation in a plant.
