  • Wow...they only fit one suitcase in the trunk? lol

  • I got a 1962 Lincoln and 1996 Cadillac Fleetwood. Those two cars got room in the trunk and seats! Hardly any of the newer cars do. Please give us real trunks again.

  • I LOVE POMPLAMOOSE! FTW!

  • Nice commercial but, the Avalon does not exist in the 30's.

  • Nice looking train station, LOL I'd like to ride out of there

  • The Avalon, a GREAT car, Nice commercial !!! Toyota = Winner !!!!!!!

  • Toyota = FAIL

  • AWESOME!!! => That angelic voice...

  • ahahhaah a colored guy in the commerical...how yesteryear...YEAH RIGHT!~

  • @superamerica1981

    Me too.

  • The best part about this commercial is Pomplamoose singing Sandman.

    Buy an Audi.

  • @superamerica1981 OK. Its weird whats considered full size or mid size. Some people consider the Taurus & 300 to be mid sized while others say full size. The new 2011 Honda Accord is supposedly a full size car according to some car reviewers & the EPA :P

  • @superamerica1981 Would the Chrysler 300 be considered a full size car or no?

  • Pomplamoose!!!

  • @superamerica1981

Taurus has 102.2 cu. ft. of interior volume which is better than the Fusion's about 100 cu. ft. Avalon has 106.6 cu. ft. Avalon is like 6 years old with a new gen coming next year that will supposedly blow away the black-man and Latina designed Taurus. Taurus sales have not lived up to expectations.

  • @JeremyFuhenstasser unless you're made of a liquid... does it matter the exact cu.ft. of a vehicle? you're only taking up so much space and if you're feeling clostraphobic... open the window

  • Gyaaa! Pomplamoose!

  • Toyota Avalon < Pomplamoose !

  • luvs Pomplamoose

  • POMPLAMOOSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Anyone know if Avalons are made in the US?

  • @beatlespersun They're made in Georgetown, Kentucky along side the Camry.

  • Cool commercial. Cool song. Luv that Pomplamoose. Makes me want to test drive an Avalon.

  • Yay Pomplamoose! :)

  • amy,- whatcha gonna do? i think i could ride with you, in an a--a -a - va - lon

  • POMPLAMOOSE MUSIC AND YES, AMY ADAMS IN THE FRONT SEAT.

  • POMPLAMOOSE

  • that is amy adams

  • @buildnowflorida No she's not. Amy Adams has a square chin, she has a triangular chin and that's not her voice.

  • @buildnowflorida IT IS AMY...... U ARE CORRECT

  • The lady at 0:20 reminds me of the actress Amy Adams

  • Pomplamoose!

  • I do not think this is either the original Chordettes version nor the Pomplamoose cover. I have also checked out the Puppini Sisters and Rock Paper Scissors for their versions and there are very distict divverences between all of them and the advertisement version. My best guess is that it is close to the Pomplamoose version but their bass line is too discinct. They may have done a remix without the bass but I doubt it. Best guess, a studio recording done specifically for the ad.

  • @shorebird1949 This is obviously by Pomplamoose. They record multi-track, so it's not that hard to just remove an instrument and re-master it.

  • pomplamoose didn't write that song, the chordettes did

  • @Sims3101lover The Chordettes did not write Mr Sandman. It was written by Pat Ballard in 1954. The first known recording was by Vaughn Monroe (search youtube for it). It was later recorded by The Chordettes who had a smash hit with it.

  • Supportin pomplamoose From Morocco

  • Love this commercial

  • POMPLAMOOSE!!!!!!!! LOVE YOU GUYS!!!!!!!

  • I just bought a 98 Avalon, very spacious, roomy, and overall a good looking interior. I got white on black. Really good on gas too, better than my old Camry. Why are the vast majority of comments "Pomplamoose?" I am aware that they did the music :/

  • a commercial like that clearly targets older generations, but younger guys like avalons too! stylish and spacious, not to mention fuel efficient and reliable. who wouldn't want one?

  • pomplamoose!

  • pomplamoooooooose is loooose!

  • POMPLAMOOSE IS ROX!

  • Love that background music.. Who performed that?

  • @sofieelser Pomplamoose's cover of The Chordettes' Mr. Sandman

  • @sofieelser The music is from Pomplamoose. Check their YouTube Channel!!!!!

  • Man, I wish I was born in the 1940's or something, everything was soo simple and nice back then. and DAMN I love the music too; and by the way I'm 17, not a girl either (Y)!

  • @immakickyourass

You mean you wish you LIVED in the 1940s.

Cause if you were BORN in the 1940s, you'd probably spend your youth in Vietnam.

  • @GothicKnight2

    yeah, that's what I mean't man =P

  • mr sandman bring me a dream is the song

  • @sepirocth

thank you man, appreciate it =D

  • whats the name of the ORIGINAL song? i don't want the Pompaloose version, i want the original ... please tell me ASAP

  • @immakickyourass It's by the Chordettes. You can find it here on YouTube.

  • @straightupwv

Thank you very much man, appreciate it =D

  • Who performed this version of the song?

  • @MasterDoug21

Pomplamoose - check out their video on their YouTube account.

  • All i want to know is how did they recreate the look of 4-strip Technicolor? FYI, Avalon is their largest AMERICAN BUILT car. They have a range above Lexus thats sold only in Japan, the most exclusive being the Century Crown, reserved for the Imperial Family. The point is, for those of us who remember, there was a time when travel was an adventure unto itself. Jets had STEWARDESSES who served 4 course meals and wine, Trains had sleeper cars that road like a dream over well maintained tracks.

  • @sealforvr Possible it was actually SHOT in Technicolor? Just because the format is obsolete doesn't mean it's impossible. I recall reading some years back that there was a very strong demand in Hollywood to bring back Technicolor, but I guess the digital revolution kind of crushed that - probably easier to recreate the look in post. Having said that, there ARE filmstocks with incredible contrast ranges out there that are NOT technicolor, so who knows.

  • @pbl826

DUUHH "forehead slapping" of course why not? I knew Paul Allen was interested in reviving Cinerama as a digital format, so why not revive Technicolor too?

  • @sealforvr

It's not the largest American built car. Ford Taurus and Dodge Charger are both longer in length than the Avalon.

  • I love this commercial! It's so vintage and fun. It actually makes me want to buy the car :p

  • hooray for pomplamoose!

  • I freaking love this commerical its like the 30's 40's 50's some 60's and our timeline all in one commerical ahh..... my dreams are coming true!

  • What is Pomplamoose?

  • @ToyotaAvalon2011 They're an independent jazz duo.

  • @ToyotaAvalon2011 /watch?v=9xMCNmUaGko

  • @ToyotaAvalon2011 They're the people that did the song! Check them out, their username is Pomplamoosemusic

  • Highway to Hell by the Glee cast would've been a better song. Play it along with the video, and the woman mouth the words lol. It'd be cooler. This is okay, though,

  • The Great Gatsby

  • Who is the girl that says "so we can get to the city" ? Someone must know !

  • @HaloHedgehog22 The song is Mister Sandman, this version is sung by Pomplamoose - Who are very popular on this here youtube

  • I always say "so we can get to the city" when the girl says it.

  • I love this ad!

  • pomplamoose sings the song!!!! <3

  • Pomplamoose! <3

  • Does anyone know the firm who did this?It makes every other car ad out there look caddish.

  • God I wish the women looked that good again! The redhead is gorgeous!

  • Goooooo Pomplamoose! <33

  • @comebacktoCT the best on youtube

  • Jeeez that redhead broad is smoking HOT. Why don't girls look like that anymore? At least I have Flo from those Progressive commercials.

  • Who is the girl that says "so we can get to the city" ? Someone must know !

  • They should make a commercial with some music from Fallout or Bioshock in it. Thad be incredibly cool.

  • @hotdogman67 The music in this sounds like it could be in Bioshock. What's this song called?

  • This commercial is the most wonderful thing I've experienced in a long while. I miss that style. Why don't people look like that anymore???

    Why?

  • Congrats to Scott and Nataly of Pomplamoose on this. AWESOME!!!!!

  • Ford lmao

  • Congrats to Pomplamoose for landing this ad. Another coup for the YouTube music revolution;-)

  • I like this song, Mister Sandman. Nice cover song.

  • Toyota. Lol. Does the gas pedal get loose.

  • watch itl crash into a hole bunch of cars lol toyota sucks!!!!!

    ford ftw

  • Classic 1940s comic book style beauty.

  • This is the most beautiful commercial I have ever seen. I want one just because of the music, art-deco beauty, and the parody on the golden age of travel.

  • @delcoronado15 Yeah i know what you mean I love this commercial.

  • Yay! Pomplamoose!!

  • This commercial seriously creeps me out. A company as large as toyota promoting Atlas Shrugged or anything by that sociopathic objectivist Ayn Rand is a sarcastic gesture stating that think they own the world.

  • is their any actually train that is just like this one because me and mom are fighting about, her saying their one and me saying their isn't

  • @Heroduothecomedian Yeah there is

  • @pimpinhector what type of train is it then because it nothin i've seen before

  • Well the commercial completely changed the look, size and added passenger windows on it for some stupid reason. It is a remake of a Southern Pacific 4449 locomotive. What they changed was the nose, removed the cab, color, removed a headlight, and added passenger windows on it. Its CGI of course

  • @Heroduothecomedian according to wikipedia it's "a Twentieth Century Limited inspired locomotive". It's supposed to look like one of the early streamlined art deco diesel locomotives.

  • Pomplamoose!

    Aaargh, That's so cool!

  • @MrEarcheese yes! totally caught that too!

  • omg Pomplamoose ftw! I just got really excited lol

  • This commercial elicits the vision of an alternate or parallel universe in which current modern electronics technology progressed at the same pace yet American culture stayed in the 1930's/'40s/early '50s.. The steam train, the retro hairstyles, the quaint clothing, "Mr. Sandman" playing in the background.. Watching this made me feel like I was looking through a window into a different version of our Earth..

  • @calidragyn Its a shoutout to Ayn Rand using "bell whistle" language or in this case visuals to get on the objectivst/libertarian anti-Obama bandwagon. The artwork is clearly based on Atlas Shrugged.

  • @smokin345 And everything about that is beautiful and right.

    (the Atlas Shrugged, that is.)

  • @smokin345 I don't think Rand had a patent on deco. Besides I don't think tear-parties have ever read a book so they wouldn't get the reference anyway.

  • @calidragyn Great description

  • what song is thisss ahahah i like it

  • Pomplamoose!!

  • "so we can go to the city" souns so stupid xP

  • MAN!! The red-head at 0:21 is gorgeous!!!!

  • Pomplamoose is made of Jack, Nataly, and Win.

  • the red head isnt THAT hot....

  • I hate the line the red head says. Makes me want to punch a wall.

  • I had to watch an ad before I could watch this ad. lol. Just..lol

  • this commercial is awesome

  • I'd rather have the train than the car.

  • Does anyone know who's singing the song?

  • @JeSuSfReAk6120 SONG= The Chordettes 'Mr.Sandman, bring me a dream

  • @5T3V1L correct song, but not from this video. it is a cover by pomplamoose.

  • @JeSuSfReAk6120 it's nataly dawn, singer of pomplamoose

  • @JeSuSfReAk6120 Mr. Sandman by the Chordettes, but this version was by Pomplamoose. /watch?v=9xMCNmUaGko

  • it looks very similar to the mercedes c class

  • I forgot that .1% of my frontal cortex on a street corner in SF in 1975... Sorry for my assumption. Many of the comments on this video brought up the black issue. Yes they are black, however I don;t know if they are black, African American, African Latino, African Asian mix(and if so is that SE Asian, East Indian, etc.). Using 5.5% of my brain, better than most.

  • This is a great series of TV spots. Kudos to the ad shop & production crew!

  • Black people in the back? hmmm...

  • @azngreenteas Reality check: Black people in the back seat has nothing to do with back-of-the-bus. If you'll click on REPLAY notice that it is an affluent couple who are sitting in the back because they are being chauffer driven in a luxury car. Use 6% of your brain....

  • @HunterMann i never implied back of the bus. i was just curious as to wether those people in the back were black. why do u make such assumptions.

please use .1 % of your frontal cortex.

  • and the black people sit in the back... Amen to Pomplamoose though :P

  • THE CITY!!! YAY!!!

  • anybody know the name of the song that is playing

  • Toyota is awsome

  • dude what time period was this sopose to be in

it cant be 50s becuse the woman would be dressed diffrently and the train looks like its from the 20s so like yeah

  • @keblerelf1 who cares?

  • @keblerelf1 The art-deco inspiration used here looks like late 30s-40s-early 50s. I'm thinking more so late 40s-50s though.

  • @TraceurDOc The train looks 1930's but the styles of clothing look more late '50s early '60s.

  • @TraceurDOc Correction. The men seemed to be dressed in late '50s-'60s garb while the women are dressed in '40s clothes.

  • @1947Desoto Great observation. I think you're right. Either way the Art Direction is absolutely amazing in this ad. I am a huge Art Deco fan, and that was a style that persisted, in varying ways, from the 40s to the early 60s.

  • @TraceurDOc I fully agree. The Art Direction is great and I too am a fan of Art Deco. It's probably my number 1 favorite desgin style of all time.

  • @1947Desoto lol I muat make a correction now, the true deco period is from 1930s-late 1940s. Another offshoot came out of Deco in the 50s-60s.

  • @TraceurDOc Art Deco spanned from the 1920's to the early 1950's. After that it was the "Atomic Age", which in my opinion is just as great as Art Deco.

  • @1947Desoto Nice. I knew there was a shift in the 50s, with colors and lines. I just didn't know what to call it. And yes it was very definitive. Better than most of the design today that's for certain.

  • "so we can get to the city" i love her.

  • great gatsby

  • the cover is by pomplamoose though
