ive been doin nails for almost a year now and i can say shellac is really great for your nails. They may take a little longer but they look amazing, last longer then regular polish, and are healthier for your nails than acrylic. One concern about them is that you have to find a good technician because they are very difficult to apply. usually salons offer a 3-4 warranttee if they chip or peel off
Really want to get this done. It's £22.50 here in the UK and they add glitter for another £5. I think that's pretty expensive as I've never had my nails done I just paint them myself. But I'll give it a go as I want something longer lasting!
I've been using Sally Hanson Complete Care, $10 at Walmart, for my base & top coat, and my nail polish lasts sooo much longer. I do it 2x a week, though the polish still looks good, but I like to change colors, and Complete Care also strengthens your nails and supposedly makes them grow faster.
You shouldn't paint your nails everyday. I paint them about every third day when the nail polish has some chipping. Nail polish remover even the non acetone types are not good for your nails.
I had schellac done aty local cosmetology school for 15 bucks! It normally runs at about 30 to 35, so I was very happy to get a deal. So far I'm very happy with them.
Hate! Don't like the way the polish looks near the new growth. Looks like it should be cracked off. Drove me crazy. And you need to pay more to get it off! Rip off!
so do you highly recommend the "shellac" for after fake nail removal?
I currently have gel nails and I want them removed, I have a total love hate relationship with them and I want to remove them so I can save money to go to school to become a nail tech! I loved this review.
definitely leaning towards getting Shellac after removing my fakies!
Hi Leighann! Marnie from Msgoldgirl sent me. Super great feedback for a nail dummy like me. YouTube has gotten me all nail paranoid now so this helps. Thanks! =D
You can paint over them with regular polish....just remove the polish that you put on it with non acetone remover and it won't effect the Shellac. It works great!
@xoxobribaby I have the Samsung Epic from Sprint. I think it turned out extra bright but I could probably change the settings to fix that if I have to film with it in the future. Thanks for watching ;)
@LolaMarie7 hahah yayy!!! Though slightly handicapped by my claw amputation, I definitely feel much more up to date. What color did you get? I'm thinking of doing french next... idk! xo
Thanks so much for doing this review, it's amazing! I just have two questions. One is, did it take you a long time to find a salon that does this? I've never seen it advertised so I don't know if it's not very popular yet. Also, how do you get it off? Can you just use regular nail polish remover or do you have to go back to the salon to get that done? Thanks, can't wait to see your next color!
@theglossyboss 1. No, the salon I was going to already offered it. I know of several other salons in my area that offer it and I dont live in a cutting edge area so it could be easier to find than you think. I don't know about your city but here there is a nail shop around every corner O_o haha
2. Yes, you have to go back to the salon to get them soaked off. When I went in she also used the drill a tiny bit to buff extra stubborn pieces.
They look beautiful! I'm one of the "restless" though, 4 days is the absolute max I can go with the same color. Still, I'm off to watch L.E.'s video on shellac :)
i love painting nails probably 3 or 4 times a week, but i use the seche vite fast dry top coat and litterally ur nails dry in like 3 mins.so it makes it easier to paint them more often because of that wonderful seche vite fast dry top coat! You should try it down the road !but ur nails look Gorg and it definitly looks better!! God bless<3
@makeuphappy1 I just painted over my latest shellac with a glitter polish and used seche vite for the first time. omg that stuff is amazing! thanks for writing me xo
I took my acrylics off last September......The part I miss the most is having them all long and the same length. I do like to polish my own nails again though. Where did you get the headband on day 16 ( the one with the studs on it )? Really cute! Your hair , make-up and outfits look great everyday!
@judithapoulos Oh, me too! Its so easy to have them looking perfect but at the same time tiring and boring. I think I got that headband at Forever XXI but I'm not positive. Thank you so much for watching!
@kkfwd There are a lot of videos on youtube about the feather extensions and honestly thats where I learned the most about them. I bought mine from etsy and my supplies from Sallys then put them in myself.
New to your videos, sent here by Marnie...omg you're just gorgeous! Can't get over how pretty you are :)
I need to try this Shellac! I used to be addicted to arcrylics too (years ago)...now I cant get enough of painting my nails. Thanks to Youtube my nail polish collection has tripled in the last few months lol.
hey! u R so gorgeous! and funny!! haha i love love ur makeup n hair do in these videoss.. can u plz tell me what products u used and howw?? :D thanx!!
Hmm... I think my nails might grow TOO fast for this kind of manicure. I can see new growth after 3 days of having my nails painted. I will have to keep this in mind for a pedicure, though!!
Oh darling, I promise you, that you'll be more and more addicted to painting nails, week by week. One day you may find out that you enjoy painting your nails so much that you simply can't resist to paint them everyday. xD
But I can tell it'll eventually get very expensive. Once you figure out how much you've actually spent on those 200 nail polishes of yours... @__@
One more thing-I normally do my nails every 3-4 days. I can get it done easily while I catch up on watching YT videos. The key is to use Seche Vite top coat-it dries my nails in 5-10 minutes and then I can get on with my life. @MsGoldgirl Whoa, weird coincidence... I painted over my last shellac with glitter polish and used Seche Vite for the first time ever yesterday! I was shocked by how fast it dried. I guess I missed out on this miracle while I was stuck in the nail shop for years :/
Side note: Did you notice that warning label on the box?? It scared me but then I used it anyway.
@leighannsays That's a California thing. They label EVERYTHING with that label-even public gathering places. Like I've said in other forums, unless you're planning on shoving it in your nose and inhaling or drinking it, you'll be fine. Love the french manicure, btw, but then I stopped at Ulta on my way home and bought my first Zoya polish. The big question will be can I wait two weeks before I do my own nails? :)
Ooh-I just got mine done today! I got the CND Shellac in a french manicure. I just need it to last a week...but if they last longer, that would be great!! Thanks for the review!
@MsGoldgirl Oooo I'm jealous! My sister and mom both got a Shellac french recently and its like the best of both worlds. Staying power combined with the simple look of real nails. I think thats what I'm getting next. Let me know how it works out for you!
hey lady... i know pricing varies depending on salon.. but how much does this usually run? i almost always wear blk nail polish, but i HATE painting my nails.. i was thinking of getting this done.. xoxo
@elegantzombieTV I've had them done twice now and I still dont know how much it is for just the Shellac application. Every time I end up getting extra things done so I haven't paid attention to the price. I would just call a nail place thats convenient for you and ask. xo
I gave up my acrylics about 6 months ago after years of wearing acrylics, and was totally having withdrawals for quite a while. My nials are still kinda weak, but they're getting much better.
However, I am all kinds of happy about being able to use different colors and not having the hassle of getting my nails done. I was never a big fan of hanging out for an hour at my nail salon..LOL
Great review...I'm am considering the shellac nails :) Thanks so sharing!
it has taken me almost 2 years to get my nails healthy again after years of acrylic. i have to paint my nails about once a week so i dont get to tired of them
thanks so much for this video! i had fake nails for around 5 years (insane, i know) and just took them off a couple weeks ago! i've been wondering what i could do to help my nails since they are in such a bad shape! i will definitely look into this! thanks again! : )
those nails are great. i had them a few times i work in retail and the polish chips quickly if i do reg polish. but with these nails i bet once ur nails get a little stronger after not having the fake nails on you will get better results!
