@AcousticFolkFusion If you are referring to this video, notice how when he pulls the mic any more than an inch away from his mouth how quiet the singing gets? Singers have to keep the mic close for it to get the full sound, it's the type of mic, not the singer wanting to make out with an inanimate object...
This is so nostalgic for me. It actually made me cry a little, this video tape was the one I took to bed with me at 8 or 9 years old to help me get to sleep. It was so worn out my mum threw it out. I love this set and i love this band. I wish I was a little older back then so I couldve seen them in thier prime. But seeing them was the greatest moment ever. Fucking absolute genius.
I'm glad Eddie got past that youthful phase of getting boozed up before a performance. Don't get me wrong, he can do NO wrong in my eyes, I just think he is SO above that very typical boozed up rock star behavior, but if he had NOT gone thru it I would probably be MORE surprised so I am arguing with myself I guess. He's a class act IMO & owes NO apologies. All behind him for more than a decade now so a moot point. We all do stuff like that in our youth and Eddie IS one of us. EV FanGirl 4 Life!
@Satonica eddie still drinks before concerts, my buddy saw them recently he said him and his friends saw vedder pounded beers and gettin high at the side of the stage. he certainly doesn't get as drunk as he used too but i think thats awesome how he doesn't let his age get in the way of havin fun. he's doin what he likes to do not what he should be doing at his age and i respect that
It was really cool show. Only grunge, grunge (and some other alternative). Sad, that I was just born then. Even MTV then was cool. Now TV is a nothing, but real crap :( .
@TheBelgradePhantom79 - The program "No Nirvana" was a compilation of current bands at the time that had played live on The Late Show over the previous couple of years. So although this was broadcast in '93, the recording could be a couple of years older. I love this version of Alive!
Mike McCready, can you do a solo without making me stop breathing? Shit... I just ear it and ear Hendrix and Stevie Ray and his own touch.. his sound is something!!! Fuck!
@kantucky I love stories like that. My 23 year old daughter turned me on to "Nightwish," a REALLY awesome current band, and I turned my 23 year old daughter on to "Rush" over the course of her life, to the point that SHE and her husband made the six hour drive (both ways) to pick me up, a couple of months ago (6/27/2010), then took me back home with them for my surprise, which turned out to be a tickets to the opening night (29th) of the "Time Machine Tour--An Evening with Rush" - cont.
@kantucky-in Albuquerque, NM and it was an experience I will treasure and remember the rest of my life, it was such a beautiful gesture, the bonus being that my son in law is a drummer and got to see the one and only Neil Peart LIVE, which thrilled me too. They were the best seats in the house absolutely, and seeing the smiles on their faces for both, being able to make one of my dreams come true before it's to late by making sure I got to see "Rush" and the happy and proud looks on their faces-
@kantucky-letting me know that they were glad they could do that for me AND that they enjoyed it almost as much as I did.It was brilliant and I am still glowing over it. Few memories I have from life compare to the heart felt emotional experience I shared with my daughter and son in law that night. I'm happy that the kids are financially able to afford that kind of life style because you sure can't take it with you so embrace opportunities like that and hold onto to them because you never know--
@kantucky -the time will come when things won't allign perfectly and make it even possible. No one lives forever, you know? Anyway, just wanted to tell my story to someone. I've been bursting at the seams to talk about it. Keep on spreading a legacy like you and I have with our children because one day when you and I are gone, the kids will have such fond memories of sharing the love of our musical artform, or whatever it may be that we find in common with our kids once they're grown. *Hugs*
@kantucky-YES! I know!. Odder still is I compared 11 diff years of grad. classes ('70 to '80), MINE has at least 5 times more gone now than any other senior class (town pop. 6500+), and an absurd number of them passed away at age 41, and THAT includes my own little brother (diff grad class of course). I think, sometimes I am afraid I think about it all too much, could ALL be coincidental? Did MY age group do things THAT much more dangerously? There was no AID's yet. I'm the class of '76.*shrug*
@kantucky Mate...that there is the most beautiful comment I've ever read! My son is only 2 and 1/2...but believe me...as soon as he understands what music is...
That isn't Dave's drumkit,,,,he plays Drum Workshop(DW). I don't think those are Sabian cymbals either,,,doesn't have the sound his kit usually has. But still love how the guy played.
god i love when he go's fucken crazy at the end of the songs that shit was the best!! i love to see him bust the crazy shit out again just for old times!! haha
again, how in the hell is what I said "emo"? That has to be one of the most idiotic things anyone has said about a youtube comment I have made. Just because I said that rock is not cool today, that's emo? Really, get a clue.
There are plenty of great bands these days, it isn't music that has gone to shit, it is the mainstream that has gone to shit. I mean, back in the 90's stuff like this(Pearl Jam, Nirvana, Soundgarden) where all in the mainstream. Now you just have to look for the good music, trust me though, it is out there.
whover invented drugs is a nob i wish they didn't even no loads of great musicians killed emself its well annoying i wish i could see hendrix but its not gonna happen
they now have matt cameron, who was the former drummer of soundgarden. Who is still very good, but dave could bring forth some incredible energy. I hope people dont hate on Matt, he was bloody brilliant w Soundgarden, any true 'garden fan can attest to this.
@MBHD153 I had this on video tape and my girlfriend at the time loved to watch this over and over especially EV jumping around and when his hat comes off I think she wet her self - this is one of the best performances I think I have ever seen on TV - just fucking amazing
Just can't get into singers that think it is cool to make out with the microphone.
