Remember that this video is presented by the hawkish, elitist, right-wing-corporatist Council on Foreign Relations. I'm actually surprised they would air Mr. Nasr's analysis, in the first place.
@youwatertubeflaws i thought about getting a subscription because of the recent article by astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson on Space Exploration, but then I thought...the rest of the articles on Foreign Affairs are full of hawks (though I still read whatever free articles I can just because it's the status quo POV...besides, Foreign Policy mag articles online are free)
Iran has had many opportunities to 'meet and talk', and the West has tried for years to encourage diplomacy with Iran. The sanctions are directed against the Iranian government, and putting an embargo on Iranian oil exports hardly punishes innocent citizens. Pro-Liberals need to understand that a nuclear Iran is incredibly dangerous for the entire region, particularly when Irans current govt openly funds terrorist groups. Sanctions encourage Iran to put a stop to their nuclear ambitions.
@kryz24v Yet they feel the need to plan another visit in February...most likely because the investigation has not been fully carried out to ensure the reliability of such a statement. It was not long ago the IAEA had reason to think Iran had tested a nuclear device: 'IAEA said it had information suggesting Iran had carried out tests "relevant to the development of a nuclear explosive device"' Source: bbc.co.uk/news/world-middle-east-16831619
@JDon90 Almost 3,000 nuclear tests done worldwide, many by "my" government poisoning the army guys used as guinea pigs; radiation poisoning, not one of the freaks in power would do this if their health, their lives were on the line, hogs at the trough of human suffering. I did not vote for them murder children so that oil companys could sell their oil to asia.
@JDon90 Please search: Senate hearing on foreign subsidiaries of U.S. companies dealing with Iran Remember when Ronald Reagan allowed millions of dollars worth of weapons to be sold to Iran?
@JDon90 Iran is not its government alone. Iran consists of its national citizens, its political governing body, as well as its single figure-head "leader," Mr. Ahmadinejad personally. If you, personally, have issue with him, you, personally, may email him and tell him so. If you, personally, believe the Iranian citizens do not deserve nuclear power plants, tell him so. But do not advcoate US tax dollars pay to build the Iranian nuclear power program, then also pay for them to be bombed. Peace.
It works sooo much better for everyone involved if both countries just meet and talk, and try to work out their differences that way. I pray that Obama is just waiting until after his reelection to go this route, and that this sanctions garbage is just a way of appearing tough for the shitkickers in the u.s.
sanctions punish innocent citizens, while strengthening support for the very policies being blamed. If Ahmadinejad refuses to accept an imperialistic agenda that wants to make an example of him, that is his personal business, not that of the US military, nor the CFR. Besides, bombing Iran's nuclear power-plant would have literal blow-back (of fall-out) on Israel. The earth rotates west to east.
@benpadiah Do not forget the sanctions that murdered over one half million Iraqi children being saved from the weapons of mass destruction sold to Saddam by "my" United States, helicopters, sarin, vx nerve gas and other chemical and biological weapons. Sanctions against Japan started the attack on Pearl Harbor, the fucking illuminated ones are nothing but satanic scumbags who need to be exposed for the lying hypocrital scumsuckers they are, elite, what is elite about lying hypocritica
Wow, its almost exactly what what the US did with Japan during the 1930s.
