  • The .ie web address is nothing to do with 'placating Nationalists' - it was a commercial decision to tap into the growing number of UTV viewers in the Republic of Ireland. This series is interesting but very patronising towards Northern Ireland. It wasn't all troubles y'know.

  • @billyshearer1 That's just how it appears in England, i'm sure northern ireland is a very nice place

  • Great episode.. excellent use of the Stiffs at the end there.

I was born and raised in Northern Ireland for 20 years before I moved to North America (and missed the entire 2000+ idents) so it's cool to see the ones I missed

  • Excellent and very informative and you spoke a bit more clearly on this one.

  • Really enjoyed that! Good work applemask your channel is great.Keep up the good work

  • Hmm. I like this series, but it would be much better if you spoke up a bit. Also not everything about Northern Ireland is depressing, not these days at least. The obvious thing about UTV not mentioned here is its role in broadcasting to the Republic, hugely important.

  • After UTV got tired of the ITV celebrity idents, they showed almost identical copycat versions featuring their own presenters for a bit, before they went with the 'postcard images' slides.

  • You win. And no reference to Julian Simmons across three parts which gets you infinite bonus points.
