An appropriate representation of the requested resource /administrator/index.php could not be found on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

Do you know why this message come up when i make any changes to global configuration.

  • Thanks for the clear concise instructions. I was able to manually install Joomla 1.5.22 successfully following your instructions.

  • Is 000webhost down or up???

  • Oh man, screwed up at the part after installation, deleted the whole file and reuploaded it, using FTP .. file .. by .. file .. Took hours :/ Didn't see the annotations ..

  • Nice Job Alex!

  • Awesome, I'm off to install template on my site, you made it very easy, thanks

  • Amazing instruction. Joomla itself doesn't have instruction as clear and concise.

    Cheers to You!

    Thanks Alex!

  • Wonderful videos - very clear and nice quick pace. Had my Joomla install up and running perfectly first time. Thanks Alex!

  • Dude thanks a lot. it all make sense now:)

  • Alex, I think I said this before, but you are the best. This is just one great tutorial video - fast paced, informative, intelligent, yet easy to follow. Bless you, bless you, bless you.

  • Bless you Alex! I was stuck in Step 5 and even the Joomla forums couldn't figure it out (or people weren't interested in helping someone new). I bypassed Step 5 and got to Step 6. I did have a problem with the configuration.php file, but the instructions in installation said to copy the code and upload to my root directory. I am installing Joomla in a sub domain for testing and eventual move to the main site domain. Thank you again!

  • You saved my hide, thanks..i installed it on a Add on domain.. it works the same I had my doubts ..but everything went great.

    Thank you

  • Hi Alex. I just watched both of your tutorials and recommended them to my hubby. They were very easy to follow and trully educational. I am not a technie but I always wanted to know how to upload templates etc especially after paying out so much money for website development to people who just use these very same FREE JOOMLA templates, customize them and sell them for lots of money. Now thanks to you I can simply do it myself!!!

  • Thanks! This helped alot, I always seem to make things harder for myself and your tutorial made things seem so easy.

  • I just get this when I try to install

    PLEASE REMEMBER TO COMPLETELY

    REMOVE THE INSTALLATION DIRECTORY.

You will not be able to proceed beyond this point until the installation directory has been removed. This is a security feature of Joomla!.

  • Nice once...

  • it says "failed to move file".please help

  • you'r the best!!

  • BAAAALLLDDDDDDDDDDDD!!!

    Best,

    V.

  • hi im testing this on my free domain something.co(.)cc but whenever i go to my doamin name page doesnt load what to do

  • very helpful. thank you.

  • Joomla does not install on websites like 10X hosting. I have tried over and over again.

  • Very nice. Thank You

  • This is another great tutorial Alex, many thanks.

  • I think the reason you can't logout after changing your user information is because you are editing the user. If you hit close it will bring you back the the manager window and remove the editing lock on the user. You will then be able to logout. The same thing goes for editing articles and so on. The lock feature is to prevent more than one user from editing one thing at a time. This is only useful if you have more than one user able to edit articles.

With only a single user it's annoying.

  • Hi. I followed all the steps and when I went to the site, all their was was this message: No configuration file found and no installation code available. Exiting...

  • this happens when you delete the install folder too early. at 4:35 i even have an annotation that says to be very careful at that point. there are ways of saving the installation$ at this point, by manually creating the configuration.php file, but trust me when i say that unless you really know what you are doing it is absolutely best to simply start over.

  • the order you did things at that point did not matter so much with earlier versions of joomla 1.5 but for some reason that changed at some point and so you now HAVE TO click the site button before you delete the install folder. sorry for the trouble.

  • Very helpful, easy to follow instructions. Thanks!

  • man please help i uploaded joomla and everything then in the web setup it says the configuration, php is not writable but i changed the chmod in the file manager so i continued, if the config.php is not writable, i should get a code at the end right? a code that i have to put manually in the config.php file? but in the end i didn't get any code and if i try and go to admin or to my site it says webhost error please help me!

  • very much thanks, man

  • Thank you so much!!!!!

  • Great work Alex - I've signed up with the same company and have a question about whether it's possible once I've installed the standard Joomla installation to then import my own mysql database from my local machine over the top so I can upload a pre-configured site over the top of the standard one.

    Hope this makes sense!

  • Alex thank you very much.... Awesome tutorial.

  • Alex -- this is just fantastic, thank you.

    Brilliant!

  • YOUR THE FUCKING BEST :D:D:D:D!

  • if i type my domain name in the browser, does always joomla pups up or do i have to instal something before????

  • Joomla installer should pop up, nothing else needs to be installed as long as

    1) the joomla package was uploaded to the root of your website and not a subfolder

    2) there is no previously existing index . html, index . htm, welcome . html, etc file that will obscure joomla's index . php file

  • thanks!!!

  • Alex thank you so very much. Very clear and step by step instructions.

  • Alex West is the Best!

  • Thanks, really easy to follow. You are a great teacher.

  • Very good, very easy to follow!

  • Thankyou for this clear consise guide..

  • Awesome tutorial dude!

This was my first time trying something like Joomla, doing sql databases and it worked perfectly, i had a problem at the end but all i had to do is copy the code and save it on a notepad with the name "configuration.php" and upload that via ftp to my root folder and then delete the installation folder.

Now im gonna try some stuff from YOOThemes and Rocketthmes they have some pretty sweet stuff.

    Thanks again.

  • tnx man.. l love your video..

  • Thanks so much. good tutorial. u just solve my problem. but i have one question. is there any problem if my setting of Global Register and Display Error are NO during pre-installation check?

  • another question alex, do you have a tutorial regarding some changing the banners and those sort of stuffs? and how can I preview my site in my localhost?

  • the templates that come with joomla are very limited in terms of tamplate editing through the template's admin: almost every change would have to be coded in css/php/html, even a simple banner/logo change (yes I have a tut video up for that) But, this is exactly why I personally like the rhuk template (nothing fancy and I easy? to customize through code). But, like I said, other templates make is WAY easier to change banners and possibly background images/etc.

  • I dont know why localhost isn't working for you. I havent had joomla on xampp or wamp server for over 2 years so I can't remember but i? think i remember it works fine. always try 127 . 0 . 0 . 1 first (you probably did). I think i remember skype messing it up if it was on, or maybe another web server (iis installed?). And look into whether your host (windows\system32\drivers\etc\ host ) file is correct.

  • Gee Thanks! Now I can use my Joomla! on my localhost but with the help of xampp. Now the problem is,..How will I edit the existing template? I never thought that it's harder to use than Adobe Fireworks....well,..I think.

  • Yep, and you should be able to point a domain (if you have one) to your ip and run it like that, but then, of course, your comp always has to be on, plugged in, and it sucks your processing power/bandwidth if you run it like that. I like the ease of just paying for hosting. If you ever want to move it to a hosted site, use JoomlaPack. Template editing goes like this - edit as much as you can through the templae admin panel. each template has different options.

  • If you need to do anything more serious, like make new positions, you can edit the template's index.php file directly. CSS is usually an amalgamation of several files, with layout.css (if it exists) usually being the most important. You an edit the css through the template admin, but i always just use ftp.

  • yeah, editing through CSS, HTML, & PHP gives me a headache. I just found out that I need to put these codes manually...and it's really confusing. Now I have to study how PHP works and those variables. OMG! Another busy day coming through...but anyway, thanks! You helped me a lot!

  • Hi! Can I Install Joomla without going through cpanel? I just want to learn how to use joomla and re-designing it. Is it possible?

  • Yes of course. I happen to use cpanel, but you can use whatever admin tool your hosting provider gives you. I install joomla pretty much exactly like this on godaddy which doesn't have cpanel.

  • Awesome! Thanks!

  • ok but now how do you install a joomla that you have been working on localhost.

  • Use the JoomlaPack extension (google for it).

  • htaccess is a different thing. Before long you will see that you have to rename htaccess . txt to .htaccess, but that is another issue. Does it work when adding the "index . php" to the url ? If so, go forward with the install and hopefully wont be a problem later. DB's are not aware of Joomla or any other "script" that accesses them, it's the other way around.

  • At 0.13 you say "the next thing we are going to do is start the instillation"

    What did you do here?

I go to my browser and type in any url on this hosting account and nothing happens - am i missing something - did you double click instillation in cpanel?????

  • at the very beginning of this vid (part 2) i am looking over the uploaded files to see that everything go uploaded. This is just a cursory look to see any obvious problems: there are at least lots of files there, so looks good, but it is possible (though unlikely) that something went missing along the way (it does happen). Then, at :13, all I do is use my browser to navigate to my site. Joomla has put an index.php file there and it automatically then points to the installation folder.

  • if it doesn't do this for you, add the index . php to the url. eg. yoursite . com / index . php. Likely you have an index.html page masking index . php. I say in part 1 to make sure to delete such files.

  • No htaccess files or html, htm files etc in public_html - but not having it - will figure it out! Quick question: How does the new database created recognise the joomla extracted file - probably a stupid question!

  • Thanks for the tutorial, you saved me a lot of time.

  • Awesome. You Rock Man!

It saved my lots of time! Awesome work!
