  • Who else was expecting tf2 voices.

  • HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

  • some people are idots move yo ass for sirens and lights!!!

  • fake

  • People! All you have to do is pull over to the right and stop! Very simple! That ambulance was going to a serious emergency and the person it is responding to could die in a matter of seconds! Seriously, some people are just morons.

  • i hate when people do this 2 me whn i am in the firetruck

  • Out here in Las Vegas, they should use this video as a commercial on TV, then maybe people would understand.

  • what a fucking tard

  • Good Lord, is this a video or a dang book? Thumbs down.

  • If you don't know what to do when an emergency vehicle is approaching either from behind or towards you, you need to turn in your license immediately and get the FUCK out of whatever vehicle you are currently operating and let someone ELSE drive.

This is one of the most fundamental things ANY driver should know and be able to respond to without even *thinking* about it.

These are the assholes that cause even MORE crashes on the roadway.

  • I don't blame the pickup for going around you. Everytime some people see or hear a ambulance or fire truck a mile away they are pulling over. Even on four lane roads I have seen idiots do that on opposite lanes across the median. When you see idiots pulling over for no reason like that just keep on going. It doesn't interupt traffic flow. That EMS driver here shoud have had his turn signal on.

  • all states require you to yeild, but that does not always mean that you also have to stop.

  • staged

  • @Mackey1500 >>>---> I took the video and iit was not stage.

  • I see lot more of this ever year.

THIS SHOULD BE COMMON KNOWLEDGE PEOPLE

  • Didn't expect this much info about yielding to emergency vehicles, but hey thanks :)

  • no matter how dumb, ignorant, innattentive, blonde, or all of the above the civilian driver is, it is the apparatus operators responsibility to reach the scene 1-safely. 2-timely. an apparatus operator may have lots of friends and brotherhood of the fire service, but he/she will sit ALONE in the witness box before a jury if someone gets killed while responding to a call. on way or another, most of the time, an apparatus crash will be the operators fault.

  • @kpfani >>>---> The medic unit arrived on the scene safely, because the driver knew that a pickup truck was heading right for him if he made the turn. He has the right to get a little pissed and hit his horns. I have not seen where apparatus drivers are, "most of the time at fault.". Please direct us to the statistics where this is shown to be true.

  • @zaffdoc simple really, just ask your departments insurer about it, or ask any personal injury or civil rights attorney. they can spell it out for you.

  • @kpfani >>>---> Ok

  • @kpfani A personal injury lawyer is the last person I'd ask to get a factual answer. They're scum. As for apparatus drivers being at fault, I've been in 8 crashes in my career, driving in 4 of them, and NOT ONE was the FD's fault. I was hit once from behind with lights and sirens operating.

  • @kpfani obviously the response vehicle did the right thing but the IDIOT not yielding the right of way was wrong if there was an accident the IDIOT alone would receive the tick of not yielding the right of way to an emergence vehicle .

  • question? correct if i'm wrong....did anyone saw the ambulance signaling to the left? It is very important not to flash "hazard" of an emergency vehicle during responding to scene, just to let know the vehicle at the back or incoming vehicle your plan of direction. If anyone saw the signal in the video, then the approaching van did the wrong moved

  • @0000me0000myself0000 >>>---> Please read the scrolling text at the end of this video. It is preety clear what you should do when you are approaching an emergency vehicle with emregency lights. It does not matter about the turn indicators.

  • @zaffdoc okay thanks

  • Most places its not law you pull over but for those who don't yield think about this you are just holding us up and if we were responding to a call to come to help you or a family member of yours how would you feel about knowing we didn't get there as quick as we could have because people were disrespectful and didn't pull over for us ?

  • @AmericanNinja85 wrong- most places it is THE LAW to yield and pull over for any vehicle displaying a red or blue flashing light (or something along those lines)

  • Eagle4397 is one of those who can't be bothered by an emergency vehicle responding to save someone's life or home, unless it was his house in which case he would gripe about taking so long to get there when he did not yield.

  • no need to apologize. good video great advice

  • I dont know about there but in Colorado if they have the turning lane between the yellow line(which in this video they did) and even though its a smart thing to do, u dont have to pull over for oncoming emergency vehicles

  • @thefirefighter1005 >>>---> How interesting. Would you mind showing me the Colorado's Driving Code where it says that?

  • @thefirefighter1005

Most places its not law you pull over but for those who don't yield think about this you are just holding us up and if we were responding to a call to come to help you or a family member of yours how would you feel about knowing we didn't get there as quick as we could have because people were disrespectful and didn't pull over for us ?

  • I think the idiot driver knew what to do, he/she was just an inconsiderate POS to pull over to the side of the road. I hope you die a painful death stupid driver!

  • Why would you even record that??? is this the most exciting thing to do in your day?, do you have a life? i think their more important questions u need to ask

  • @eagle4397 >>>---> What are you? The The Wizard of all YouTube videos? There have been over 30,000 viewers to this video and a good deal of interesting comments have been generated. Why is it that people with no uploaded videos have such great comments? The message is at the end with the scolling text that informs drivers of what to do when encountering an emegency vechilce responding to a call. Geeez Us!

  • He didn't do anything wrong, maybe you're supposed to stop in the US but here in europe you aren't supposed to pull over just because you see flashing lights. Now if it was possible to see the indicators among all those lights then it'd make sense to stop and let the ambulance turn but that just wasn't possible to see in this case.

  • @Interception375 >>>---> To start with it was a female driving while talking on her cell phone. The law is pretty clean here as what to do when an emergency apparatus is approaching despite the number of lights it has on.. Read the scrolling text at the end of this video.

  • @Interception375

Most places its not law you pull over but for those who don't yield think about this you are just holding us up and if we were responding to a call to come to help you or a family member of yours how would you feel about knowing we didn't get there as quick as we could have because people were disrespectful and didn't pull over for us ?

  • god drivers like that always scare me when we roll.

  • last time i checked....my state has a question on the test to get your permit "what do you do when you see an emergency vehicle with its lights/sirens on?" even in the rules of the road book its marked in big bold print

  • it doesn't matter if an oncoming emergency vehicle is coming towards you with lights and sirens you have to stop at the intersection regardless if turning signal is on or not. it's called good defensive driving.so in this case if the stupid driver stopped at the intersection instead of blowing through it like an idiot, there would be no problems. end of story.

  • I think there is way to little training and instructions for what to do when an emergency vehicle is on it way. Should we all just stop? What if there is no space to stop? should we step on it ? I've seen so many situations where people tried to stop to let them pased but actualy they would just block their way..

But I agree that in this situation the driver was a bit of a c*ck...

  • Any advice for the public for us vollys who run P.O.V. to the station or scene, with a blue light and strobe, no siren.

  • 17 drivers red pick-up votes down.

  • @Chocholousek1 hey to go with red pick-ups i am a JR. firefighter in my town and we have had 2 red trucks crash in the last 2 weeks and they ended up a mess (i think both drives got air lifted)

  • The medic was the moron !

  • @lepaul26 explain that one....really...the medic....a city EMERGENCY VEHICLE that weighs more than that dumb ass red truck and can't stop on a damn dime running code 3 i might add, running to a scene (or transporting a critical patient to save his/her life) was a moron....PLEASE ENLIGHTEN ME. Last I checked, it's about every states law to YIELD TO THE DAMN LIGHTS AND SIREN meaning YOU STOP YOUR STUPID ASS

  • I would get out of the abmulance and punch that idiot straight in the face and say "DO YOU KNOW WHAT WEE-OOO-WEE-OOO AND FLASHING LIGHTS MEAN? IT MEANS PULL TO THE RIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I've seen ambulences make their way through rush hour traffic on 95 through providence and they're pretty much on the jersey barrier because there's no where for anyone to move out of their way, but yeah the general public is generally stupid. i work with them everyday at my job and wonder how they survive into adulthood most of them are so stupid.

  • Most people aren't going to notice a turn signal amongst all the other flashing lights...

  • @LeSedici >>--> I do not think that is true. I saw them and knew they were going to turn from about 100 yards away. The driver of the truck did not even notice the emergency lights.

  • @zaffdoc

I hate to defend the stupid driver, but you and i would notice a turn signal much sooner than them because we are familiar with emergency vehicles. Yet I understand and agree with you because I've come to not expect much cooperation from other drivers when I'm code 3. There's so many distracted people on the roads today, and it's only getting worse. Stay safe out there, and keep up the great videos.

  • @LeSedici >>>---> I know what you mean, but this driver did not even see the Medic Unit, the emergency lights, much less the turn indicators. Whoever she was talking to on her cell was taking her full attention. Sort of like the lady that was texting in the mall that tripped and fell over the retaining wall into the water.

  • @zaffdoc thats all beside the point.. You're suppose to come to a stop and pull to the side of the road when there is an emergency vehicle on the road. They have enough to worry without having to worry about if the other traffic will let them by.

  • @markever234 >>>--> Did you mean that comment for me or LeSedici?

  • @LeSedici I agree it's is really hard to see, but that doesn't matter. If you see an ambulance coming you need to put your vehicle in a spot that allows them to go anywhere without slowing down. So don't block a single intersection and pull WAY over.

  • @LeSedici ? ok but unless it is a divided roadway (raised median) traffic in BOTH directions are to pull to the right hand side of the road and stop. The pickup shouldn't have even been moving

  • @LeSedici LOL are you retarded? The whole point of yielding to emergency vehicles on roads that are less than 4 lanes is so that they can use the entire road and not worry about other drivers in the way. They don't need to use turn signals on an emergency call, because YOU are supposed to be pulling over and stopping in the first place. If they wrecked it's 120% the pickups fault.

  • I would run like they all know about the law. If they get in my way, I would run them over.

  • If everyone pulled over this would not happen. Pull the fuck over for emergency vehicles. I do. I dont care if its a trooper to a fire truck, i always pull over. Keep that in mind, they are trying to save lives. You wouldn't want some stupid driver to crash into an emergency vehicle when you need them do you? keep that in mind

  • With all those lights on the vehicle, its going to be difficult to determine if the ambulance is indicating or not!!! It also didnt straddle the lanes, before making it obvious that this is the path its destined for.

  • @libertycpi I saw the Medic Unit and I saw it was indicating a turn. I pulled to the right and stopped. The other person flew by me with a cell phone to her ear and I don't think she even saw the ambulance until she was even with it.

  • @zaffdoc How do you know the person in that jeep wasn't a first responder? Heading for the same call? Also, what about the factor of speed and stopping distance, it clearly states in the law that if you are travelling at a certain speed and your stopping distance passes the vehicle, increase your speed to pass the vehicle faster. I believe this is what law the driver was putting into practice.

  • @libertycpi I did not see a jeep.

  • @libertycpi the driver was following the "i don't pay attn to anyone but myself and my immediate wants" law. It is COMMON to see emergency vehicles waiting and waiting for people to get out of the way. No one is taught to drive properly anymore. Combine this with peoples' over-the-top preoccupation with selfishness, and it is a serious problem.

  • @zaffdoc You do not have to pull to the right if its a divided highway. Even my self having been a career and volley for over 18 years dont come to a full stop unless they are in my lane of travel. Thats the way we roll west coast!

  • @coolsax64 ---> Even if you see that the turn indicator lights are showing that the emergency vehicle is turning in front ot you????

  • @zaffdoc Obviously I would stop. By the way, I do like the posts of the older engine's. You wouldn't happen to have some of older Crown apparatus? All the Dept's on the west coast used to opperate the open cab Crown's in the late 50"s up till the mid 70's.

  • @coolsax64---> Nope on the Crowns - Sorry.

  • @coolsax64 I know in my state, the only exception is a highway divided by a median...a physical barrier. A siren is NOT, however, a right to drive like an idiot.

  • People like that deserve to die before the ambulance rescues THEM.

  • @stiehler1117 That is a little extreme even if she was from Texas.

  • this reminds of when this old grandma was holding up fire truck, everyone was pulled over except for her and the fire was right behind her blaring his like crazy and the old lady still didn't notice it but then she finally turned. I was like "wow, turn up your hearing aid grandma!"

  • @truffleshuffleguy That reminds me of the old lady that was in church. She ripped a couple farts thinking that no one heard them. She leaned over to her husband and told him that she had let go of a little gas and she did not hear a thing. He told her, " You better change the batteries in your hearing aid."

  • where is a cop when you need one

  • Well there is a sign that saids 25mph speed limit around here and it does not say under it " For when school kids are crossing " so in general there apost to go only 25mph but a lot of people go 255 mph its because the only thing they know is how to drive fast and keep a job and not how to obey the law !

  • @zaffdoc I agree, this is a good reminder to us all that we have all had close calls and we should continue to keep up safe emergency driving habits.

  • why were you filming the ambulance in the fist place?

  • @luckysod04 Why do you ask such a question? Are you with the FBI or something? I just bought a small hand held camcorder and I was trying it out when Medic 3 came rolling toward me. Since I take emegency fire appartus responding to calls all of the time, it was a good trial to see if I liked the camcorder. It was an interesting catch and the camcorder worked well. Not as good as my Flip Ultra HD, but it is neat to keep in my glove compartment in my car. What other questions do you have?

  • @zaffdoc simply curious, calm the fuck down

  • @luckysod04 Yeah, right! You were just curious.

  • @zaffdoc What does he have that you took so confrontational?

  • @Tygerfilms It is just the way he wrote it that really pissed me off. I don't mind good, honest criticism, but the way I took it is that I had no business taking the video in the first place.

  • @zaffdoc Oh, okay. It doesn't matter anyway; I always jump at the chance to catch Fire departments responding.

  • @pcfd20 @zaffdoc you guys both have some great discussion there, I think another point that this video clearly brings to light is Distracted Driving, Zaffdoc you mention that you could see that she was on her cell phone, and I think thats likely the reason she failed to comprehend the emergency warning. This video just goes to show why we should be responsible and pull over to make or receive cell phone calls. Though the medic does seem a little eager for the turn, he fortunately didnt hit her.

  • @FarmingtonNHFire • The medic unit driver was eager to get her to come back to reality. If he just sat there patiently and waited till she passed, then she would not have had to clean her drawers out when she got home.

  • That is why they have a horn!!!!!! They need to use it!

  • Hmm I'm sorry but that truck as the right of way. Lights and siren does not mean you own the road. The title should read "overly egger Medic to turn into on coming lines".

Sorry as a firefighter i cant agree with you title on this one.

  • @pcfd20 Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. I pulled over and stopped and that truck was behind me. The woman flew passed me and was talking on her cell phone and really didn't have any idea that flashing emergency lights and sirens mean yield. I guess what you are saying is that the medic unit should have moved back over a lane and yielded to the Stupid Driver. I saw what happened and I am not changing the title.

  • @zaffdoc No I'm saying that Medic unit "must"yield be for making a turn into on coming lanes of traffic like that. I hate to admit it, but it does say in law that emergency lights/sirens are only asking for the right of way(could vary from state to state). At least 90% have common sense to understand some one's life is on the line and they move over (like you), the other 10% don't care because they got to get to no where fast and thats more important to them. Still the medic was wrong also.

  • @pcfd20 The medic unit was in the turning lane and did let the stupid driver come through. I am sure that most in the firefighting business know that it is just asking for permission, but tell that to a police officer here and you are still going to get a ticket for failure to yield.

  • @zaffdoc Well an officer can give that ticket, but 90% of the time it will be tossed out under law(seen it 100s of times, not saying i agree with it by no means). I'm just saying the Medic driver was a little to over egger to turn, but thats just my opinion. Its not a bash of him are anything like that. Maybe its just the angle of the video cam making it look that way.

P.S: By no means am i defending the truck. I admit he was at least speeding and not really watching. careless driver.

  • @pcfd20 I don't believe they through out 90%. That truck was being driven careless and wreckless even it the medic unit was not there.

  • THATS CRAZXY

  • Whats wrong with TX??????? Not a dar thing....I work for VFD and i get sooooo pissed off when thay dont yeld

  • Look's like its time for that medic to get a rumbler installed LOL

  • The ambulance should have slowed the fuck down. Like my dad says " If it aint your stuff burnin slow down, take your time"

  • @dell62395 he really wasnt going fast, and he had lights and sirens going: he had the right of way, and merged into the turning lane. the guy in the truck should have gotten over to the right.

  • While I understand and relate to the frustration of emergency vehicle operators, and clearly the driver should pull the to the right and stop, I always advise taking extra care operating the apparatus when making a turn - with all the red lights, wig/wags, etc., the average driver is not paying any attention to your turn signals.

  • Wow. The dummy driving the Avalanche just lost their license if they tried to pull that kind of crap in Maine.

  • That's just Louisiana drivers for you. Most of them just don't care about anybody else when they drive.

  • I think the truck had a Texas license plate.

  • @zaffdoc It was stolen and being driving by someone from Louisiana.

  • @DeltaFoxtrotWhiskey3 No it wasn't. The lady had a cowboy hat on and you could smell horse manure when she passed. Had to be her truck and it was obviously from Texas. :-)

  • As a Firey I agree with JDOC 31.

As emergency responders we all have a duty of care to other road users, the chick in the red car may have been an idiot, but as a professional driver the medic should have assessed that situation much better. The few seconds it takes to slow down go along way to ensuring that you get to the incident.

    Good video zaffdoc

  • I think they should equip ambulance and use a loudspeaker to declare intention of turning to give more attention. red truck made mistake, but bringing more attention is safer and better.

  • As a medic.... 75% of all drivers dont see emergency vehicles til the last second. Nothin you can do about it. Just drive safe as fast as you can. Driving safe as fast as you can might be really really slow at times. BUT whos emergency is it? the patients. If you crash on the way there then the patient wont get the help they need and whos fault is that..the one driving the AMBULANCE! Emergency vehicles dont ever have the right of way so there for dont enforce it. Only because it can kill you.

  • Stupid Drivers

  • Holy Hannah!!! This person obviously has never had to call 911 for help. The road was empty and to pull a stunt like that is shocking and pathetic.

Doc, I think your video was excellent b/c you posted every possible thing to do if you encounter an emergency vehicle. Even ppl who have been driving for years need a refresher, including me! 5*****!!!! :)

  • Nice Video Doc, just shows the "everyday" encounter. It's a sad situation and a good thing a majority of accidents are avoided due to this situation. It is nerve racking. People just drive and assume the emergency vehicle going the other way isn't turning or needs to cross traffic. It is a shame the way people disobey an emergency vehicle.

  • Bullshit. The truck couldn't pull over because of the wacker who filmed this was sitting in the way. ALSO, the bus should've slowed down before whipping left across the street. I've been driving fire and ems in the most traffic congested state in the us for some years now. As a driver you have to assume people don't see you and don't care. Be careful out there. Getting there 5 seconds faster isn't worth an accident.

  • I am the wacker that filmed this and I was obeying the law that says to pull to the right and stop when being approached by lights and sirens. The driver of the red truck was on her cell, driving too fast and did not obey the law. Just because you drive emergency vehicles in the most congested state you can't tell me you don't get aggravated when someone impedes your response by disobeying the law.

  • You're right. And for the record I'm a wacker too. ;) And while it definitely is aggravating we all know there isn't a lot we can do about it. It stinks! But, we all have to hold ourselves to a higher standard and be extra careful - because idiots like this one exist. I don't think she was malicious, just dangerously oblivious to the situation. With kids driving with their iPod in their ears and rich folks driving with soundproofing, we have to assume noone sees us or hears us. Be careful guys.

  • @zaffdoc EXACTLY when u see lights and siren PULL OVER and if the damn truck would've done the same then the ambulance could've gone...oh yea, and if that ambulance was going to save some you YOU know you woulnd't want them to be taking their time...so stfu and pull over....the driver was a freakin idiot! the "wacker" pulling over to film it would've been a good reminder to the ass clown that kept driving!

  • just because someone i already pulled t the right doesnt mean you cant pull over. its not parallel parking -_-

  • @bradgoebel06

How does filming an ambulance or fire truck make the person a wacker exactly? Filming approaching emergency vehicles doesn't make him a wacker. Just makes you an idiot for assuming he was a wacker.

    p.s. I'm a fire fighter as well.

  • @bradgoebel06 Whatever dude. That truck could have pulled over just as easy as the "Whacker" did. Then you could be one of those idiots that, after the emergency vehicle passes, hits the gas and passes the car in front of you before he has a chance to get back on the road. Next time a F***** tries and pull a stunt like that on me again, he or she is going to have some damage done to the side of their car.!

  • Really nice video. The driver of that red truck had to have some mental problems.

  • Excellent short video.

  • If you are scarred by this kind of doing, never come to France ! French drivers are very good in that way If you follow zaffdoc's instructions (even if they can be do in France), you can be sure that you will create an accident ! Ho, of course, some of drivers do the right things when they heard sirens but majority never panic and stay where they are, practising the I'm driving so I'm alone in the world

    {sorry for mistakes : as ever, french before all !}

  • zaff really u ve reason men , thats is imprudent girl.... it was a terrible crash accident..

  • did u get the drivers plate numbre??? if u did u should show the video to the cops and the person would be fined or aressted for almost hiting a ems unit. cool vid dude. 5/5 fav

  • No, I did not. It was not malicious and I am sure she was oblivious to Med 10, but it had to scare the crap out of her, and I bet the next time she hears a siren she will pay more attention and hopefully do the correct thing.

  • dang

  • Nice video. We get the exact same problems here in the uk. Although I am not in any of the emergency services, I have observed idiotic drivers, some of them just seem ignorant more than stupid.

  • I wish a cop was sitting right there she would have got like 2 tickets.

  • wow men is stuppid but perhaps he wasn´t know the ambulance cross the corner....

  • It was a woman driver, but you should aways pull to the right and stop, unless it is not safe to do so, when an responding emergency vehicle is approaching. Male drivers are as much a problem as women in this regard. It appeared that the driver of the red truck was talking on her cell when she passed me.

  • Doc, this happens every day to us. It`s up to us to think ahead and be ready for bone headed moves like the red truck`s driver. I`ts also up to us to drive with due regard to safety. To not "outrun" our sirens and to stop at ALL redlights and stop signs. I even slow to almost a stop at green lights because drivers freakout when they hear the siren. When you "light them up" it`s like painting a GIANT TARGET on the side of the ambulance. " If we don`t get there, we didn`t help anyone.."

  • GOod job on this video doc. I hope it gets to the point of the many "Stupid" drivers on the internet!

  • tHAT DRIVER WAS CRAZY!!!!

  • I agree!

  • Nice!!!!

I saw an ambulance that met a person at a cross walk, when the person started to cross, the ambulance started to go, it went back and forth for about 20-30s

  • Shreveport *tisk*tisk

  • also write down "If a fire truck is backing up into the station w/lights on, to not pass it until it is in the bay."

  • sad part is it happens all the time
