That Hungarian folk song got "exported" to Iceland via the boy scout movement, if this blog post is to be believed: tucatnev.freeblog.hu/archives/2010/07/01/Kis_Kece_Megaposzt/. Apparently the Icelanders liked the melody but couldn't get the hang of the Hungarian lyrics so came up with their own and the song is now an "Icelandic" folk song. :)
I first heard the Icelandic version as part of a compilation of Icelandic folk songs and was totally amazed. :) I like this adaptation btw. :)
