  • One of the most incredible songs ever written or performed!! It will live on in my mind!

  • Robin Batteau went off and got rich. He wrote many jingles, one of which was "The Heartbeat of America" and he sang on each version, too.

This is a great song. I too remember the Tom Rush show of 1982 where they did this. Awesome.

  • I kept this song travellling with me for twenty years, taped off a radio on a cheap cassette, then scotch taped when it broke, lost maybe ten years ago. I have searched for this for years, Agree the first one SOARED as I cruised across Montana, or Wisconsin, or Washington, or Tennessee, but this one is so very close to that feeling in the early song! And now my 35 yr old daughter is passing it on having found this video for me. I just played it for my mom, age 87. All of us, moved by it. Thanks.

  • Thanks so much for posting this...I saw them do this song at Passim's in 1980....I love it!

  • So glad you guys are performing together again!

  • great song

  • Great song. Decent video. Would love to see and hear the version from the Tom Rush New Year's Eve show from 1982

  • Yeah, I had a cassette of that, lost years ago. The '82 version seemed to havehad more "ooomph" , more passion, though this one is very good as well. But hey, they are older. I have carried the song in my head and I honestly thought I would never hear it again. And before I had the cassette I had seen that concert on PBS (I swear, hand to God).

  • I would find that a true wonder of the Internet! Please!
