  • :'( Why is this flagged? This is such a sweet video.

  • My mom and I watched this video. We sobbed like crazy. We didn't even hold back.

  • *Cough cough* I uh...I got something in my eye...oh crap now it's in both eyes...

  • Well, as long as this is flagged adult anyway, I might as well point to "a little bit of backfired plan caught in my eyes" - go to Something Positive, click "Archives", choose 2005, and scroll down to August 3. :-)

  • @SarekOfVulcan that's what got me to look up the song in the first place.

  • unflag this now!

  • This video should not be flagged, is there no appeal process or common sense Admin?

  • Christmas isn't the same without you, Jim...

  • Comment removed

  • I prey that this plays during the credits of the Muppets Movie.

  • Dammit, got something in my eye... ;_;

  • I feel bad for kermit :(

  • Inappropriate? YouTube needs to pull its head out of its ass.

  • I swear something flew into my eye... D':

  • @IIVikkaII That thing is really getting around. It just flew into both of mine.

  • That song was perfect.

  • Happy 75th Jim you're still loved, and missed by many!

  • Great tribute. A lot of my favorite clips got in there. I miss you Jim.

  • Happy Birthday, Jim Henson.

  • Still one of the best tributes to the man on YT, I cry every time I watch it. Happy 75th, Jim, wherever you are. I grieve for the untold joys this world lost when we lost you in 1980.

  • @TinyDancer500 I meant 1990, of course. I was typing through tears, sorry :-)

  • Happy birthday Jim. You are truly missed.

  • Jim Henson dying for no particular reason in 1990 proves that it is IMPOSSIBLE FOR THERE TO BE A GOD

  • @Applemask I can see why this video is age restricted. It's because of you.

  • God rest your soul Jim Henson.

  • Very touching and lovely -- thank you for creating this tribute

  • Somewhere there are 15 people I truly feel sorry for.

  • What moron decided that this video is unsuitable for childern? There is nothing

dirty or obscene about it ! Yes,its sad-but what a wonderful tribute to a man who

gave us some childhood friends we will always remember. That line,"but who else could make them believe?" is so true. No one(before or since)has been able to make us believe. patybear

  • Why is this video flagged as "Age Restricted" based on community guidelines, with a red exclamtion mark ?? Do they just take peoples word for it when they flag the video or is it intended as a joke >>

  • still the saddest song I have ever herd. but thanks for the vid.

  • Jim Henson and Mr. Rogers should have lived forever.

  • @thewandering01 Agreed, I also wish Mr. Dressup lived forever!

  • Why was this flagged. Some people are idiots.

  • I really dont see how anyone could dislike something so emotional, it makes you so sad but happy as well.

  • The world will never be as magical again, now that Henson is gone.

  • Oh my gosh... I am blubbering like a baby! This song gets me EVERY TIME....

  • lovely

  • I got to tour the Sesame Street set when I was about 6. Met Frank Oz (Jim wasn't there that day). Jim died when I was 8, and I remember crying THEN. Such an outstanding person and amazing inspiration.

  • @dkmjoy wow...that's nice

  • This made me cry... :'(

  • I just bawled my eyes out, and this is probably the 50'th time I've listened to this song.

  • *has something in his eyes*

  • tears me up when he says "I miss you Dad"

  • @boobytrapzap me to, me to.

  • Oh god... the clip at 2:47, where Kermit is just standing back, watching the cast performing, at the line

    "That's not a path that I'd choose"

    I... oh god. ;_;

  • 15 people only see a cheap gimmick

  • This like a Turing test. Unless you're a cold, soulless android, you're gonna weep.

  • @MasterShoko Thank you for once again reaffirming my belief that I am a cold, soulless android. I've been working towards that since I was about 7.

  • @VetinariClone Glad to be of assistance ;)

  • @MasterShoko I don't think it's possible to be desensitized either.

  • Waterfalls, man.

    From our eyes and hearts.

  • I grew up with the Muppets. Watched Sesame Street and Fraggle Rock every day, and I owned all the tapes (still do). I had a Big Bird doll I carried around. Despite having grown up with Henson's creations, he died a month after I was born. I actually didn't know he was dead until Wikipedia launched when I was ten and his name was the first thing I looked up. I was actually sick to my stomach, ten years later. It's so beautiful that his name lives on in his company and still makes so many happy.

  • There are SO MANY THINGS IN MY EYES!

  • For those of you who don't know, September 24th of this year will mark Jim Henson's 75th birthday. I wonder if people should put a compilation of some of Jim's best works together on YouTube. Perhaps one person puts something, and then another person adds to it, or we add to a video such as this "Happy 75th Birthday Jim Henson".

  • why would someone dislike this video?

  • @Meatbag211 because they hate life and all of humanity, and want to spread misery wherever they go.

  • this made me leek, oh gosh

  • this made me leek, oh gosh

  • *sigh* I was born a year after he died, never knew til I was in middle school. my mom showed this to me and we cried together. I always wished I could be half the artist he was. his characters were so outragous but a small part of you always believed they were real </3

  • I keep coming back to this and I keep crying every time. Even if he passed away today, he'd still have been taken away from us too soon.

Rest in peace Jim. Our childhood friend, father, and teacher.

  • I love this song! gave me a new found respect for jim henson

  • I can't explain how much this effects me. Tom Smith and TimMachine I tip my hat to you.

  • Oh god....I am literally sobbing like a small child because of this......

  • That dad line hit me hard.

  • pass the tissues please

  • A lovely setting to Tom's excellent song. Thank you. Happy Birthday Jim. We all miss you.

  • Happy Birthday, Jim Henson

  • So incredibly hard to believe he's been gone for 20 years now, wow. Wherever he is, I know he's smiling at this glorious tribute. Thanks again, and Happy Birthday, Jim, we're all better having "known" you.

  • Happy Birthday Jim

  • just wow. thats pretty damn good. who ever flaged this song was a fool.

  • It took me a minute then the tears hit like a brick wall.

  • This is the first song in my twenty-four years on earth, that I can recall anyway, that has made me cry. I was strong until the last stanza.

  • umm...someone may have said that it should be "inappropriate" because it has clips which give the impression that kermit and the others aren't real...which isn't true! "wink wink"

  • awww how sweet....truly an American great....miss you Jim! What a gift.... does anyone know where that statue of him and kermit is, that photo toward the end of the video?

  • ;__; the last two choked up lines. They always get me.

  • ;__;

  • I remember I saw this when it came out. I cried. Classic :)))

  • He died before I was born :( I've always loved his work, and I always will. And I'll show my kids when I have them. He'll always live on. Forever.

  • T_T

He died before I was even born... Just under 2 months before I was born, actually. His work was the basis of my earliest education... He shall be missed. :(

  • So much crying! :((( Beautiful song

  • ;_;

  • I just bawled my eyes out. This is amazing.

  • Jim Henson was a true genius.

  • 13 thumbs down. Thirteen heartless, dried-up husks of beings.

  • racking. sobs. every. time.

  • *cries*

  • I was only about two when he died. I wasn't even aware of the fact that he was dead till a few years ago. It was kinda like finding out that family member you love is ghost and you just spent the last few years chatting with them when they'd come to visit.

  • @mattdragonfire1 You are a heartless human being.

  • I have no soul.

  • This song always makes me tear up. I love it. If I ever find that statue in the video, I'll sit on the bench, play this on my ipod, and bawl like a kid.

  • @Thiefree I think it is at the University of Maryland.

  • @Thiefree I'll be hugging Jim Statue at the same time my friend

  • Twenty years later we still miss you Jim and are still waiting for the Muppets to return.

  • @jadenova They never left.

  • WOW! absolutely beautiful! not ashamed to say it made me cry. jim henson was, is, and always WILL be a true legend! thanks for all the memories... from a lifelong fan!

  • This video was probably flagged due to it being horrifically depressing.

  • @Vadergeek That's mourning for you. And that's the problem with modern culture: we don't know how to mourn.

  • what a tear jerker.. i hope that the people who are touched by this take solace in the fact that all of us watching, wishing, and being inspired keep jim's memory alive, and perhaps some of us will learn a few lessons from his philosophies on love, life, and work so that we all make this world a little better for having been here.

  • @zachry1235

ironic sidenote.. Sesame Street season 1 & 2 also have a parent warning!

  • Pretty song

  • I just cried so much at this, it was beautiful <33 I wish it wasn't tagged so more could see it.

  • "So I'll stand up and I'll face it. And thought not quite in your voice I'll say..."

    This is so ridiculously sad...

  • Oh man, this was so beautiful and sad, it made me cry.

  • I just have something in my eye...

  • Thank you so much for posting this - a friend of mine told me about it. I had never heard the song before, didn't even know it existed. But it's beautiful, wonderful & perfect - & now I have to stop.

  • @zachry1235, while i agree with you I can see why: it is SO sad that it makes adults cry - imagine if little kids saw it who were unprepared?

  • Why is this considered inappropriate?

  • It's been 20 years today, and we still miss you, Jim.

  • I think this is the first YouTube video that has actually made me cry. Watching this montage and hearing this song exactly 20 years after Jim Henson's death makes it all the more poignant. And yes, Mr. Henson would have loved the song if he had been alive to hear it. This is a wonderful video, and I thank you for putting it up.

  • thank you for making this- I love JH

  • I STILL MISS YOU!

  • At 3:40 I lose It :(. Btw I'm 12.

  • This is so Sad. I'm crying right now. We all love you Henson, you genius legacy will live on, Forever and after.

  • I think this video was flagged because if children listen to this song and understand its meaning, they will cry for the rest of their childhoods. T_T

  • " 'Anyone could do that.' Well, that's true, I suppose, but who else could make them believe?"

That casual brilliance, the Bing Crosby style one might call it, is a great part of the unfettered genius and untrammelled imagination that still burns inside those of us touched by it, two decades after the passing of the torchbearer.

"He was a man, take him for all in all, I shall not look upon his like again."

    Hamlet I ii

  • I cried so HARD

  • One of those people the whole misses.

  • I just cried...hard

    We miss you Jim

  • Manly tears. ;_;

  • tom smith got this so right

  • Still makes me cry, after all of these years...

  • I love at 3:46 where he says ill miss you dad

  • So sad...poor Kermit.

  • The creator is a very close friend if mine and she is trying to get it unflaged

  • ok let me get this straight. this video of jim henson is NOT appropriate for children? that's a bunch of crap. BULL CRAP BULL CRAP BULL CRAP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Perhaps it's got something to do with the tear-producing power involved?

  • Beautiful!

Jim Henson's world made my childhood such a wonderful time. I was 11 when he died and I still remember how sad I was. To this day I will watch one of Henson's productions when I feel down and although they take me back to the joy I had when I first saw them, when they finish I'm even sadder, knowing that he's not around to make such gems anymore. RIP, a fantastic human being .

  • Glad I keep tissues by my computer..this one always always always makes me cry!

  • haha i was sorta worried that something was going to pop and scar me. hahaha.

  • I'm glad that you included the University of Maryland statue. I was there at the dedication as part of a Farscape contingency, and met Brian Henson. He was honored to be carrying on his father's legacy.

  • Great job. I still miss Jim Henson.

  • I am a huge Jim Henson fan; I grew up in the late 80s/early 90s, when TV was dominated by the Muppets (Fraggle Rock, The Muppet Show, Sesame Street, etc), and sadly didn't know he had passed until I was 20 (I was 5 when he did). This song is the most beautiful tribute to a wonderful man who did so much for the world. I count him among the greatest men of the world, such as Martin Luther King, Jr., John Lennon, and Ghandi. Jim's approach was so unique; a child's heart of innocence.

  • Also, TimeMachine, you did Mr. Henson and the song justice. Believe me. This video is why I break down earlier than I would just listening to the song.

  • I have never cried so much in my life! he was a great man and will surely be missed. Its brilliant minds like his that are keeping the creativeness and the joy in this world going. He will never be forgotten.

  • Is YouTube's flagging system still broken like this?

  • It Very Sad That Was Flag,It Was A Great Video And There Was Nothing Wrong With It. :(

  • Thank you man for making this video. I didn't realize how much Jim Henson meant to me and the development of my childhood until I saw this video. So sad he died and such a blessing that you have put a perfect seamless video together in Jim's honor. I think everyone who sees this will shed at least one tear. Jim is smiling on you now. Thank you.

  • I feel a pain in my heart :( This video was amazing.

    I miss you Jim <3

  • I have something in my eye...and my other eye.....and my heart.

    -Stephen Colbert

    That sums up my reaction.

  • I can't think of anything more appropriate for minors. Or for decent adults, either ! A very well done, touching video.

  • what douche flagged this

this is the person who made sesame street?!?!

  • Happy birthday, Jim. One of the few things I can remember about my father (he passed when I was 7) was sitting and watching "The Muppet Show" every week. Thank you for all of the memories, even the ones that make me cry. We miss you.

  • Happy Birthday, Jim!

  • How is this inapropiate for children??

  • argh damn it!

I listened to this song because i heard about it on a webcomic to see if this really can make you cry and god damn it it sure as hell did...

    The man was a genius...

  • Something Positive?

  • goddamnit. Why is it that I break into racking sobs when I hear this song?

  • My best guess is that it was flagged because of some over-protective parent who wants to keep their kid from knowing about death. Real shame.

Also: TimeMachine, this video is a perfect accompaniment to this song!

  • This was very sweet.

  • WHO flagged this? :/

  • Why is this not suitable for minors?

  • Who the fuck flagged this

  • how but why... is this flagged seriously its kermit.... nooo not flagged bad youtube you fail....

  • I still get teary eyed when I watch this. So wonderful.

  • I wonder if I watch it 100 times, will I stop crying?

  • Why is this flagged so you have to confirm your birthdate? How dumb.

This made me cry. So touching!

  • I suppose if you're under 30 or so now, it won't mean as much. It's hard to believe it's been 19 years.

  • @qqpwpqi Im under 30 and this still means alot i was born a few years after his death but I still grew up with tapes of the muppets when I found out he was gone It hurt me alot.I miss him alot and the stuff he produced there never will be another Jim again

  • very emotional

  • But you sewed up your dream

and we made quite a team,

Jim and Kermit, a boy and his frog.

    wow

  • "I'll miss you, Dad"

    I always lose it there...

  • mine was the one bout all the differnt muppets being silent

  • So did Tom. He wrote and performed it for the first time three days after Henson's death. After writing it, he rehearsed it until he could sing it through twice without losing it, and then went down to the concert -- and lost it anyway.
