Shlomo Mintz is such an outstanding musician. His handling of this little etude is fresh & unique. The 14th is one that Perlman once dug his bow into while appearing on The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson. He made it look easy with his big, powerful hands. Musically speaking, however, I prefer this rendition. It does, in fact, resemble trumpets.

this caprice is supposed to be imitating a trumpet/horn fanfare just as number 9 is supposed to imitate the calling of the hunt with flutes and horns.
