this makes me wonder if that was just a special effects error or if there are going to be humans vaporizing while the earthquake is going on. guess we'll have to see the movie and find out. :)

The typical Emmerich movie: A great idea, some very cool scenes and a downright disappointment. Aside from all the destruction scenes, there must be tons of boring lines that leave you wishing for the end of the world so that you can actually end your suffering. Besides all the comments made I`d add a soundtrack that is totally inappropriate and just kills the scene. I`m going to watch it, no expectations and I may have some fun. Enough said.

When I first saw this I thought the same, but then I saw the Tidal Wave VFX featurette where you can see the fear in the presidents face, you see him in the moment before his death. Then I realised that this movie has emotional moments as well. Another proof for this is in the trailer where you can see a family in front of the tsunami, facing their death.

I think director Roland Emmerich is trying to find the balance comedic and emotional moments.

I love CG but this is way too much! Just because you can render a zillion particles, doesnt mean you should.

It looks and feels so digital, it really takes me out of the movie and i focus more on the 'no fucking way that could've made that'.

Camera moves are ridiculous, it's about as realistic as spiderman swinging through new york. When the camera is moving impossibly, it breaks the line of reality instantly.
