Saying person A should've won is so stupid when you can't even be there to taste any of the dishes. The diner cook's first 3 dishes were all criticized and only his last dish was good.
The cook was pretty good. His onion soup and beef hash looked awesome. However, Sakai went above and beyond to use onions in creative ways, such as the mousse (which was also nicely presented).
yeah, the diner chef should have won. Oh wells, still good, i like the new HQ version. I don't have to see huge pixels for the food. GREAT JOB ARCHO89
Man. The diner chef/Ohmiya should have won this. Sakai's presentation was great, but Ohmiya's originality was amazing. He stayed with his strengths *and managed to create new things, at the same time. Sakai seemed to just do the same kind of things he always does (like the tilefish, or whatever).
Taste... I can't say, but based on the judges' comments, it seems like it was slightly more in favour of Ohmiya over Sakai. Oh, well.
yeah i know, i think they let sakai-san win coz its an insult if a diner chef would beat him. but actually, he's an established french chef who chose to have a diner.

Wonderful! Another upload. I was overjoyed to see it sitting in my subs.
This was a good one; I liked the theme. I wish the diner cook had won, though. He put his heart and soul into it, while Sakaisan seemed to coast. Oh, well. It was still great to watch.
That diner cook deserved a win, but it was so early in Iron Chef that to have Sakai lose to a diner cook would have probably irreparably damaged Sakai-san's reputation.
Sorry Ohmiya, but you're a winner in my book! Diner food rules!
i'm here hungry with my mouth watering and my stomach growling,,,

I don't understand. Even when the critics talk in favor of the challenger the Iron Chef always ends up winning anyway,

I would love to try the Hashed beef on rice. Must be tasty.

I hate when they don't show the judges scores.

French onion soup, or something ala baked onion, would have been just too predictable.

I would really like to go to Ohmiya's diner, his food looked so much better and he should've won!

Of course they'd keep the working man down. Cooks represent!
Chefs are the bourgeois oppressors of food.

Without actually being there to taste hard to say who's was best. They both made some sort of French onion soup, no doubt good.
The challenger's beef hash and rice - no foie gras, no truffles, just good, honest diner fare. I would have loved a taste.

I agree. It's the regional diner foods that offer the best experience in my mind. But Sakai's onion roll also looked great.

IMO, the diner cook won. Comments from the tasters reflect Ohmiya-san is better.
