  • Hi: Sonoma County, California here: can you recommend a facility/doctor in this area for asprin desensitisation? I know there are a few, but after my experiances with a few bad doctors in this area (!!!), I was hoping that you could point me to a good one since this whole process makes me very nervous! Thanks much for the great vids. (Sacramento/North San Francisco area)

  • Hi.

These are great videos. Thanks for this series. Can you please advise what the indicative dose for Asprin would be after the Asprin desensitisation. Does the patient have to take Asprin each day forever from the date of the desensitisation?.

Thanks again for this excellent series.

  • Hi,

I just went through my 5h polypose surgery and I'm seriously thinking of starting aspirin desensitization. I am an MD myself and have suffering of Samter's syndrome since 2000, when I was diagnosed and had my 1st polypectomy, but never thought of doing aspirin desensitization until now. Can you please give me your email address so I could talk to you about how should I proceed? Here in Romania there aren't many allergologists (none that I know of anyway) that have experience with aspirin...

  • Thank you sir for taking the time to make this series. I have very bad polyps, very severe asthma which has hospitalized me 100+ times. I have never tried aspirin, but take ibuprofen without issue. Does this mean I am not sensitive to aspirin or are they different?

  • @yellowfever13

Patients often don't know if they have had a reaction. It can be delayed for 2-3 hours, occassionally longer. Find an allergist who is familiar with this topic and seek their advice. I can't give anything but general advice without seeing someone.

Definitely ask about whether you can be tested for aspirin sensitivity.

  • WOW thank you. I've heard about triad asthma and was finally was able to understand my symptoms. Asthma, polyps, lack of smell. I've experienced all these. I didn't know about asprin desensitization though. Here's the thing, I had a bad reaction with asprin as a kid but have taken it as an adult with no bad effects. Does that mean I still have triad asthma? Or could I have already 'desensitized' myself? Thanks.

  • HI,

Its difficult to know. What you describe is not too common. An allergist could help sort it out.

    Good Luck.
