9:43 - perhaps the most overplayed hit of the 80's - along with I Melt with you by Modern English. Great songs, but overplayed to the neglect of other great songs of the era that deserve to be heard.
@Conquissstador OMD - So in love; Orchestral Manoeuvres in the dark to be more specific; this group made one of the most delicate and romantic songs we could ever hear; another jewell from the 80's; first time I heard this song I got extremely thrilled about the entonation of Andy McCluskey
Only 80's. This is hit-machine! "Radio Tapes 80" (search in google) is trandy music of the 80's. With smoke, strobes and discoball. Dance Synth-pop, melodic new-wave, and certainly top hit playboys this great decade.
Um? I think you got some top 40's mix in this, which isn't true New Wave. When I think of New Wave I think of the music played on KROQ in LA. in the 80's. To many people confuse top 40's with New Wave just because it was played on MTV during that time.
I'm a 16 years-old 80's music fan!! i wish we had this music nowadays.. It's more elaborated, not necessary about sex or drugs and with an unique rhythm!
@warhero296 What's wrong with listening to both? I considered myself a NW freak and a headbanger all throughout elementary and high school. tayed up catching both 120 Minutes and Headbanger's Ball on MTV every weekend....when they actually still played videos!
@warhero296 No worries..metal survives to...repeat itself in its eternal monotonous DRONE of howls and guitar buzzing, synths are all around now oh and it seems modern rap/hiphop/urban rhythms have pushed metal to the hole where it belongs (again)
Great playlist but quite a few of these in my opinion is not categorized as new wave. Like culture club, howard jones, thompson twins, eurthymics, the police.
To hell what some kids nowadays think (negative) about 80's music. They can have Justin Bieber and Rebecca Black. But music from the 80's is what I call "real music."
I'm hoping if someone out there can help me - looking for a song, pretty sure UK act, time period circa 79 - 83, has a bit of a Freeeze sound - Had a guy singing a lyric similar to "That was my heart, don't be late" with some trumpet synth sounds over - it would then go to the bridge which had another guy almost rap "And there was something about it, that I never knew of it" with more trumpet like synth then back to the first lyric. These lyrics aren't accurate sadly hence google no help. HELP!
95% of teens these days listen to the same formulaic, crappy pop over and over again. If you're one of the 5% who still listens to real music, thumb this up, then copy and paste it to at least 5 videos. Don't let the spirit of rock and rol

@NancyinColorado You are splitting hair, all these bands are more or less new wave. The only band that I can say conclusively not new wave is the Tubes.

J'aimerais bien que vous veniez l'écouter, il est disponible sur ma chaîne, et que vous me fassiez part de votre avis. Votre opinion m'aiderait à progresser.

Have to agree with some of the comments here, Whilst it's always great to hear an 80's compilation, there's only about 3 or 4 artists on here that can truly be classed as New Wave. Very disappointing :(
Kraftwerk, Ultravox, YMO, Gary Numan, Duran Duran, Kim Wilde, Missing Persons, Alphaville, Yazoo, and Berlin would be THE BEST New Wave bands in my opinion. Although I absolutely adore Blondie, I don't consider them a "new wave" band per se after listening to all of their albums. SUPER important band though.
@DuaLeaD Blondie DEFINES new wave IMO. In fact the term new wave was originally created for early bands like Blondie, Talking Heads, etc., not for all the 80's bands. I think more than any other band from the 70's Blondie was hugely responsible for shaping the 80's combo of dance and rock sound of "new wave" of all the british artists because they incorporated punk, dance and pop into a very distinct sound!
If you don't think of Blondie as new wave how would you classify them then?
"Destination Unknown" by Missing Persons at 2:30. Great song, great band. I think they were overlooked and underrated by a lot of people. Drummer Terry Bozzio went on to become a legend and a real pioneer in the drumming community. The guy's a monster player. Anyway, I always have this tune or "Walking in L.A." on my iPod. The 80's were so awesome!!
Some of these songs awaken memories and emotions I had as a child growing up through the 80's!
Anyone who misses this era MUST check out Electro Kill Machine. A new band from Basildon, Essex (same town as Depeche Mode and Yazoo). I saw them last month in London and I am hooked. Check out their vid!

I heard that New Wave tried to kill the metal (Tenacious D The Metal) "But they failed! As they were thrown to the ground!" I think that stuff playing is pretty good music.
