Religion is or was a part of the people. Every population had his religion. As long as it was not violant there is no problem. The problems begann when some religion thinks that they have the only right religion and the other are wrong.

I think that the universe is a huge biotope where huge beings are living. Are they gods? The universe had exist for ever, may be in an other shape. Mass can tranform in energy and energy in mass. When the sun is shinig plants grow. Energy is transformed in mass. When you eat(mass) is transformed in heat and your temperature stays at 37 °C. Mass becomes energy .Out of a huge concentration of energy the universe was formed. But nothing comes from nothing. This energy was formed by mass and so on.

There is a difference between religion and science. Religion believe things that you can't prove with science. Once science proves something that you believe, you don't BELIEVE it anymore but you KNOW.
