  • Great video. It works! Something on youtube really works lol. Just went to the "more" option and it let me send. Fast easy. Thanks. Know if I could just get hiking trails on it!

  • Great video! When you hit "Send", can you upload to your Garmin, the street view photo?

  • i tried this with my new Garmin Dakota20. using IE had a problem but with Firefox it installed a plugin and worked fine. very handy if u are in a hurry. using the laptop screen can be easier to find a place

  • will this work with the 60csx garmin?

  • Google maps doesn't show "send" for me, it shows Print, Email, and Link.

    Where is "SEND"????

  • you have to have a marker on the map. then click on it. select "more" and then "send" and then "gps" and then the brand you have

  • @redbeast2 ... Click Send and it shows an option for GPS

  • Works great with my Garmin nüvi 8 series.

Love not having to retype the address and search AGAIN on the device.

  • To transfer Google Maps location to Garmin GPS > Download/install Garmin Communicator Plugin > Link GPS to Computer via USB > Search Google Maps for location > Click Send > GPS (Send To Menu) > Select Garmin under Brand > Change any text (Name, Phone or Notes fields) For Garmin eTrex H edit name to 6 characters only. > Click Send > USB > Tick [_] your GPS name > Click Send to GPS Location is now available in GPS Favorites (or in WAYPOINTS on eTrex H)
  • That's pretty nifty, but I find it easier to just search for the damn place straight from my gps

  • So what does this work on. Not my Garmin Edge 705.

It goes through the motions but cannot find it.

  • i have a garmin 260, it works BUT i can not find where it is.

  • Is there a way to get Garmin 200 series to work with google maps? HELP, Urgent!!

  • wow, there is scratching at the end of the video's background music.

    just observing

  • How do I get the GPS button to show when I want to "send" the map?? Its only show "email". No more.

  • @carareto u have to use The Garmin Communicator plugin, which lets your browser talk to your Garmin device.

  • You forgot to mention that this doesn't work for the garmin 200 series

  • ah, yeah, so what happens after it's sent? you can't find the address on the garmin, and so can't use it.

  • Too many steps and too non-standard. Just f'ing send the thing directly to one's GPS vs. going first to a web page user has to have established beforehand by opening an account, etc. etc. etc. etc. On the mac, the USB design is non-standard. The icon does not differentiate the device from any other mounted thing (i.e., should have done it like Apple did with the iPod) and after ejecting, if user then unplugs the USB cable, get that idiotic message about removing a device incorrectly.

  • I agree here, trying to do this send to on a Mac is just plain silly. Whats more, I really want to be able to send my route to my Garmin, I could care less about the destination.

  • Disagree: I had no problem using this with Firefox, a nuvi 200W and MacBook.

  • Not the point. Usability sucks on the thing. Too many steps. Not a matter of whether u had a "problem" - it's just too many steps. There are standards for good usability & this workflow fails those standards.

  • amazing !

  • Looks simple, and a great service but I don't have the option to send to my GPS? Why?

  • Check the google map page you are using to find your location.

  • After you "googled" the destination - a box will come up with letter A. Click the 'SEND ' here.

  • whats the backing music called on this video?

  • bum tata bum tata bum tuturu bum tata bum

  • how come i don't have that option on google maps i just have the send to email option

  • I only have the option of sending to email. I have a nuvi 250W, is this only available on more elaborate gps units?

  • It has to be an exact and correct address, otherwise the Send option will only show E-mail.

If you, for example, search for "6400 Dudley Dr Naples, FL" you'll find the GPS option.

  • you don't wanna use the SEND at the top of the page this dude is using. After you "googled" the destination - a box will come up with letter A. Click the 'SEND ' here. Also the youtube dude failed to mention to plug garmin in first, no brainer, but some may miss it.

  • Unfortunately video does not say WHERE "My Garmin Page" is! Is it on computer or on Garmin site or on Garmin device? I was given a used Garmin Quest2 with 2008 maps already loaded. Does one have to re-install maps to get this to work? Garmin makes finding things out difficult. Altho I have paper manual, I wanted to find the PDF on their site as I am legally blind and wanted to enlarge. It was icredibly hard to find that manual. Searching for "Quest 2" didn't seem to work. What did I do wrong?

  • Ok, I am new to my Summit HC, but where are the "favorites" on the actual device? Thank you.

  • Garmin guys:

i've been using this feature way too much, and love it as a first time, but is there any way to work in favorites category selection when sending info over to GPS?

It's beginning to get increasingly annoying and difficult to manually sort out all the locations. Taking this feature one step further I think would be a fantastic improvement. THANKS!!

  • Thanks for the great tips--very helpful, and I will definitely try this on my Nuvi 255w.

  • *LUV* that feature. Fantastic. THANKS!!

  • It would be great if a copy of these could be saved on the PC (or an SD card) as a backup. If the Garmin's Favorites were deleted when updating it (or for any other reason), you could easily restore the backup.

  • You can back them up. They are located in (Drive):\Garmin\GPX. Just copy the GPX folder. I actually renamed mine so I would know what they are.

  • It should just send it direct to the device.

  • I downloaded the new 2009 map to my Streetpilot c550 and I don't see much of an improvement. It still wants to send me weird directions when I already know the best way to go. And it doesn't show major stores that have been around for 2 years now.

  • The Streetpilot uses NAVTEQ maps. I've used my sisters Garmin which was fairly accurate, but I own a TomTom which uses Tele Atlas maps, and is my personal preference as far as picking the most efficient routing. I like the interface and the advanced features offered on the premium models like the GO 930.

  • How do I get the GPS button to show when I want to "send" the map - I only show "email" at this time. Thanks

  • What browser are you using? Have you installed the Communicator plug-in?

  • I use AOL pretty much exclusively - Guess I don't know how to install the Communicator plug-in. Help!

  • It doesn't work with AOL. Try Firefox.

  • Great job guys!! I'm lovin' this feature.

  • Good idea but it doesnt work in Malaysia or Singapore.

May i suggest also working with Wikipedia's Geohack to send waypoints to Garmin devices.

  • It is awesome! I've been waiting for this feature for a long time. Works well with a Mac.
