@baddog66 It was perfect. Since about season 6 or 7 I expected they would save that moment for the finale. It was brilliant how they spread out him getting his powers.
i was sucha a massive fan of the series, loved this scene, got goosebumps ffs!! but yeah ending wasn't great, just seemed a bit cringe toward the end, but still smalllville FTW! heard they're thinking of making a green arrow spin off... meh.
Quick question... Why did Jor-El think THIS suit was so important that he had to hold it in a block of ice? And please give me an answer other than "It was his destiny!" because Smallville used THAT bullcrap answer far too often. Meta-references should be used as side notes, not the entire point of the series.
@batmanlooksgood To be fair, Tom isn't that great an actor. He simply looks and sounds the part. So while he is great for portraying Superman, he doesn't bring anything to the character. Both George and Christopher Reeves brought something to him, the voice actor Tim Daly brought something to him, Dean Cain brought something, and we all wish we didn't know what Brandon Routh brought to him. But Tom? He pretty much played off of Christopher Reeves' portrayal.
So many emotions ran through me during this finale, Joy, hatred, sorrow, glee, all rolled into one, I was so happy they finished the series, and so sad they ended it, in my opinion I wish they never stopped Smallville, it could never really die in my view. I wish it would live on forever, and what pisses me off is, it's like it didn't win any awards for best t.v. show of the year? Why because it's over so? lol,
dont forget that smallville end of the begining of metropolis smallville spin off so we ll see tom welling and cast as well tom welling in his suit in 2012.
hey guys IF you love Smallville and Supernatural go to my channel and check out the TEASER TRAILER for an awesome looking indie horror film called THE DOORWAY its based on True Events and there are a TON of shout outs to Smallville and Supernatural...even the main character's name is DEAN...the movie is for wide-release coming soon and

QUESTION: i missed the final season of smallville and the season before that did
DID CLARK KENT EVER DRESS UP AS SUPERMAN ?
like i know he does but are their more episodes of him flying around in his suit saving people or was that how they ended it with him just flying in it?
Smallville Season 10 was my favorite season Tom Welling as Kalel/Clark Kent/Blur/Superman reached his destiny finally in the final season. He was trying so hard to be human and live a human life that people he cared, about we either injured, or killed. He was faced with many tests, adversaries and 5 I can name were his most dangerous. Brainiac, General Zod, Lex Luthor, Doomsday, and Darkseid.
bloggerboy@ now that's how you can destroy a whole ten years of building up excitement and expectations to only say you would be terrified to don the suit that Christopher reeve made famous among others before him, Tom should be proud to become Americas favorite superhero!
There was not a hint of excitement in Tom. Henry Cavill's interview was a lot better, he is both excited and humbled by the role.
And we really didn't get to "see" Tom as Superman either. Again, they didn't deliver but yet again teased about it. This is one of the reasons I know there won't be a Smallville tv-movie or whatever. The writers wouldn't know how to do it.
appolonas101@ actually Tom welling himself mentioned during the years and seasons that the production sat down and talked of a future possible movie but it went undone over time but tom also says, it's possible :) just check out behind the scene clips of smallville/backstage interviews and watch and listen.
Christianlennon@ so a smallville movie is in the making? cause myself a superman forever always have been, but i hear differently of a continuous for smallville.
No there isn't. Tom Welling will never don the suit. He turned down the role initially many times because he thought he'd have to wear it. In an interview that came out before the Finale he said he was terrified of the idea.
That's pretty much why we don't see him in the costume. Only cgi or a shirt rip. It hurt the show for 10 years and the story was dragged on forever. No way are they going to keep going at it. The talent of the writers doesn't extend beyond "homages".
to answer some questions I am very picky superman fan been ultimate fan for 30 years, it does not show full body shot of welling in suit to tease you for new film in 2013, it happens fast the transdicition to make it epic and legendary, its the end of the beginning, and its absolutely perfect, nothing could have been done better it is perfection to the start of the legend and myth of superman and what a homage to the superman movie 1978, a tribute to all the supermans and great tribute to Chris
Be perfect for superman fans now knowing how massive and epic smallville was, to have a Metropolis , Superman Adult years idea for another 10 seasons, Amazing Show, epic legendary finale
this ending was AWESOME, but it could have been better, we didn't see a proper full body image of him with the s. suit, they're either close ups to his face or far away were u only saw almost a blur! hardly saw him flying, and it all happened kinda fast!
I actually think that Tom Welling would have made a really fun and terriffic television Superman. It's a shame that they never choose to just make a great Smallville / Adventure of Superman show. I think it would have helped a lota problems that the series had.
@canadianguy0987 i could send you a thousand links that affirm it was a copyright issue, sorry for taking this too personnal, but its because i am really sure of what i am saying !
@venomvsspidey11 youtube dont aload to post link you geniouss ! i have to do all the researsh for you,, i will send you some like in private,, brainiac
@canadianguy0987 you are a total idiot sir,i said it was even on wiki, not that wiki is good. arguing with you is like arguing with religious extremist,, they are wrong,, but too stupid to understand. "After meeting with the president of Warner Bros. Television, series developers Gough and Millar pitched their "no tights, no flights" rule" but thats not even the real issue,, smallville could not show a superman in a full costume it was a legal right issue,, everone in the world fuking knows that
@canadianguy0987 you are a toltal idiot its common knowledge it was a legal issue,, i written everywhere on the internet,, stop lying and assuming thing on the internet, it was a legal issue. its even said on wikipedia
what fucking shame he didnt put the suit on, that was heart of show seeing that, theres not fucking reason they counldnt give us 10mins in superman outfit and smiling at ppl as he was flying! tom is so far in superman historyt worst superman ever!
AND FUCK YOU ALL THAT DONT THINK SO! horriable wrtiers and ending!
@Sithemp11 your an idiot!! it wasnt copyright! if copyright was an issue half the shit on the show wouldnt have happend.. Tom Welling refused to wear the suit. it has been said in a lot of interveiws. they should have never hired that peice of shit in the first place. he let all the fans down cause he couldnt be seen with his underwear on the outside for even one episode.. you need to get your information straight. and stop believing wikipedia.. FUCKING RETARD!!
@turok14 shut the fuck up you fat fuk . i founded many links prooving whatt i said,, and i founded none claimming what you said. i said it was even writed on wikipedia,, not that wikipedia was my source,, i founded many websites, even michael rosenbaum offiicial website confirming what i said, so fuck you YOu are the fuking retard. you are just mad to be an obese ugly fag,
@Sithemp11 dont read new official stuff they said when that last episode came out.there not gonna tell fans on the last episode sorry everyone but Mr. Welling is being a spoiled bitch and wont wear suit.. they made something up. way back in the first few seasons Tom Welling said before they hired him that he would never wear the suit.. but they hired him cause he is clearly perfect for Clark Kent and at the time they didnt plan to show the suit.and didnt think they'd go more than 3 seasons
@turok14 well i found many proffesionnial website talking about it as a legal issue, many many proffessional website, actor website, director website.,,, ,,,,,,, and i didnt found even one confirming what you said, only angry forums fans. anyway im tired to argue about this tired to send the thousand links to everyone,, ive been debating with so many people about this.
You're kidding right? i swear all you fanboys jizz over donners piece of crap... it's called Smallville, its about a boy facing his destiny its not about Superman... sigh
@TheCrisisKings it was until he went and started working in metropolis...so it was set as a story about Clark kent...but turned into the story of Superman
@TheCrisisKings no..lol, DC have licence issues with whats used and how!! DC reacently leased the costume licence rights to the man of steel project which started during Smallville season 9, this entitles the all rights reserved to conditions, which at the time they weren't sure weather they would use the returns suit or perhaps design another, because of this and because they had the suit rights they were unable to show the suit in all its glory at the end of Smallville
@apollonas101 but they did show it. They purposefully showed it as brief as it was, because that was the point of the story. It wasn't about Superman, or else Superman would have been there more. Its about Clark's journey
Clark wore two different costumes and was called the Blur. Other than that he was Superman. It's anticlimatic to not show us everything in plain sight after ten years of build up.
In S10's Masquerade Clarks says the name Clark Kent is just that...a name. He says he's always been the Blur.
Smallville teased with the aspect and used enough of the source material to be called a Superman show. If not in S5 then at least in S8 and onward where he becomes a superhero.
@TheCrisisKings Clark was the disguise..it was Kal-el's jouney in realising his destiny!!...thats what took him soo long in each season because he kept trying to be human, when realing this!! his destiny became more apparant
@apollonas101 I agree. But even in this scene, just previous to this video, Jor-El tells Clarks that it was this journey, the only we watched all these year, that made him the hero the world needed.
@TheShockMaster And this show was about trying to love the man before the suit. Why we care so much......and the things that his experiences in Smallville taught him
@TheCrisisKings up until he moved to metropolis and started working at the daily planet, because then it was very much based on Superman.....so your partly right but also partly wrong...sorry!!
@apollonas101 actually, him beign able to fly was the final step. While he was in Metropolis, he even said that is trying to figure out who he is. It doesnt matter if Metropolis was involved, he was basically there for seasons anyway
@TheCrisisKings actually no its not...Smaalville's based on the man of tomorrow and precrisis arch,..in which case your wrong!!..and Superman is based souly on where he is rather than what he can do in the story, and secondly if it was simply about the Clark kent story they would've then wrapped the show when he graduated from high school, the first concept was based on Clark but then they changed it due to how big the show got,
@apollonas101 Im sorry sir, youve missed the entire point. Im not even saying this, the creators and actors are. Its not about the ending, we know he becomes Superman. It about how...what part of his life made him who he was. Clark didnt become Superman after high school. There is no basis for that. Its his character.
@TheCrisisKings well if you follow the comics of which i do, theres two universes of which Smallville is based the original...man of tomorrow aand precrisis Superman and pre, he was already Superboy while living in Smallville, and his progression as the character was based on every part of life not just one, he was Super as Clark in highschool..Super as the blur, i fear you've missed the point, the reason he didn't fly was his inability to accept himself as Superman.
@apollonas101 "inability to accept himself...." thats the whole series. Thats why Jor El kept the suit from Clark until this scene. That it was Clark's time in Smallville with Lana, Chloe, Oliver, Ma and Pa Kent, Lex, Lionel, Lois, etc. that made him appreciate who he was and accept his destiny. Thats what we see in this finale
@Bloggerboy1000 he seemed to be ready, however his constitution wasn't'' and it had to be in order to tackle the darkness, unless he be compromised him self..and the world be doomed!!!
@apollonas101 It was a blurry of emotions. First Clark is too confident, then he's too weak for the darkness. After that he is weight by the past and worries too much about the future. Then he's immune to the darkness again. Felt like they were creating problems as they went along just to drag yet even more.
The inability to fly was a mental problem, yet he flew in Collateral...oh I mean Inception/Matrix-ville.
Clark doesn't even address the suit, it's just there...and nothing..
@Bloggerboy1000 i have to agree with you on number of things, but because the budet was cut from the show via DC last word discisons, to do with aspects of how issues would then materialise, pending a new project, i could then understand it, but the suit or more notably his kryptonian clothes was supposed to be an element of the fortress, that produces the tri kryptonian flag of the three tribes,..how they quickly had Clark given it by his dad via fortress was bad i must say
@apollonas101 I don't think DC had anything to with SV's budget. More likely it's the CW. And as I recall DC gave SV pretty much free reign to do as they liked.
I mean the producers talked about how they were gonna throw in everything from the kitchen sink...and it didn't work as it was too much material and too many filler episodes that just didn't give enough time to deal with the Darkseid arc. It all just fell flat imo.
@Bloggerboy1000 DC did have alot to do with licence, in term of what Smallville could use and what they couldn't use to terms and condition of the trademark ltd, because they had already stamped a new project which was in the works, thats why they didn't know which Superman symbol they could use unless DC where developing a new one!!! they involved too many rubbish episodes as you said about basically ''nothing'' or about other heros..lool,
@apollonas101 But it still shouldn't have had any impact on the plot execution of the season. They bought the Superman Returns suit well before the season started. They must have known it was okay to use it.
The point I'm making is that the plots were a mess. That doesn't have anything to do with what characters they were allowed to use because they had plenty. JLA & JSA members etc.
I don't think DC cared that much in the end. I mean that's why we got episodes like Fortune.
@TheCrisisKings although he was all along...thats why in the series final Jor-el tells him ''you've always had the power within you Kal-el'' meanin what ive just said
@TheCrisisKings actually no its not...Smallville's based on the man of tomorrow and precrisis arch,..in which case your wrong!!..and Superman is based souly on where he is rather than what he can do in the story, and secondly if it was simply about the Clark kent story they would've then wrapped the show when he graduated from high school, the first concept was based on Clark but then they changed it due to how big the show got,
@canadianguy0987 but DC have warned WB that another Superman project that dosen't for what ever reason meet specific standards would then mean that WB are exclusivily stripped of ''all rights concerning Superman'' in which case they wont be able to licence another Superman project, so as Tom Welling said he would not only be very interested in Superman role but i think alot of the new age tradition fans would be aswell, certainly to see or relate to someone there used to
@canadianguy0987 DC licenced the group making the new man of steel, they were however in early production and the licence gave them calling on this specific suit, in which case the Smallville people would of had to come up with one of there own or left with being able to show this suit but in limited fashion,..personally i think the man of steel is already dead in the water...there basically making a movie based on 20 or more of the best Smallville episodes..ohh but without Welling..
It is, DC gave it to them. They also had the option of using the Christopher Reeve costume, but they decided that the Returns one fit more with their universe.
It is, DC gave it to them. They also had the option of using the Christopher Reeve costume, but they decided that the Returns one fit more with their universe.
i quit watching the show after season six cuz it got so lame (in my opinion), but after seeing clips like this of what goes on in the last season, i'm tempted to go back and see what i missed.
anyone notice that the cape shot is almost the same as the vision of the cape in season 1? kinda like the prophecy coming true right then and there. XD
1 Special Effects could of been better and should of showed Tom Welling in the Superman suit
2 Fights were bad, green arrow took everybody out easy and yes it was a great moment when clark started to fly, but to fly into Darkseid and he's done alrealy?
3 what happen to pete?
4 they never once called him superman. The journey was over
5 How it should of ended was clark rip shirt off become superman, save the day then fly outerspace and smile 4 the cam!!
@venomvsspidey11 1. His contract was renewed with the same rules.
2. Show me ONE image in which you see him full-size flying. Nope, there aren't any. They only show only the head or another part of his body, but they never show him full-size. He might as well be running when they show his head. Just like with the suit.
@LegolasManowarMJ why does it matter if you only see his head or only see him from a distance??we both know hes flying. And why would they make a contract for tom saying no tights or flights? what, do they think hes gonna go behind they're back and make an episode without they're permission? i mean come on, they control the show not the actors .
Id like to know where your getting your info, im always open to learning more.
@venomvsspidey11 That was the biuggest rule ever since the show was pitched. Otherwise it would have been another Superboy TV series. Search for Look Up In The Sky: The Amazing Story of Superman DVD. It was released in 2006 and features the entire history of Superman in comics and other media.
@LegolasManowarMJ It was never "A Rule" it was just a guideline alfred gough miles millar fallowed and something they would constantly state in interviews to show that the show wasn't about superman but about clark kent , it was never said that it was part of any sort of contract.
This was genius!!! If we had seen Tom in a suit, that's all we would have seen and everybody would argue about "no that's the wrong suit" or "that suit looks dumb in smallville" or "why did they not change it". At least this way we know Clark put on "A" Superman costume as he flies off to make his public debut no longer in the shadows. Plus they showed that when Clark ascends to become Superman, we no longer see him normally but as a larger than life figure out of our reach. He became a symbol.
it was a good show. would have been better if it was titled as superman the early years sometimes, because he was never superman he was always clark. and that way less people would be annoyed by the fact that tom never once actually wore the suit
tom welling probably didn't want to have the whole superman curse upon him, especially when you look at it from a different view, every superman game was a flop, didn't have good numbers and the past supermen either had permanent bodily injuries like reeve once had or even death lets not forget kirk alyan or steve reeve so it makes sense but Tom! you was basically superman for 10yrs without the suit, the finale you should've gave us a treat.
From what I've read.. it was the fact that Welling didn't want to wear the suit. Which is pretty stupid. You've been playing an iconic character for the past 10 years.. and you want nothing to do with actually being that character. Why the hell do people want him in a Superman movie again? He was a shitty Clark Kent.
Yeah....bit of a cocktease of a scene....but even so, when he glances up and finds himself alone in the fortress, and takes off - still a good moment!
Perhaps there will be more scenes when the final season is released on dvd. I doubt it, but it would be nice too hear the audio commentary on what happened, or didn't happen. lol
Yeah it sucks we didn't get a proper view of Tom in the suit but it's because the producers did not have the rights (they did not buy the Superman rights) so ...
@darkfoot that's rediculus. why is it ok for them to show a crappy CGI superman, the superman suit itself, use all the other superman characters, the superman storylines and so on, yet can't show one frame of welling in the suit?
Watched the show for Clark Kent, never really expected to see him in the suit. All in all I can't really complain, except for the build up of Darkseid where he just fly's through him. That was a severe disappointment.
@leaapolline You clearly never saw the finale ending, this is spot on. No more pretending, or fake crap of Super Man Returns crap. uh uh this is the real deal
LMAO! THANK GOD! IT'S FINALLY OVER! Loved how they didn't give us a clear shot of him in the suit the pricks This was worst thing to a happen to a superhero franchise since Ang Lee and Bryan Singer. Now we can get to the REAL Man of Steel Story Movie Epic Lead by DarkKnight director Christopher Nolan. And Bury this 90210, Dawsons Creek, One Tree Hill, Horse Shit in the Barn where it belongs. R.I.P Tom Wellings career he had such potential to becoming a great actor dam he was cute too!
I never realized the Fortress of Solitude was that tall. Took Clark forever to clear the top of that thing and that was after basically sonic-booming his ass out of there.
im from scotland and aggree with with what people are saying tom sould be the next super : he mybe in his 30s but who cares chris reeves was in his late 30s early 40s in his last superman movie. come on lets have a patition on this lol.
@Antf222 I thought that when the show began the contract said they would never have Tom wear the suit or fly. That is why we never saw him in the full suit.
@Antf222 So warner bros invest in a 10 series show about the origins of superman and on the final episode they didn't make sure to secure the rights to a full body costume shot, way to fuck up Warner Bros.
yeah, I wanted to see the full body suit...anyway, this is the story of clark becoming superman, not the superman's adventures, so it is ok they dont show the suit
@Antf222 DC licenced the group making the new man of steel, they were however in early production and the licence gave them calling on this specific suit, in which case the Smallville people would of had to come up with one of there own or left with being able to show this suit but in limited fashion,..personally i think the man of steel is already dead in the water...there basically making a movie based on 20 or more of the best Smallville episodes..ohh but without Welling..it wont work
The suit that he "wears" isnt from Superman returns, if u notice the suit that jonathan kent hands clark it doesnt have all the tiny "s" symbols on the chest piece like the real Superman Returns costume
Frankly I never expected them to show him in the suit. He's got a wonderful physique, but not for the suit, Maybe it didn't fit? Possibly they thought he looked silly for the waist down? Maybe they didn't want to have to purchase red boots. Anyway, it wasn't meant to be. I just wanted to see him fly. It was kind of hard to picture him waring the suit. Now, CGI could have done something to make him look his best in the suit, so I can sympathize with those of you who were anticipating it.
Due to Contract reasons with the actor playing Superman in the new movie, the producers were not allowed to show Welling in the full costume. Those shots were done this way to honor that contract. Sucks for us the fans but with the new movie coming out soon there would be a Superman war so to speak if there were actual images of Welling in head to toe garb.
the new movie with cavill is already dead in the water...the general public will demand a movie from the Smallville people even if its low budget.......NO'' SHOW RUNS 10 YEARS AND THATS IT''.... look at the reception Star Trek got when they went to the big screen after the 60s series finished
JESUS... everyone stop bitching about not seeing him in the suit.... THEY COULD NOT DO IT BECAUSE OF COPYRIGHT be happy that they could at least do what they did and it was awesome and alos lucky that they could have used the music in the final scene which was epic
I grew up with superboy flying at age 11, this show ran way too long without flying

this ending was AWESOME, but it could have been better, we didn't see a proper full body image of him with the s. suit, they're either close ups to his face or far away were u only saw almost a blur! hardly saw him flying, and it all happened kinda fast!
Loecraveiro 3 months ago
@Loecraveiro
I actually think that Tom Welling would have made a really fun and terriffic television Superman. It's a shame that they never choose to just make a great Smallville / Adventure of Superman show. I think it would have helped a lota problems that the series had.

Smallville wasn't about Superman....it was about Clark Kent
TheCrisisKings 4 months ago 65
@TheCrisisKings it was until he went and started working in metropolis...so it was set as a story about Clark kent...but turned into the story of Superman
apollonas101 3 months ago
@apollonas101 Its always been about Clark. The moment he flies away with the costume he is Superman, thus we still only focus on Clark's face
TheCrisisKings 3 months ago
@TheCrisisKings no..lol, DC have licence issues with whats used and how!! DC reacently leased the costume licence rights to the man of steel project which started during Smallville season 9, this entitles the all rights reserved to conditions, which at the time they weren't sure weather they would use the returns suit or perhaps design another, because of this and because they had the suit rights they were unable to show the suit in all its glory at the end of Smallville
apollonas101 3 months ago
@apollonas101 but they did show it. They purposefully showed it as brief as it was, because that was the point of the story. It wasn't about Superman, or else Superman would have been there more. Its about Clark's journey
TheCrisisKings 3 months ago
@TheCrisisKings
Bloggerboy1000 3 months ago
@TheCrisisKings Clark was the disguise..it was Kal-el's jouney in realising his destiny!!...thats what took him soo long in each season because he kept trying to be human, when realing this!! his destiny became more apparant
apollonas101 3 months ago
@apollonas101 I agree. But even in this scene, just previous to this video, Jor-El tells Clarks that it was this journey, the only we watched all these year, that made him the hero the world needed.
TheCrisisKings 3 months ago
@TheCrisisKings
True, but as someone said to me not too long ago, "The whole reason we cared about Clark is because of who he would become."
TheShockMaster 3 months ago
@TheShockMaster And this show was about trying to love the man before the suit. Why we care so much......and the things that his experiences in Smallville taught him
TheCrisisKings 3 months ago
@TheCrisisKings it would still be interesting to see him go on as superman in a spin off of this though
SuperWolfmike 2 months ago
@TheCrisisKings up until he moved to metropolis and started working at the daily planet, because then it was very much based on Superman.....so your partly right but also partly wrong...sorry!!
apollonas101 2 months ago
@apollonas101 actually, him beign able to fly was the final step. While he was in Metropolis, he even said that is trying to figure out who he is. It doesnt matter if Metropolis was involved, he was basically there for seasons anyway
TheCrisisKings 2 months ago
@TheCrisisKings actually no its not...Smaalville's based on the man of tomorrow and precrisis arch,..in which case your wrong!!..and Superman is based souly on where he is rather than what he can do in the story, and secondly if it was simply about the Clark kent story they would've then wrapped the show when he graduated from high school, the first concept was based on Clark but then they changed it due to how big the show got,
apollonas101 2 months ago
@apollonas101 Im sorry sir, youve missed the entire point. Im not even saying this, the creators and actors are. Its not about the ending, we know he becomes Superman. It about how...what part of his life made him who he was. Clark didnt become Superman after high school. There is no basis for that. Its his character.
TheCrisisKings 2 months ago
@TheCrisisKings well if you follow the comics of which i do, theres two universes of which Smallville is based the original...man of tomorrow aand precrisis Superman and pre, he was already Superboy while living in Smallville, and his progression as the character was based on every part of life not just one, he was Super as Clark in highschool..Super as the blur, i fear you've missed the point, the reason he didn't fly was his inability to accept himself as Superman.
apollonas101 2 months ago
@apollonas101 "inability to accept himself...." thats the whole series. Thats why Jor El kept the suit from Clark until this scene. That it was Clark's time in Smallville with Lana, Chloe, Oliver, Ma and Pa Kent, Lex, Lionel, Lois, etc. that made him appreciate who he was and accept his destiny. Thats what we see in this finale
TheCrisisKings 2 months ago
@TheCrisisKings
Too bad it felt like a light switch moment after a whole season's worth of backpedalling. Clark was ready in Salvation if not even before.
Bloggerboy1000 2 months ago
@Bloggerboy1000 he seemed to be ready, however his constitution wasn't'' and it had to be in order to tackle the darkness, unless he be compromised him self..and the world be doomed!!!
apollonas101 2 months ago
@apollonas101 It was a blurry of emotions. First Clark is too confident, then he's too weak for the darkness. After that he is weight by the past and worries too much about the future. Then he's immune to the darkness again. Felt like they were creating problems as they went along just to drag yet even more.
The inability to fly was a mental problem, yet he flew in Collateral...oh I mean Inception/Matrix-ville.
Clark doesn't even address the suit, it's just there...and nothing..
Bloggerboy1000 2 months ago
@Bloggerboy1000 i have to agree with you on number of things, but because the budet was cut from the show via DC last word discisons, to do with aspects of how issues would then materialise, pending a new project, i could then understand it, but the suit or more notably his kryptonian clothes was supposed to be an element of the fortress, that produces the tri kryptonian flag of the three tribes,..how they quickly had Clark given it by his dad via fortress was bad i must say
apollonas101 2 months ago
@apollonas101 I don't think DC had anything to with SV's budget. More likely it's the CW. And as I recall DC gave SV pretty much free reign to do as they liked.
I mean the producers talked about how they were gonna throw in everything from the kitchen sink...and it didn't work as it was too much material and too many filler episodes that just didn't give enough time to deal with the Darkseid arc. It all just fell flat imo.
S8 & 9 were so strong because of it's villains.
Bloggerboy1000 2 months ago
@Bloggerboy1000 DC did have alot to do with licence, in term of what Smallville could use and what they couldn't use to terms and condition of the trademark ltd, because they had already stamped a new project which was in the works, thats why they didn't know which Superman symbol they could use unless DC where developing a new one!!! they involved too many rubbish episodes as you said about basically ''nothing'' or about other heros..lool,
apollonas101 2 months ago
@apollonas101 But it still shouldn't have had any impact on the plot execution of the season. They bought the Superman Returns suit well before the season started. They must have known it was okay to use it.
The point I'm making is that the plots were a mess. That doesn't have anything to do with what characters they were allowed to use because they had plenty. JLA & JSA members etc.
I don't think DC cared that much in the end. I mean that's why we got episodes like Fortune.
Bloggerboy1000 2 months ago

@canadianguy0987 but DC have warned WB that another Superman project that dosen't for what ever reason meet specific standards would then mean that WB are exclusivily stripped of ''all rights concerning Superman'' in which case they wont be able to licence another Superman project, so as Tom Welling said he would not only be very interested in Superman role but i think alot of the new age tradition fans would be aswell, certainly to see or relate to someone there used to
apollonas101 5 months ago
@canadianguy0987 DC licenced the group making the new man of steel, they were however in early production and the licence gave them calling on this specific suit, in which case the Smallville people would of had to come up with one of there own or left with being able to show this suit but in limited fashion,..personally i think the man of steel is already dead in the water...there basically making a movie based on 20 or more of the best Smallville episodes..ohh but without Welling..

5 Things that made smallville final GREAT
1. It was two hour show
2. Lex came back, and later forgetting everything which kinda fits in with superman the animated series and justice league if u watched it.
3. Clark looks back at the past 10 years
4. Clark finally Flys for the first time
5. Clark father hands him the suit, and he becomes SUPERMAN!!!

5 Things that wasent so GOOD
1 Special Effects could of been better and should of showed Tom Welling in the Superman suit

@LegolasManowarMJ well his contract expired after season 7 and if you haven't noticed it looks like he flying to me
venomvsspidey11 5 months ago
@venomvsspidey11 1. His contract was renewed with the same rules.
2. Show me ONE image in which you see him full-size flying. Nope, there aren't any. They only show only the head or another part of his body, but they never show him full-size. He might as well be running when they show his head. Just like with the suit.
LegolasManowarMJ 5 months ago
@LegolasManowarMJ why does it matter if you only see his head or only see him from a distance??we both know hes flying. And why would they make a contract for tom saying no tights or flights? what, do they think hes gonna go behind they're back and make an episode without they're permission? i mean come on, they control the show not the actors .
Id like to know where your getting your info, im always open to learning more.
venomvsspidey11 5 months ago
@venomvsspidey11 That was the biuggest rule ever since the show was pitched. Otherwise it would have been another Superboy TV series. Search for Look Up In The Sky: The Amazing Story of Superman DVD. It was released in 2006 and features the entire history of Superman in comics and other media.
LegolasManowarMJ 5 months ago
@LegolasManowarMJ It was never "A Rule" it was just a guideline alfred gough miles millar fallowed and something they would constantly state in interviews to show that the show wasn't about superman but about clark kent , it was never said that it was part of any sort of contract.
venomvsspidey11 5 months ago
@venomvsspidey11 Watch the documentary. Talk afterwards. That was the only reason the Warners agreed.

diyingangel 5 months ago
This was genius!!! If we had seen Tom in a suit, that's all we would have seen and everybody would argue about "no that's the wrong suit" or "that suit looks dumb in smallville" or "why did they not change it". At least this way we know Clark put on "A" Superman costume as he flies off to make his public debut no longer in the shadows. Plus they showed that when Clark ascends to become Superman, we no longer see him normally but as a larger than life figure out of our reach. He became a symbol.

tom welling probably didn't want to have the whole superman curse upon him, especially when you look at it from a different view, every superman game was a flop, didn't have good numbers and the past supermen either had permanent bodily injuries like reeve once had or even death lets not forget kirk alyan or steve reeve so it makes sense but Tom! you was basically superman for 10yrs without the suit, the finale you should've gave us a treat.

EDWINO2007 8 months ago
