I wanna see them use this tech in new phones...Like when you slide it close the screen turns into a phone...But it would have to be touch screen which would come out probably a year after this hits the market...An color screens black & white is so 70's LoL we need hd quality on those things...So get to work...LoL jk
the device in the man's hand which unfolds is a cell fone....but the only problem is that it cant show colours...only black and white...u can read the last slide on the fone it displays... GSM(Global System for Mobile) barcalona 2007
I too would love to see this technology in in a handheld game system. I know realistically it'll be another few years before even the rigid form of eInk will handle a fast enough refresh rate for it though.
It wouldn't be that great on portable gaming systems since it has limited colour and also you wont be able to see the screen unless you're on broad daylight. It's like if you turn the backlight off on your iPod. Then you can only see the display if you're in the sun.
Why would you want a smaller screen? The whole point of flexible displays is so that you can have a relatively large screen in relatively small device.
Interesting tech, I do believe that the future of e-ink is in flexible display, although I'd like to see larger screens, that's the most interesting thing after all with flexible display.
Looks like a European design . . .

would it be impossible to have a touch screen for this?

This is pretty decent, but if it doesn't have open firmware and an accessible filesystem, I don't want it.

Incredible.
the technology uses natural light as apose to a backlight, so its better for your eyes.
I beleive there is a cellphone that uses this technology, but i'm not too sure about it being available for purchase.

There is a cell phone in the works, if not out already.
I cant wait, as a gamer i would love to see portable systems use this technology in the future.

I'm waiting till they make the screen smaller - with more colors - and maybe in the far distant future - even with video

Well, i read that their dream is to make it so cheap, that newspapers could use them, imagine newspapers like in harry potter movies :P

if it was like the same proportions as a piece of paper and CHEAPLY priced, it would be amazing. perhaps make it solar powered??
missapple22002 4 years ago
it doesn't take too much energy because it's eInk. with li-ion can be use a day long

what we need is a CHEAP A4 reader, for all these A4 PDFs
if it would be also flexible, it would be only a plus :D
