  • The persecution of the fundamentalist has nothing to do with polygamy. The government fears any group or individuals that are not a sheep. This is just another excuse by the government to persecute and deface . If having strong family and moral values as well as being a self sustaining people is a crime then i guess thy are guilty. I am not a member but do live close to them and i see a happy family oriented people that just want to be left alone.

  • yes and Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Moises, etc they were also poligamist

  • @Rocketermusic But God never ordered polygamy to them. And their lives were full of trouble because it. Similarly, God did not command Moses to lie to the Pharaoh, but he did, and trouble came out of it too.

The difference is, that Joseph claimed God commanded polygamy and lying. He also failed the true prophet test, married women who had husbands, married 14 year olds, lied to Emma, was a free mason, failed to translate an Egyptian funeral book, and denies the writings of the Bible.. etc etc

  • @clint25n Wow, I couldn't have said it better myself!!!!!

  • @clint25n oh he never, u ignorant pinhead; Exodus 21:10, 2 Samuel 5:13, 1 Chronicles 3:1-9, 14:3; 1 Kings 11:3, 2 Chronicles 11:21, Deuteronomy 21:15 and hundreds more, God gives laws and He can take them away any time, as He lives, He's never silent, i worship a living God

  • @Rocketermusic Although God allowed polygamy in the Bible, He never commanded it, as I said. He also allowed slavery, but never commanded it.

Here is God's description of a marriage..

“For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife [not wives], and they will become one flesh [not fleshes]” Genesis 2:24.

God probably allowed polygamy in ancient times to provide for women who might otherwise starve, as He did with slaves. And we should obey the laws of the land.

  • @clint25n Then by the same logic, he would probably allow polygamy in modern times to provide for women who might otherwise become starved, become homeless, become under assault, become without means to adequately support their children (i.e. previous husband / partner died in Middle East).

You cannot overlook exclusivity a thousand years ago when the same circumstances exist today, correct?

  • @UllrPallson

God would indeed allow for polygamy in modern times given those situations.

Here's your problem. God commands us to obey the laws of the lands. Joseph and early mormons broke US laws by secretly practicing polygamy, when the men of the old testament practiced polygamy without breaking any laws of the land.

So yes, polygamy is possible in certain lands under certain circumstances, but I really doubt those 14 year olds were starving women in need of Joseph to feed them.

  • @clint25n If generalizations are to pass as fact, then every black is a convicted felon. If I read correctly, your post suggests that because some underage marriages occurred all plural marriages are wickedly unethical. As a side note, a study conducted years ago (which, perhaps, I could find a link to) discovered that of many thirty year olds who were single, married or plurally married the ones with "less testosterone" were those in plural marriages. I guess that puts the "sex drive" myth down

  • @Rocketermusic

God never commanded man to practice polygamy. He also never commanded slavery, though similarly, He gave stipulations for it since MAN was practicing it.

If you open your statement with "u ignorant pinhead" then you most likely do not worship the same God as me. And if the god you worship was once a man who had to earn his godhood, and did not create everything that ever existed, then you definitely do not worship the same God as I do. So I will surely agree with you there.
