Ray is more modern and is infact incredible vulnerable if you ask me. You just need to shoot a missle at rays leg and then shoot another in the face of ray and he's down in MGS2. If you shoot ray anywhere he gets damaged.

Rex: you had to shoot the raydom like 10 times until the cock pit opens then you gotta shoot at the cock pit another 10 times. If you shot rex anywhere else, it would've done no damage to him.

Rex = 20 hits max to beat MGS1

Ray = 2 hits max to beat MGS2

Rex wins

I thought RAY was much bigger than REX. In MGS2 Metal Gear RAY was soo damn big and was capable of destroying lots of REXes all alone; yet here they both are the same size.

Oh well, still a nice battle though.

Ray was designed as a fast acting and agile REX killer. Otacon upgraded rex to be as fast and agile as ray, he also installed a melee kicking system.

That's not even the RAY you fight in MGS2. That's the prototype that Liquid steals at the beginning when he sinks the ship full of marines. =]

Rex had a bomb blow up on top of it, but some...how...survived. And ocelot/Liquid stole the prototype ray in mgs2 tanker chapter end, where he heavily modified it afterwards.
