  • you can boost performance by about 10 FPS if you can get an amd bull dozer and new ram, and a decent mobo

  • Thats a really bad card you got there.

  • @SillyMusic97 Yeah, I really wish I gotten a mobo with integrated instead.

  • @jedidude75 its not a bad card? what you talking about

  • @T1TANGuild Sarcasm recognition fail.

  • @jedidude75 oops, my bad

  • @jedidude75 oh wait... i didnt see the thing about intergrated graphics.. now i sound so dumb

  • The water doesn't react to you whatsoever.... hmm

  • Is the frame rate and lag just the video? Or is the video card not powerful enough?

  • @IIxXGhostTrainXxII

The video card is very powerful. The video is mostly the main reason here why its lagging, then again the game is COMPLETELY maxed out, with every option available turned to the highest.

  • @jedidude75 Cool to know.

Do you mind telling me the lowest frame rate you got without recording on this game?

I'm curious because I'm building a computer atm, and I really need a decent video card. The reason I'm looking at this one is because it's one of the recommended video cards for Skyrim :P .

I'm also looking at the Radeon 6870. I have a little over $200 right now, but I'm looking to save a little for extra RAM and a better processor.

  • LOL :D

best game ever, best swimming, best shot

  • Hey would you mind telling me what settings do you have for overcolocking your CPU to 3.1Ghz? I've got the same CPU myself and could do with some more speed.

  • @BadaBoys316 Yeah it should, especially if its from a respectable brand.

  • MAXIMUM GAME!

  • Maximum swim!!!!!

  • Is Gtx 460 Soc better than HD 5850?

  • @Tibbex No.

  • @Tibbex no 5850 is beter

  • @Tibbex yeah

  • @Tibbex i dont think so because you can always overclock the 5850 to 1ghz easily. But i recomend you to research it alot.

  • I'm getting...Sandy Bridge i5 2500k 3.3 ghz(O/C to 4.0ghz) 8gb RAM, Nvidia GTX 460 1gb. How far can I crank up the setttings? :D

  • @xjames0x Should be able to max out, depends on resolution.

  • @jedidude75 1920x1080

  • @xjames0x All settings on very high should go very smoothly. You might be able to add some aa and still play it well.

  • @jedidude75 Sweet can't wait!

  • I think arma II is pretty much the only game where quad core is recommended I dont think many games at all adapt to quad core

  • @roadkill1001 bad company 2 also

  • how are the plantronics gamecom 367, does it have good audio?

  • @ScRain0 they are great for the price.

  • im gonna get the HD6970...

anyone ever tried to leave the coast and visit the korean battle ships near the shore???

  • @RD19902010 You get blown to bits

  • Such a GPU game... I have better CPU and Memory but not 1 FPS more. Hope they make a free demo for Crysis 2, wanna see how my pc handles that

  • 800 x 600, try 1920 x1200.

  • will this card run arma 2 well?

  • @LaynesAddiction Yeah.

  • @LaynesAddiction well ARma relies more on the CPU rather than the card actually.

  • @LaynesAddiction make sure your processor is good enough, because arma II is harder on the processor than the graphics card.

  • what software do you use to record your clips??? :)

  • @pbciocon Fraps.

  • i just got a 5850, it's soo frigging sweet:)

on 8x AA it lags a bit

but on 4x it's smooth as fuck

defo recommend this gpu for anyone looking for a new one

  • the ram is ddr 2 or 3?

  • @asulikit11 ddr 2

  • The new kid on the block "Metro 2033" has tried to push the envelope further graphics wise, but really it's just Bioshock on steroids.

Crysis is still king of graphics and should be for a while still.

  • @JJlowro Yeah, metro really does lower that framerate, even with the best of video cards. I agree, Crysis is still the ultimate benchmark though.

  • @JJlowro dude!! metro sucked!!

  • damn i got xfx black edition 5850, when i first started a month ago it was 65degrees when gaming, but now when i play the SAME game i get 75 degrees all of a sudden? it was the same fanspeed but now i have to ajdust so that fan speed is over 40% but i still get 70-75 degrees, i know its ok temperature, but what if i want to overclock!??!?

  • when running full hd or higher you dont need AA. AA is somthing you use when you have a screen that is maybe 1280X720

  • how much fps do you get at this resolution without aa or at 2x?

  • 0:58 nice legs!

  • can you tell me what's the difference between 8xAA and 2xAA because i see no difference

  • lol thats why im happy with my 1400x900 monitor.. higher res really lowers ur FPS

  • I have the exact same card and my average fps is 35-50 fps but the temperature goes over 60 C... is that normal?

    Other specs:

Cpu: Amd phenom II x6 1055T

    Ram: 4gb ddr3

    Win 7 64 bit

  • @OfficialAndy yea thats pretty normal. Mine will max out at around 68C after using a stress program.

  • @jedidude75 mine becomes 100C couse it gots heatproblems :(

  • @OfficialAndy it is normal mine goes to 66c max temp..... i oced mine though

  • What does AA do?

  • @obscurouse

its makes the screen smoother less edgy :)

but AA is mostly for resolutions till 1280x1060

so when u have ure screen in 800x600 use 4x AA, 1024x768 2x AA and 1280x1060 1AA, above that u wont really notice it and its best to turn it of or keep it on low because its takes a lot off calculation for ure card when u have AA on high.

  • OK, I've been playing around with Crysis Warhead and the 5850 this weekend. It seems to run at a higher framerate with 4xAA than it would without any AA on at all. This is crazy, but I love it!!

  • nice graphics, got the same too ( ati Radeon hd 5850 ).. then i got I7 930 and so on.. . =)

  • what is bether : ati hd 5770 in crosfire or

    1 ati hd 5850?

please answer my question It's very important.

  • @davidkarji11 I would say, on paper, 2x 5770 in crossfire would be more powerful.

  • @davidkarji11 What resolution monitor do u have? It is generally best to go with one stronger video card than two weaker ones, however the 2 5770's will have better performance.

  • @jedidude75 That's right, but think about the future. Take one HD5850 in a crossfire motherboard and go crossfire when it's low-priced. With two 5770's your future upgrades are extremely limited.

  • @jedidude75 With a little bit of OC on the 5850 you can get the same or better performance then 5770 CF :)

  • @davidkarji11

5770 crossfire is equal to a HD 5870.

get 5770 crossfire, u will be having those for under 300 dollar and the HD 5870 is just 1 single graphics card but its 40 + dollars more.

  • @davidkarji11

    Hell yeah +1 to jedidude75.

dont ever go for X2 cards or crossfire. They suck at most games ( not supporting dual cards). its like two men for one gal. most cases, one does the job, while another sits idle and watches..plus theres always the power consumption consideration. get a single strong card.

  • i avg 30fps on my 5850 with 8x AA & very high its playable, but lags in some situations..

Like it wont lag when theres many guys shootign & explsions but decides to lag for a lil bit when 1 AI shoots wierd but yea 4XAA & very high i run perfect 35fps no lag (i play on 1920Xby something)

  • almost same spec as mine but i got amd phenom II X4 3.09ghz.. and thnking to buy 5850... i only have 1400x900 monitor i think it will be overkill

  • Hey, if you used fraps to record, what was the FPS without it?

  • @iiTzQuiik mid 25's to about 30.

  • @iiTzQuiik Alright great, I'm buying this card :)

  • @r1ccardo what a triple-channel configuration "does" is allow three separate sticks of RAM independent access to the memory controller. This means that, potentially, if data were spread evenly across the three sticks, that data could be accessed 1.5 times as fast as evenly distributed data in a dual-channel configuration.

So to answer your question, 3x2GB is better.

Afaik, the LGA1366 (Core i7 Nehalem) processors are the only ones that currently support triple-channel configurations.

  • @r1ccardo Little to none. Mobos only determine performance insofar as they determine what kind of parts your PC can use and how well it can use them.

So for maximum gameplay performance you would want a socket LGA1366 mobo (allows you to have the best processors and triple-channel RAM) with at least one PCI-E 2.0 x16 slot for your video card.

But it's the proc, RAM, and GPU themselves that determine actual performance. The mobo mostly just determines what kinds of processors and RAM you can use.

  • I'm thinking of getting the ATI Radeon HD 5850, but do i really need all this other stuff too? Heres what i have now

    -------------------------------------------

Emachine ET1810-03 (Everyday Computing, im trying to be able to play better games in DX11, as cheap as possible)

    Vista with Service Pack 1

    Intel Pentium Processor E2210

    Geforce 7050 integrated Graphics Card

    DVD-Super Multi drive

    3gb DDR2 memory

  • @bbvproductions do u even have a pci express slot or power supply u cant just buy a 5850 and insert it

  • @franzken i don't, i doubted that i could just buy one.

  • This card rocks.

  • does this card have dvi-d or can it run 1680x1050? should i buy this card?

  • @JooJoniJoo It does not have DVI-D. There probably is some sort of dongle you could use tho. It can run 1680x1050 and is a very good card in my opinion.

  • @r1ccardo Your frame rates will be better if the game is already maxed out. If you have the game maxed out already, and you upgrade the game will look no different, it will probably just run more smooth. The graphics are limited by the game in the case where all settings are maxed out.

  • Ok. 5850 or gtx 285/470? (with an AMD phenom II x2)

  • @rctwik

    5850 vs 285= 5850

5850 vs 470= close, 470 a bit better in some areas.

  • Gud framerate considering wat the settings are

  • whats your FPS when you are not recording?

  • @Mountaind33w 30ish, sometimes 40.

  • Why do they shoot you?

  • @snipski0894 I was leaving the game playing limits.

  • will my phenom II x4 820 2.8 Ghz bottleneck the card?

  • which one is better between an xfx ati radeon 5850 and a saphire 5850

  • @ScotishChris

there wont be any differences in performance most likely, unless its Sapphire's toxic edition. Only things that change between manufacturers is reliability and cooling. You'll be happy with either; a 5850 is a 5850.

  • @ScotishChris xfx has the double lifetime warranty, meaning you have a lifetime warranty to begin with, and then if you want to sell the card the next owner also has a lifetime warranty. Sapphire has like a 2 year warranty.

  • @jedidude75 you can overclock xfx and use any cooler as well

  • lol very nice at 1920x1080 aa is not going to make a big difference so at 2xaa it was perfect

  • Dump the 8x to 2x and you will have yourself 39-46 fps.

  • Will a comp with Radeon HD 5850 gpu,AMD Phenom™ II X6 1090T Six-Core CPU,ASUS M4N68T-M NF630A AM3 DDR3/1066 SATA PCI-Express MBoard w/GbLAN, USB2.0, &7.1Audio motherboard,4GB (2x2GB) PC10666 DDR3/1333mhz Dual Channel Memory Run crysis as good,if not better then your comp ??I configured this comp on cyberpower btw :P.

  • @Kassad101 It should run crysis a bit better than my comp.

  • I´ve

    Intel core i5 750

    4gb GSKILL 1600

    ATI 5850

    Antec Twelve

and the game go spectacular, don´t stop with higtest conditions...I´m very happy with his efficient

  • with HD 5870 , i7 860 and 4gb ram will i run this game better than you???

how much fps will i get????

  • Without AA, the 5850 should perform pretty well on Enthusiast depending on your CPU. AA on Crysis fucks up even the best computers. Not to mention, this is Crysis we're talking about. Every other game will be crushed by the power of that card.

  • Need opinion pls...

    Target specs..

    Athlon II x4 2.8 ghz

    Saphire hd5870

    4gig geil ddr2

    Gigabyte superb 550

im keeping my old board.. gigabyte GA-MA78GM-S2H

any comments.. well appreciated... PS for "Gaming Extreme" if possible...

  • @TheBluebird994 Whats ur budget?

  • @TheBluebird994 that cpu will bottleneck that card unless you overclock

  • @TheBluebird994 flashfith is right, that cpu will bottleneck the card. you will want to put a nice overclock on that cpu,

  • @jedidude75

Not really true. Tests have shown that you need a mere i3 dualcore to supply a 5850 with enough CPU power, so a quad Athlon should be plenty for a 5870.

  • @Cam4cha An i3 dual core has the higher clock speeds tho. and my bad, I thought it was an athlon dual core X.X lol. Well yea then, bluebird should be fine, but an overclock should help.

  • @jedidude75

A proper overclock never fails to please =)

  • @jedidude75 and.. will a AMD Phenom x4 processor works better with the 5850 than Intel processors?

  • @TheBluebird994 I think U should buy phenom x4 965 3.4 Ghz

  • Will 5850 be bottlenecked in a PCIe 2.0 x8 lane?

I have to comprimise cause the ASUS - P7P55D-E Mobo has this IO Level Up button enables 500 MB/s transfer rates for USB 3.0 or SATA 6.0 Gb/s.

Would help if you know the answer.

    Cool video :D!

    Peace.

  • @asiandawn69 Probably not. The 8 lane difference will not really make a difference. Its when it gets down to 4 lanes is when you have to worry lol. Any difference there would be would be barely noticeable.

    Hope that helps! Thanks :)

  • @asiandawn69 Aww man I didn't know that board changed it to X8 when you do that... O well having the extra 100mbps with ssd is worth it... And benchmarks show x8 don't make a big difference at all.

  • @lizardmannnn Yea, I learned my lesson. Next time when I'm looking for hardware I need to check everything in the reviews. Yea I also checked that the for example 5870 will bottleneck like 1-2 FPS. I can live with that. But still I don't think anyone like to compromise :P

  • i'm going to put 2 ati 5850 cards in this case. will be a tight fit xD

  • OMG VEEEEEEEEERY GOOOOOOOOD !

  • just get a better proccecor and it will never lagg :)

  • without aa it should be 40 fps with 5850 right ??

  • @shiftipag51

    more.... much more!

    like 40-60FPS

i get 80+ with 8xAA and recording on fraps

     i have crossfire ;)

  • @BKsMassive ohhh crossfire ^^thats sick xD

but i think the human eye doesnt see any difference between 60 an 80 fps :)

  • @shiftipag51

    i uses eyeinfinity :D

so i need an extra card....

and when Crysis 2 comes out i will need it :)

They were playing Crysis 2 on a GTX480 and it was only getting 5-8FPS :S

    im worried :(

i will only get like 30FPS on one monitor :(

  • @BKsMassive ohh, well eyefinity is a very good choice =)

Crysis 2 only gets 5-8FPS ?!WTF!? Thats horrorable for a 500€ card =(

but you should notice that the game hasn´t been optimized for PC jet, so i think the finished result would be running on your system with 35 fps on all monitors, don´t worry :)

  • @shiftipag51 You have to remember that crysis has not been optimized at all for the cards. 5-8 fps will certainly not be the case when it comes out, as drivers and time will fix that :)

  • @jedidude75 so everything will be good at release xD

  • @BKsMassive You can't count on those benchmarks, as crysis 2 has not been optimized yet and it still has 7 months of tweaks that are gonna be made to it before it will be released.

There hasn't been much official word on how demanding the 2nd game will be also.

  • @jedidude75

    no demands?

some guy who works for EA posted 500 photos of Crysis 2!

and yer i know it wont run at 5FPS when it comes out.....

they need to Tweak a load of shit though ;)

and i think it was on 32AA :o

  • @BKsMassive it seems like warhead wasnt as demand as crysis so maybe there is hope.

Im nervous too, i hope that a HD 5850 will be able to run it just fine.

i am gonna try and wait to upgrade when the 6000 series come out but who knows when that will be

  • @HHHHGGGGG111111

    5850 eats through most things.....

my Crossfire 5850 gets 80+FPS on Crysis warhead with 8xAA ^_^

and yer im thinking about 6***'s :)

    but!!

AMD have said new chip set and Processors will be coming ^_^

    980GX!

    Phenom II x8 32nm :D

  • @shiftipag51 thats the moniter, most moniters are maxed at 60 frames

  • @Destroyerofturtles yeah, cause all over 60 fps is needless

  • @shiftipag51 yeah i do have to agree with you there

  • @Destroyerofturtles wonderful man :D

  • without any aa on enthusiast how many frames do you get without fraps?

  • OC youre card and get yourself 7-10 more fps for frico

  • If i were you i'd try to get a bit more out of your CPU anything over 3.26 should get rid of some of that lag. I have a Q9550 at 3.689. Im pretty sure you can get 3.4 out of yours.

  • how much is the power consumption rising when you overclock it....let say about 800mhz...im using nexus nx 5000 500w psu and q6600 prosessor at 3ghz. i doubted that this psu would run 5850 bit on stock clocks it works fine. am i able to oc it to 800mhz.

  • @gippula If your running it fine without an overclock, than you should be able to run it with the overclock.

But Nexus is not a reliable psu brand, so I would be prepared to get a new psu at some point maybe.

  • @gippula

    500w system? are you mad?

    get a 650 atleast!

and why do you want to overclock to 800Mhz?

    that is pussy!

    i have crossfire at 1100MHZ! >=)

  • i played on 32inc monitor used 5850&overclocked at 775/1175mhz but still lag

  • @naminakata87 Well a 32 inch monitor probably uses a high res. What were you running it at?

  • @jedidude75 all set to gamer only..1980*1080

  • @naminakata87 What cpu do u have?

  • Im thinking on getting the 5850, is it worth the bucks?

  • @bopezisdopez Definitely.

  • wtf happened at the end, it happens with me, ill randomly die wtf?

like walking around and BOOM i fall down and die??

  • @BlazeysTutorials No, I went too far out in the ocean and got shot by one of the battleships missles. I was leaving the combat zone.

  • @jedidude75

    ahahahahaa, wat a 'tard

  • Lol that's a funny ending .... Anyways my benchmarks for my CrossfireX 5850's max at +75 FPS highest and avg around 45-50 FPS maxes out at 1770x1000 for some odd reason my crysis doesn't have 1080p but my Warhead does :-P

  • crysis was kinda boring, Crysis 2 looks more exiting IMO

  • Hahaha, this is so freaky: I watched this clip watch?v=YEhddUQCXf4&feature=related and it ended about exactly were this one begins even if they are from completely different users!

  • what is your performance at the same settings but at 1680x1050??? please answer

  • @flashfith Well, at 1920x1080 I was getting steady, smooth framrates of around 25. I'm thinking around 30-35 fps at 1680x1050. I can't tell you exactly since my friend is borrowing the game.

Try looking at some benchmarks around the web and see if you can find anything.

  • @jedidude75 With 2AA at 1920x1080 around 40fps.

  • The comments seem to be helpful here, and i thought i could get some help from the uploader and other people as well. I'm building a pc with this kind of setup, and i was wondering what you guys think?

    - i7 860

    - Asus p7p55d-e

    -Corsair 2gb x 2 (1333mhz)

    -W/D 1 TB

    -XFX 5850

Would this setup be sufficient enough to run Crysis or any other intense games at maxed out settings? Please advise.

  • Oh, and it'd be running at 1920 x 1080 as well. At least, i hope it will.

  • @Zenccu

The fps is around 25 without fraps. With a rather small overclock of the gpu, I was able to play it maxed out without any lag.

    hope that helps ya :)

  • @jedidude75 With overlock, (1.34V, 1Ghz Core and 2,25Ghz Vcore) i can play Crysis with self settings, ever 30+ FPS

  • what are you getting at 1680 by 1050?

  • Everyone keeps talking about graphics memory - i remember my old power mac G1. The graphics card had expandable memory. You could just pull the card out and clip in more PC-66 SIMM ram modules.

  • 0:57 OVERCLOCK ARTIFACT!

  • That was some shark.

  • DUAAAGGUH

  • "It is a bit laggy at times, but the overall fps in that low action benchmark was 26.4"

    That's what I call laggy ;)

  • @fl00ki I just tried overclocking my gpu, and have it profiled so I put it at core 810 and 1210 mem. It's playable without any lag. I was amazed, insanely beautiful.

Overclock it a bit, turn the fan up a bit, and then get 5870 like performance!

  • you will never believe me, i slowly turned up the speeds until i had yours. and ITS AMAZING!!! EVERYBODY DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON A 5870.

Seriously, slowly overlclock your gpu. That's CCC is off isn't that bad. Only make sure to turn up your fan if it doesn't happen auto.

  • @louislouis33

CCC limits you in overclocking potential. The one I use is amazing, its MSI's Afterburner.

  • @jedidude75 do you think i could stay over 30 almost all the time with max settings 1920x1080 and 4x AA with:

    2.4GHz Core 2 Quad

    5850

    4GB 800MHz ram ?

and did you use afterburner for this video or is this 5850 still stock?

  • @naryanr

I wouldn't say over 30 ALL the time. But why would you need over 30 all the time anyway ;). You should be around 25-30 for most of the game with a slight overclock.

    I did use afterburner.

  • @jedidude75 yeah, i thought that might be pushing it a little. i think i'd down the resolution a single notch to get there, cause i don't think i'd be willing to sacrifice anything else. all the settings should be very high i think, and beyond 4xAA is a waste of performance but less than that affects visuals.

  • @jedidude75 I might just try that. I have the same card. Thanks.

  • Wow, the HD5850 runs Crysis at 1080p very well! I'm happy with it.
