  • Is it me or PNW first nations have distinct look compared to other north American indigenous nations?

  • Canada endorsed the Declaration in March, 2010.

  • How the fuck did I end up here?

  • are u my long lost cousin?

  • George BUSH Senior and Junior ARE TWO OF THE MOST UNDERHANDED, HYPOCRITICAL, CONNIVING, BARE-FACED LYING, GREEDY AND EVIL PEOPLE OF THE 20TH CENTURY.

.... Including from George Junior VOTE-MACHINE-RIGGING BOTH HIS "ELECTIONS" I CAN'T THINK OF ONE HONEST, ABOVE-BOARD THING BUSH JR. HAS EVER DONE IN THE PAST 10 YEARS. In YouTube look up "Clinton Curtis Confession" and "Native AAmericans Secretly Sterilized" -Bush Senior. He Authorized SECRETLY Sterilizing 40 % of all Native Am Women in the 70's

  • James Sewid is my Great Grandfather. He gave me the name Quarter Man. I can see that he was one of the last of the great hereditary Chiefs of our people. Most Chiefs of today have thrown away our old values and became pretty much like white people, and have become very Selfish, but present themselves as if they are great chiefs. These people today are only Hungary for Power and Money. and have no interest in giving back .The book, 'Guests Never Leave Hungary" Is a book where he recalls his life.

  • they banned the potlach because it was antithetical to capitalist pig values. it was impossible for missionaries to convert people whos culture was more beneficial than theirs. by 1951 the damage was done and there was no more need to overtly persecute them. BTW banning the Potlach in US jurisdiction required direct and serial violations of the US constitution.

  • It interesting how similar Kwakiutl maritime culture and sipritual practices and festivals are to Nordic culture of the chalcolithic . What were the funerary practices of the Kwakiutl?.

  • had to be done

  • Thank god my ancestors had more on their minds then what was in their pockets. Take a good look around. Do you really think that i'd invest in a bankrupt stockmarket? "It's better to give, then to receive." Right? Potlatch means "TO GIVE." You can not call my ancestors cheep! They paid for us, in many ways.

  • I have been searching for years to find video of the Qunhulahi in the boat starting @ :44

Thank you so much for uploading this!

  • There were potlatch in different cultures, in Indonesia where they compete with killing live stock, beef and so on. The thing is that this kind of competition icannot be controlled, by definition. The destruction can go untill the total auto-destruction of the challenger, specially if they are quite equal in wealth.

  • Potlatch is an uncontrolled overconsumtion of goods caused by competition... equivalent of stock exchange and consumtion society but in a primitive version. Some potlatch competitions drove villages to commit group suicide... It is the root of the greed wich drive mankind to its end.

  • interesting... what are you citing?

  • My ass.

  • You are a troll.Go away.

  • @JuliendAnce Um, thats an inetersting theory but kind of like saying the invention of the wheel was an act of Imperialist millitarism equivalent to building and selling tanks to Isreal. thanks for the input though.

  • beautiful video

  • One of my more favorite societies. The Richest person is the one who gives the most. Wonderful.

No wonder the colonialists hate them with so much passion.

  • Beautiful Lady thank you for showing truth and history denied ........ by its very perpetrators the Canadian Government and its Churches - clear evidence of the evil perpetrated by the alliance of the Church and State

  • Aye,that's why it's tagged with"genocide"&"religious freedom". I'm thankful the film series was made available so that I could share.

  • Dear AuroraKismet,

What film does this clip come from?

I would like to get it for a course I teach.

    Frank Flinn

  • I don't know what documentary the whole clip is from, but I can tell you that the silent, archival black and white footage used in the clip is from Edward S. Curtis's 1915 "In the Land of the Head Hunters," a silent fiction film, and the first feature to use an all Native North American cast. It's rare and very unusual. Definitely worth watching!

  • Bush admin will be out of office shortly....then where does the issue point?
