  • @TheGravygun Thanks for the nice comments,...... I think. For me, TTF is the hardest song to play. I just can never get the picking style that Stills uses. He is the master.

  • @BRANDONPICKENS27 Thank you my friend. Can't seem to get this song out of my head lately. I'm trying to learn to play it better. But no one plays it like Stills.

    Rick

  • Great.

  • @jorditje16 Thanks so much for watching.

    Rick

  • you re not Stephen Stills, but your version is really beautiful

  • @DudulleMaster Thanks for the nice comment.

    Rick

  • Arizona is a bit far indeed. Oshkosh truly is like a dream come true for me. My friend Matt, an airline pilot for Mesaba, and I were toying with the idea of flying in tandem to the show this year but I think funding is gonna be short on my end. I'll still happily make the drive though! Hopefully you can make it back one of these years and join your flying brethren! Great flying weather in AZ though, I would imagine?

  • Jam it man. Liking your style and thanks for the show.

  • when I'm not flyin, I'm strummin, my two favorite activities! well done sir!

  • @64wing Can't hardly afford to fly anymore. Gas is getting rediculous and maintenance is just as bad! So, I'll keep on strummin, too.

    Rick

  • @azcharlie2009 It certainly is pricey :( tell me about your flying history! How long have you been in aviation? Always pleased to meet another pilot! Hope all is well on your end, Rick!

  • @64wing I've been flying since around 1980. I currently own a 79 Piper Archer. I'd like to sell it, but no one wants for buy anything anymore. So, I'll just keep it and fly when I can. My mother passed away last Sept. and I flew back to Iowa from Tucson for the funeral. That was an interesting flight and a long way in a small plane. Just recently flew around the Galiuro mtns east of here with a buddy looking for good deer hunting spots this fall. Take care

    Rick azcharlie@juno.com

  • @azcharlie2009 My condolences for the loss of your mother, may she rest in God's eternal peace. My instructor and I used to spot deer from the plane during my training. I have only been flying for a handful of years myself. Quit football my senior year of high school to work another job so I could pay for the whole rigmarole. I'm coming up on 21 years of age, but it's always been in my blood. You ever make it up to Oshkosh for the big EAA show in July? It sure is a hoot!

  • @64wing Well, if you're that young,, 21. You have a long time to save up your money so you can afford to own something later on in life. Just be patient. Yes, I've been to Oshkosh many times. Since I've moved to AZ, it's a bit too far to go back for. But, I used to go every year when I lived in Iowa. Oshkosh was one of my favorite things to do. I am probably one of the few lucky people who have actually flown into the event. Now, it's tough to do that. It's usually full!

  • Boy, I have to admire your chutzpah! Taking on not only a dificult song to sing but also one used to show Stills' vertuosity with the six string, which you couldn't hope to match. But you did passably and cetainly get an A for effort.

  • @lafleopard Thanks....... I think...

    Rick

  • Wonderful job. Great voice too.

  • @robertfallsmusic Thank you so much for the kind comment. Gosh, I love that song. I've been playing it a lot again lately. Glad you liked it and thank you for stopping by.

    Rick

  • Well done!

  • @tortugabob Thanks, Bob. Nobody does it quite like Stills, though.....

    Rick

  • Wow, you really smoked this song. Your singing is even great. Usually it annoys me when people cover certain artists, Stills being a perfect example of someone that no-one else should attempt, but this is so true sounding. Beautiful. You oughtta do it again with some reasonable recording equipment. Kudos.

  • @Maat922 Thanks for the nice comments. Yes, Stills has a unique voice. When I was younger, I always wanted a voice just like his. But, if you've heard him lately, I'm glad I don't!!! Thanks for watching.

    Rick

  • Been researching this song. Your version is outstanding! Really top notch. Thanks for posting it

  • @Johndrakenosix Thanks for watching!

    Rick

  • One of my favorite songs, ever. WOW! You are excellent! Keep it up!

  • @5xls Thank you so much.

  • This is GREAT! I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT!

  • That is some awesome playing and vocals! My guess is we're about the same age... and brother.... you still got it!!

  • @AXD81 Thanks for the nice comment! I'm getting up there... 63 at present. Thanks for watching.

    Rick

  • Wow.. you're as good as the original.. Mad skills.. Nice !

  • @letssee4 Well, I don't know about that. Stills has always been one of my idols. Thanks for watching.

  • Fantastic!

  • outstanding

  • @kkidd123 thank you for the compliment. Sorry it's taken so long to say thanks. My computer has been down.

    Rick

  • Awesome!

  • @Pittsburghgirl209 thank you so much!

  • @Pittsburghgirl209 Thank you so much! Sorry it took so long to respond. My computer's been sick.

    Rick

  • you rocked it,nice job

  • Wicked nice - I'm trying to learn this one since it's one of my favorite songs from Stills. You make me think you have some experiences I would love to hear about sometime, hehe - what kinda plane do you run now? I was down in Tucson checking out PIMA and drooling over all those birds I only virtually fly.

  • @btz511 Well, thank you. I have heard several other versions of the song that are more bluesy, if that's a word, that I like better. Someday I'd like to do one more like those. I do fly, but not like that. I have a small Piper Archer. Four place single engine, fixed gear, fixed prop. Plenty of trouble for me to get into. And, yes, Pima Air Museum is really cool. I also do a lot of virtual flying. Believe it or not, that is a great help for mastering instrument flying. Thanks again!

  • @azcharlie2009

man, I'm still trying to learn to sing when I play! You never flew in the Air Force?

  • @btz511 nope. my eyes weren't good enough. my buddy ned flew F16's, check out his website acesareo.com.

  • @azcharlie2009 url not werking for me - if you like flight sims, do you have Rise of Flight? WW1 stuff, fun unless you hose the take off and bugger your plane like I frequently due - torque issues - haha

  • @btz511 Sorry. I spelled it wrong. it's acesaero.com. Ned has some great videos here on youtube also, if you like avation stuff. Don't have rise of flight. Just have FSX and use it quite often to keep sharp on the gages.

  • SOUNDS GREAT !!!!

  • @tnealeigh Thanks, Tony. I want to do a better version, but it's tough! By the way, those kids on your site are fantastic!

    Rick

  • Ray, jam up job. Steven would be proud!!!!!

  • @privypoker Thank you. I keep trying to improve on this song, but nobody can do it like Stills can. He is the master

  • Nice work, Sir. One of my all-time favorite songs. You've inspired me to start working on it. Thanks!

  • nice job, this has always been one of my favorite songs learned a lot watching your video

  • @rayspfx Thanks, Ray. Tree Top Flyer is a great song.

  • Thanks Mark. I learned a lot from your video.

  • Thanks, Pard. Miss you, buddy......

  • Beautiful job .... love it.

  • Thank you all for the kind comments.

I used double drop D tuning. Both E strings tuned down to D.

  • VERY nice job charlie!!. I agree, thanks for the lesson. Btw, are you in drop D?

  • You absolutely nail this! Thanks for the lesson!

  • Nicely done!! My kid just learned this one too. One of my favorites

  • You are too nice. Thank you!

  • Oh yeah - sing it baby! Classic Stills! I LOVE this song. You rocked it :)

    cheers
