@TheMullenFan And as a non-drummer, you obviously know who the better drummer is. Calling your statement an opinion just because you know you're wrong is quite a sad way to admit it. If my opinion would state that 1+1=3, would that draw the equation any closer to the truth? I don't think so.

hi my name is matt im a drummer from seattle, i'm amazed by this, if you have time tell me a little more about this technique and how you and buddy rich do it! is it a motion from the fingers or from the wrists? how could I go about doing it correctly? am i correct that it is not a bounce technique but you are forcing the stick to do this? thank you!
Exhorder teamed up with Seth Davis from Chris's recommendation and he is the permanent drummer now from what I hear. Exhorder and Seth are bad motherfuckers in their own right and bringing them together.... It will be brutal. ( I have studied with Seth and cant wait to see what is coming now that they are back 100% with him.) It is no wonder why Chris Nail recommended him.

That is correct. The "rack" to snare sweeps are utlizing the double stroke roll. The snare to floor fast sweeps are single strokes. However, most everything else is a mixture and combination of the single & double stroke roll, straight/reversed and inverted paradiddles. Paradiddle diddles and many more of my own patterns. Also. Out of 262,939 views no one has caught on to the odd meter phrasing of the Single Stroke Roll at the very end.

And Neil is twice his age or more, food for thought son. Can you say overrated much.
Maybe Neil will buy Seth's program thats coming out to help undue what Freddie Gruber did with his hands. ha ha
Mr seth davis has really explored the next level of human speed... :) 2:02-3:15 was really amazing.. Thats what you get watching Buddy Rich 3am ya !..

Practice does make perfect... I don't think the title means anything. You're fantastic and comparing to others is pointless. You're adding much flavor to the drumming community. Thanks for sharing.
Are playing single strokes at such high speed something that seemed to come naturally to you, or did you have to work very hard to get where you are today?
numbbum85 you bring up a great point. Nature vs Nurture. I WAS fast in general with many aspects such as when I used to spar all the time growing up boxing, however.... And this is a big however.... To play a single stroke roll and or all the rudimental combinations you see in this video, it takes TECHNIQUE and the CORRECT practice routine. Those are the two keys to achieving it, most do not have a consistent routine ...
I have worked EXTREMELY HARD to get where I am today, absolutely no question about that. I will share two points from the dvd that are the most important aspects of training that have never been addressed and or explained in any drum instructional video. Drumming Hypnosis/Meditation is the first and the second is exercises "cancelling out one another." It is not that you have great days and other days you suck, that is a common "myth" that is false. When you train muscles and ligaments*...
To a high degree you are building what is called "muscle memory.." However, drumming is not the same as working out where you want to always be shocking your muscles to not plateau. If you confuse your muscles with playing different rudiments and or grips endlessly you will do exactly that. Confuse them. You have to know how to practice and how to rest, hydrate, all of it. You will never be consistent with speed without focus. Why do you think Death Metal drummers...
say that it takes years of playing DEATH METAL MUSIC and not just practicing all kinds of different techniques that lead no where. Exactly. But it is like I said, those two points are two of the most powerful training tools you will learn and that makes up a great part of the Moeller Killer. Drumming Hypnosis/Visualization/Meditation/Correct Technique/Effective Practice Routines for Muscle Memory. =)
I never claimed to be the best and or the fastest bro, I really do not like that title thrown at me. However I do strongly feel that the upcoming dvd will put a mark in the history of drumming when it comes to hand technique and a 12 week program dedicated soley to the single stroke roll, more importantly teaching how to move it around the drumset.
Dude, my mouth dropped when I saw this video! Worlds fastest drummer title! Sweet man... I believe it without a doubt! Congrats to you on your amazing skills. I'm still working on keeping a tempo lol so I have a little ways to go until I'm up to your level ;) Later man ~Chris
First off I would like to say that I do not upload nor name these titles, I am like a 3 year old with computers! I have had the titles changed and also I wanted to address the Buddy vs Seth video that was posted. I am honored to even be thought of in the same sentence as Buddy Rich but I did not not give approval nor support that post and it is going to be removed, I will see to that. The dvd is being filmed in 11 days! Be looking for it!
Regardless of how good he is, a little modesty goes a long way - In that people won't think you're up yourself because you don't call yourself the world's fastest drummer in the title of every video. Even if he is.
"World's Fastest Drummer - Seth Davis - Insane Drum Solo"
So what more would one have to prove? Nothing.
Great Musician/Great Clinician & Teacher/Author of the Moeller Killer being released worldwide this summer/unbelievable Soloist with an infinite imagination. And the biggest aspect of being a drummer... Seth possess's unbelieveable concrete timing.
I do not know what you are hearing as well. 1. Seth hit's a rim "one" time in the whole video. 2. Seth is playing everything from inverted para-diddles, flams, para-diddle diddles, and many other rudimental stickings that are his own... Obviously. 3. Seth is the epitome of POWER & speed. Seth has so much more to him than this as well, try this on for size.
Incredible composer and musician? umm fuckin A. "World's Fastest Drummer - Seth Davis - Progressive Rock Drumming"
With all that said, Seth is still, no doubt, one of the finest drum technicians in the world today. His singles and doubles and the way he "alternatingly" navegate from one to another and his sense of groove is really outstanding, but hes no Buddy Rich, just wanted to rest it asured. Davis deserves almost all the credits hes getting though. Incredible technician.
The strokes although fast were quite weak, too close to the surface and you could hear him hitting the rim of the drums very often. Third, Buddy didn't just play single strokes. he played diddles, didledidles, flams and everything else at blazing speed. Try to dynamically mix all those rudiments and make them clean and interesting like Buddy did... I doubt it. I know it due to my own experiences trying to "play like Buddy Rich" (at least on the snare).
Not really sure where you're hearing the weak strokes. You should listen to the first Abigail's Ghost record "Selling Insincerity" to really hear Davis' single strokes. It's certainly not an album full of masturbatory drum playing, but you can certainly hear the power in his playing even at the fastest speeds.
First of all, I'd like to express my opinion on this video and some comparisons about Davis and Buddy Rich. First of all, this video suffers from a terrible frame rate. Watch it in a better frame-rated version (such as the one at one of his clinics) and things suddenly become less impressive. Second, Seth's strokes are nowhere as powerful as Buddy's. This was very clear to me when he played that fast snare/floor tom transition a la Buddy Rich.

I have a question about your snare.
I noticed you sit a little about your snare, Does that have any effect on your stick height or the leverage/power of your actual stroke?

Hello to all youtubers and drummers!

Incredible Polyrhythmist/Clinician umm.. Fuckin A
"World's Fastest Drummer - Seth Davis - Insane Drum Solo"
So what more would one have to prove? Nothing.
Great Musician/Great Clinician & Teacher/Author of the Moeller Killer being released worldwide this summer/unbelievable Soloist with an infinite imagination. And the biggest aspect of being a drummer... Seth possess's unbelieveable concrete timing.
Done.
