I'm a big fan of Thomas Brinkmann, but as a mathematician, I am having trouble to enjoy this naive and sometimes outright primitive play with mathematical graphics. Nonetheless a good video.

I don't like your tone. Indeed, I was listening to minimal techno, and you know, I have no trouble understanding the connection to a minimal visual concept. I agree that the images fit in style, I would just prefer it to be less primitive. :D

There is a special aesthetic in mathematical figures and formulae, a beauty which usually goes beyond what is visually drawn onto paper: it is also connected to the mathematical meaning, to denoted objects, which, for a mathematician, have their own aesthetic value contributing to the appeal of the actual, graphical figure. Parts of the video stomp over this abstract beauty like a child takes a complex and beautiful thing it doesn't understand, breaks it apart and naively plays with the remains.

I would like to add to the above, that the figures in the video are in fact fairly concrete, so the argument about the hidden beauty of the actual, denoted objects may not apply in all cases. Still, IMO the real beauty of mathematical objects is bound to their underlying, very strict logic. Using them as simple toys like at 1:40 is sort of violent, it hurts to seet that. Childish play, with no clue about it, and primitive.
