@hizzleyo those specs are not totally correct. the ady gil was faster than the bardot by about 10 knots, as she has a max of just under 30 knots, and the ady could hit about 40. however the ady was much a smaller boat so her speed was about 30 knots max in rough seas, the bardot has nearly no problems with rough water. the rest is about right!

@mwillblade Sea Shepherd does go after other countries (Iceland, Norway, etc) and they don't just protect whales either! :) They organize campaigns for seals, dolphins, sharks, etc. Hope that answered your question!
@Landotter1 They shut them down BEFORE the Earthquake, the japanese filed a report that they were heading home, only half way through the season, and they only killed 112 whales out of 1000. I dont see how they could come back next year, since now the earthquake has hit, whaling isnt a top priorety.

Sea Shepherd is making a huge difference. Never stop fighting for what you believe in.

@hizzleyo those specs are not totally correct. the ady gil was faster than the bardot by about 10 knots, as she has a max of just under 30 knots, and the ady could hit about 40. however the ady was much a smaller boat so her speed was about 30 knots max in rough seas, the bardot has nearly no problems with rough water. the rest is about right!

The Animal Planet network wants to keep the Whale Wars name alive on their channel, but they feel japanese whaling has a very good chance of coming to a permanent end soon. Besides, they've bitched their heads off with their false "racism" and "terrorism" comments in an attempt to force Animal Planet to stop showing Whale Wars. They've even gotten certain franchise producers to sue the Sea Shepherds into not using the name "Gojira". (Thank goodness for Brigitte Bardot to the rescue)

@mwillblade Sea Shepherd does go after other countries (Iceland, Norway, etc) and they don't just protect whales either! :) They organize campaigns for seals, dolphins, sharks, etc. Hope that answered your question!

@Landotter1 They shut them down BEFORE the Earthquake, the japanese filed a report that they were heading home, only half way through the season, and they only killed 112 whales out of 1000. I dont see how they could come back next year, since now the earthquake has hit, whaling isnt a top priorety.

No guns, no torpedos, no missles... What do they plan to stop the Japanese with? Spit wads? gimme a break. Wish I had an extra 15 mil laying around to do nothing with. The sea sheppard stopped the killing of over 500 wales last YEAR. Hell, the whalers take more than that EACH, and how many of them are there? At that rate, the fight seems kinda futal. There's just too much money to be made so things will remain the same, I'm afraid.

The japanese set out to kill Minke Whales, Humpback Whales, Fin Whales, Sei Whales, Byrdes Whales, and Beaked Whales every year... with a quota of over a thousand in total. Look up the subsistence of ALL of these.

@Landotter1 Japan just called off whaling for this season due to interference by the Sea Shepherds and they ended up going home with only about 100 whales, 900 short of their 1,000 whale quota. The government has also withdrawn it's funding from whaling operations. Watch the season 4 finale. It's the kind of pessimism in your comment that prevents good people from doing good things. Sea Shepherd is making a huge difference. Never stop fighting for what you believe in.

I mean, if you're gonna tell people that trying to stop whaling is hopeless, how do you expect people to have any hope in stopping corrupt banks and governments that scam society and nations for trillions? At least Sea Shepherd has proven that they do have a significant effect and if they keep it up, the whaling fleet won't even make enough money to cover their own expenses. It's the same as the US government continuing its oil wars even though millions of Americans went out to protest it. @Landotter1 The SSCS hit where it hurts. As we all know, Whales are very susceptible to toxins (just like mercury). Well, when the japanese kill a whale, the Shepherds use the legally harmless "stink bombs" to taint the meat so the whalers can't profit from it. So now they've spent the costs of fuel, salaries for their men, food & supplies, whatever licenses, and bribes... and have nothing to show for it but bankruptcy.
This, plus the court battles, will bring it all to an end eventually
