@FrikkenChicken No - look at the video again. A major lahar is only expected to be 40 feet or so when it hits Puyallup. Is you make it up to about the cemetery off of 9th/94th or about 1/3rd the way up Meridian you should be fine.
so true there would be no more 167...if you live in the valley forget about it and if you on the hills you aint going no where like South Hill, Bonney Lake, Lake Tapps, trapped for a very long time...and if you think you can go around to 5 to get to Seattle forget about it aint happen...sweet vid gallwapa
@BIGTEE1471 Thanks - good points. If it happens as described Fife is gone. SH people would have to go around the mountains to get around, like when I-5 flooded down south a few years back.
The sad thing is that this area will continue to grow in population. As soon as I'm done with college I'm moving away from this place. Nowhere is 100% safe. But this is considered one of the most dangerous places on the planet to live not just because of this volcano but also because of the earthquakes.
I wonder how many people will complain about how little the government will be able to help. Well dummies, wtf you move there for in the 1st place if you knew this would happen?
I am sorry but I love this. Because I live by the fair grounds and I drive on 512 all the time, right actually where they showed it at. You know its nice to really know what you are up against if the fat lady ever decides to clear her throat.(Mt. Rainier)
Hi, thanks for posting this! I was actually at the Puyallup River today (near Orting)because it was in the 90's & my German Shepherd needed cold water! While there I was thinking about the flood after Mt St Helens blew, & so Googled the river- Your video popped up. Apparently the future looks GRIM! Oh well... I live just uphill by Kapowsin; on the highest ground, w/perfect view of Mt Rainier, Mt St Helens & Mt Adams- if any of 'em blow I intend to stay home, sip cocktails & watch the show!
AHHH! i lived in puyallup...i dont care if mt rainier explodes, i still wanna go bac there...snowboarding there is fun...well they say that if you go to south hill you might be in high enough ground to survive...i used o live close to souith hill mall XD
Wow - impressive that they have had many. The problem is, they are anticipating our lahar to be large enough to wipe out anything in its path due to the sheer size of the debris that is expected to slide off of the mountain. I live on on the hill you see at 00:42 in the video at about the same elevation so I should be safe - only have to worry about the ash.
