In this tune, Curly was paying honor to one of his greatest heros, Jerry Byrd. Curly took this simple tune to new heights as no other could do. What different breed this talented player was and has no equal, to this day.
@walknsteel I couldn't agree more......I never thought Curly got the play that he deserved. In a lot of ways, he was the best and no one has ever been such a master of the volume pedal and what can be done with it like Curly was. I have an album from way back called "Dick Curless-Live at the Truck Drivers Jamboree"; Curly is the steel player in the band, and this record contains some of the best playing he ever did. He was a true artist; one of the true greats of the pedal steel.
@CARDINAL701 The Dick Curless live album really showcased Curly under live conditions. He could really shine under an adrenaline rush and prefered that to the discipline of the studio, which he still was a supreme standout.
@HippyHillbillie .............Yes. that is the one. When I want to hear Curly Chalker, that is the album I reach for, along with ' Big Hit's On Big Steel'. These are a real showcase, I believe, of his enormous talent. If you have the album of him with Curless, listen to 'Outskirts of Town, a blues tune, on there. Curly takes a break that is so fabulous Curless loses his place and forgets when to start singing again!!
I love this! Thanks to somebody I can enjoy this more than once!

@CARDINAL701 Did this album just happen to be recorded in Wheeling W.V. on September the 2nd, 1972?
