Overclocking it yourself will probably give you higher clocks for less voltage.

It'll just be as stable all you need is 2 hours of Prime Testing and you'll have your answer on stability.

Ok I looked it up you are spending 300 dollars for an overclock...

That can be easily done by yourself.

All you have to do is move the blck up a few points.

Umm... its quite impossible to destroy your CPU.

Unless you raise the voltage past the range specified by Intel (Its on the Box) and let heat get out of control.

Even with the heat the cpu will slow itself down to prevent that from happening.

Btw I took my 2.33 Ghz stock volts 1.3 (Core 2 Duo 6550)

To 3.1 Ghz at 1.175 volts.

As you can see I increased the clockrate (This increases performance)

At the same time I reduced the volts i put into the processor (Volts is used for stability). Though if you use OCCT or any to test you'll have no issue with stability

So now my processor is running faster, but using less energy, volts and heat.

Its now will last longer since I have less volts and heat going through it.
