It only proves that Barack was more concerned about avoiding political controversy than actually performing the function of his trip which was to show that he cared about the troops. Now if the point of visiting the troops was to show he cared about the troops then he should have visited them anyways. He chose to ditch them so he can avoid the "evil" McCain attack.
